@@Lukja08 Actually at least in a "technical" sense the game did explain it but it did it in an incredibly easy to miss fashion as most info about the mist and the god like abilities it bestows is either conveyed through the Occuria's lore which despite be pivotal to the games plot they somehow manage to still remain cloaked in mystery and then there's the Espers which if we're being honest are basically demigods minus Zodiark as they're stated to be more powerful than all the gods even in their infantile form and most of esper lore is all in the Bestiary so unless you read it then you probably wouldn't even realize their roles and relations. but anyways regarding quickenings you could almost say there relatively insignificant at least in regards to the variety of potential threats to be expected in ivalice. I mean the entire war is at its heart focused on the whole "let man make his own future" thing and the reasoning behind Vernat defecting from the Occuria and granting quite frankly absurd levels of power to mortals is that he(they/it?) sympathize with mortals and find it wrong that a few Occuria "chosen" individuals should be able to level entire civilizations simply because that's the will of the gods (Occuria). Do note that this isn't implying that the players the bad guy but much rather that at least on a fundamental level booth the empire and the player are pursuing the same goal but due to cruel fate things just can't be as simple as getting along. going back to why this justifies the player having quickenings. you could basically look at it as a result of a few potential things first and likely the most obvious is that at least to begin with the party was viewed as "allies" by the Occuria and obviously this stops being true later but to begin with its not unreasonable to say the otherwise atypical level of power possessed by the players party was nudged along by the Occuria and for what it's worth you do technically solve their Vernat problem. The second and at least in my opinion better reason for the party having quickenings is due to them almost perpetually being in myst soaked areas and making recurrent contact with high caliber myst wielding entities (Espers, Occuria, nethicite shards that are loaded with myst, etc.) and have as a response to this learned / developed some abilities (Quickenings) as a response to this I mean it is straight up stated that high concentrations of myst can and will impact anyone and anything even remotely sensitive to it to say nothing of the more hypersensitive individuals like the viera.
One thing I want to add as a small correction. Yes, the Quickenings do consume MP, but only in the Original PS2 Release. Howevery, all the footage shown here is either the remaster (Zodiac age) or the Inter ational PS2 Version witch an english patch (IZJS) which both didn't consume MP, as Mist bars and MP are seperate in those.
FFXII was supposed to be designed for the PS3. I forgot why they didn't go with the PS3. The graphics were amazing for the time. I remember playing the demo multiple times before getting this for my birthday back in 2006. There were two areas, Phon Coast with Vaan, Penelo and Basch, and Stilshrine of Miriam with Ashe, Balthier, and Fran. After completing it, we got treated with a special trailer. It was a time to experience this game. The game looks even more beautiful with the Zodiac Age re release. Notice their hair doesn't polygonize when zooming the camera out on the maps.
Good video with a personal angle! If you want some constructive criticism, your writing could use some variety. You use the word “literally” a lot, and it becomes a bit repetitive. Keep it up!
You can see a guy wearing a Squall's cosplay in Jujutsu Kaisen Second Season, in the metro, when Gojo fights Hanabi and sht It reminded me the Domain Expansion's... Maybe that stuff has some influence...
My only complaint with quickenings is that they become obsolete in the late game, like bonking an enemy with your weapon is suddenly stronger than throwing a galaxy at them or shattering reality. And the ultimate offender is to cast oil in the enemies, then reflect in your team, then cast either firaga or scourge against the team itself, this thing will multiply the fires to 9 shots that will obliterate anything in the game.
Also the animations are just too damn long. Like, why should I waste 3 minutes of cutscenes/QTE to do 50k damage when I can just do that amount of damage in 15 secs.
