This may have been answered in the comments, but do you have a suggestion for whether newbies should jump on a different role/class after hitting level 10? I am a Marauder and I feel like I am just getting started in this role, yet now I have other things opened up to me but I am not sure if I should jump on them or stick with my current role for now until I feel comfortable. If you do suggest waiting, do you have a recommended level to start going for other roles? Thanks for the video.
That's such a personal answer based off of who you are as a gamer and I don't know you that well yet to give a specific answer to YOU, but I can answer what I see in the analytics as a GENERAL answer and you can adapt it to your playstyle. 1st. Play however you want to play, if your having fun your doing it right BUT 2nd... most people who quite the game and never come back are those who get stuck in the "i what to play everything this game has to offer" and they get stuck in a loop and never get to level 50... 3rd. At level 50 you unlock flying and the first round of raids and endgame, this is the time where I say feel free to try something new out. Personally I recommend players step into Ishargard before they start changing up their playstyle and start touching other aspects of the game, but this is by no means advice to say to not listen to what YOU want to do first and foremost. If you're having FUN. You're playing it RIGHT. :)
@@GingerPrimeGaming Your answer is exactly what I wanted to hear! Haha thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! Was very helpful. I'll keep using your videos for tips.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid lost my login password. I would love any help you can give me!
@@deceptioncxv6385 i was the same i got to level 50 and quit for like half a year. I just reinstalled it again last night and having a blast playing it again
@@IWantToStayAtYourHouse I got hitched in May so since then I've not had time to play haha, but that will change soon hopefully because I've got a whole catalogue of games I've still to play
Super informative and well-made video! I started playing about a week ago and have been super hooked, and one of my main fears is getting burnt out with the game eventually - I’ll definitely follow your tip about pushing to unlock flying quickly before giving into my temptation to go sign up for every guild I see, haha
Welcome to FFXIV as always play the game however you want, but Once you unlock flying in those zones you’ll really be able to make fast progesss on other objectives :) If you have any questions just let me know
I'm no beginner to the game but I had a couple of friends that started playing and needed a beginner guide. I had linked them to this video. Very detailed many thanks for your time to make this :)
I remember playing the trial back when level cap was 20 and I hit the level cap and I stopped playing because I didn't have any money back then, was still in highschool. And I just got into again now that I have money, also lots of hype around the game recently.
I'm a diehard Final Fantasy fan just getting into FF XIV, So thank you for this video. Gonna Get through the free trial and definately subscribe afterwards.
@@joelstatosky1817 How about now? I remember back in 1999-2005 i was super addicted to mmorpgs. The play time on some of my characters are crazy....one had like 235 days....as in 24hrs/day. Nowadays I barely game an hour strait.
@@GingerPrimeGaming I played through ARR and got to level 50, played both tank and sam. Had trouble following the story because of the sheer volume of reading text boxes with a ton of dialogue in them but its ok I guess.
This video helps a lot. I'm a long time WoW player (since Cata) and WoW just hasn't been hitting the mark for me lately. Hopefully FF14 is my new mmo home!
Same here! Did everything in wow (up to completing mythic rading) But got bored so im starting ff14 now! Its somewhat Overwhelming but i hope i get the hang on it :)
Its been a while since i've played any MMO, Thank you for the guide the one with picking class as well i've got few minutes left on the download and now im really eager to just jump in the game :D
Wow I didn't knew they changed the free trial from 35 to 60. Thats is super great, I can finally have my friends try the game and convince them to play.
I am just starting the free trial but how about paying the game after testing free trial? I pay for the base game right? And then 13$ monthly for 1 character?
Appreciate this vid. Been subbed for a while and it was entertaining watching you try WoW. Played WoW since vanilla and am starting to look at other things. Going to give this a title a go. Appreciate the information here, good job!
Thank you for this video! Do you have any videos on playing with a PS4 controller on console? I’m having a tough time adjusting from playing on the computer with mouse and keyboard (I did connect a keyboard to the PS4 which helps tremendously with chatting). I also struggle with battles (combos, positioning, buffs/debuffs... etc) and how to set up an efficient HUD on the PS4. This is my first mmorpg and I’m feeling quite overwhelmed 😅 so if you have vids on those as well I’d love it! This channel is my fave so far on learning about ffxiv so thanks for putting these together!!
I wasn't much into mmorpgs until I gave PSO2 New Genesis on release these last few days and after blowing through most of the content since there's so little currently I started getting a newfound itch for mmos. figured I'd give ff14 a try and this is the first result I found so thanks for all the info!
Ty so much for this video! 🙂 just started playing, on leviathan server, and I’m level 12. It’s a bit confusing and slow, but I’m having a bit of fun. Vid def helped me a bit
Ginger Prime appreciate it! 😁 I’m currently just trying to get a feel for it. Eventually I plan to learn raids and other hard content, once I’m ready, and I find a good guild or group of friends. I’m pretty excited 🙂
If you've never played be sure to start with the free trial, as it will let you play all the way up to level 60 :) If this video (when you get back to it) leaves you with questions, just let me know :)
hey i just subscribed. just finished watching and yes i would love to see a controller guide! I'm going to look if you've made one or not but if not... :p anyways thx for this video!
I played a dragoon to 47 in like a month pretty much exactly 1 year ago but had to stop for some reason, maybe my old job got too busy? I just started back up today and I have no clue what im doing again. Im just glad I still have my sprout so people won't expect me to know what im doing lol
Not sure if I’m hallucinating but is that the tune of Selbina from FFXI, barely heard in the background, first two minutes of the video?! Very nice video, bee tee dubs! ^^ Edit: i hear it at 7:40! Thats pretty kickass!!
Your Videos helped me so much. Just started yesterday.. is there a Video which is covering Job selection/changing throughout the Game? Or how i can choose more then one? I Chose black mage in the beginning - is it even necessary changing your Job within the First 30-40 Levels? Anyway, thanks for the awesome content my Dude :)
I would recommend not changing your job until you get into the Heavensward expansion as you’ll have flying mounts as so much more unlocked, but you bring up a great topic regarding job switching that I need to think on...
I suggest you choose a job you like and stick with it until you hit the level cap. It makes it much easier to level other classes via the Armoury bonus, granted some jobs are unavailable to you until a certain point, like the Rouge / Ninja for example, feel free to try them all out after hitting level 10 in your main though!
Yes, this is done via glamours and unlock at level 15. You can even make sets for your looks. Just search FFXIV glamour unlock and you should find a quick guide
@Astolfo There are pros and cons to both. In WoW gear templates are saved automatically in a "wardrobe" once you pick up the item or equip it for the first time depending on the item. You can then use it forever without the need to keep the item. Then you can sell it or DE it. This makes WoWs system more user friendly and you don't have to have "glamours" so to speak. Just go to xmogger, pick your gear templates from previously acquired gear, pay some gold, and done. I do like FFs dye system better though.
Question: do you have to know people irl to actually play through this game? None of my friends are really into MMO’s and I’m nervous that I won’t be able to play this game without actual friends to play with :/
Thanks so much for the great video. I haven't played in almost a year due to IRL distractions. My toon is at level 38. Should I restart a toon to relearn mechanics and rotations? Just putting it out there...I'm older lol. Thanks.
Just keep going, there has been so many changes, I say pick up right where you left off, catch a video on youtube if you need a refsher on the story, but you'll do much better if you unlock flying in the base zones, plus you can always play a new job on the same character once you've unlocked heavensward :)
Gameplay doesnt look appealing to me but the amount of times ive watched the shadowbringers trailer and now the endwalk trailer is tempting me to get into this game
try puglist or if u play rouge if are like me and want faster gameplay also there are other classes that if you pick them changes how the gameplay is and has its own gameplay mechanics
Subscriptions are better than free 2 play games IMO. But we are in 2021, not 1999-2010. Nowadays they'll Nickel and dime you even with subs, but mainly just cosmetically.
Once you apply the code you get your 30 days and once that's up you'll be subbed, so yes, it even counts if your updating your game. The clock doesn't stop even if you don't play it for a week. You'd still be paying for that time.
@@GingerPrimeGaming daaaaamn, i played Diablo alot so I wanted to expand on mmorpgs and a lot of people recommended ff14, but ngl 120 for a year is quite expensive. 🥲
I’m still so confused on the mobility lol. Keep crashing into walls. So far I love the game. I just hope I get to master things before I get to do dungeons. I don’t think I can configure my keybinds yet since I’m on a trial basis. Or can you? And how do you move with the mouse without the down is up/up is down thing?
I just started playing yesterday and I find the quest line kind of exhausting... It’s all fetch quest which is to be expected, but is it really necessary to do all the side quests? And if I skip reading the dialogues will I miss much? (I do stay for the cutscenes)
Welcome to FFXIV and your critique isn’t miss-placed. If you keep struggling I might advice you story skip to Shadowbringgers and try that game out and new game plus the previous stories as you wish
Great videos as always quick question that don’t go wit this video. I’m trying healing our mouse over macros relevant for this game like I use them in wow for healing
Ginger Prime thank you Oh yea ur killing me wit the super early stream lol. So I watch what I can live and than I just watch the beginning on twitch after Enjoyable content 👏🏻
dont use mouse-over, its cumbersome and needless. forget about wow healing, you need a new mindset. all raids are 8 man raids in xiv (and the 24 man raids are irrelevant as far as difficulty goes cause theyre casual).1234+modifier are your self/tnk/tnk/healer/dps/dps/dps/dps. qwerty and the rows beneath that are your spells. mouse is used to move and nothing else. (except in very situational occasions where you'll have to click on something or someone)
I got me and 3 friends to all start playing this for the first time yesterday.. biggest problem we had is our starting classes don't start in the same town.. Is there a way for us to play together early while keeping our desired class??
FF14 is so much better than World of Warcraft. I have played WoW for a decade. WoW took part of my life that I don't regret until the very end. I got so sick and tired of Blizz not listening to the community, and now because of the suite against Blizz, I am so happy I left. When I play FF14 it always reminds me of the day when I very first picked up WoW. I never bring up FF14 with anyone at work, but even at work people ask me "Hey, have you ever tried final fantasy 14. This game is what WoW USED to be imo.
Hi. Great vid. Question - I played a couple of years ago but really rushed to end game. I'd like to start over from scratch with a new character and take my time. If I have flying already on that character from a couple years back, can my new character fly from the start while levelling?
I’ve tried getting in to this. Talked to a couple friends who play. Both said if you don’t have any experience with WoW, don’t play this. Is that true? I’ve never played WoW. Does that mean this game will be really difficult?
I think a better statement might be “If you haven’t played WoW (or anything similar), there will be a steep learning curve.” I’ve just barely begun my FFXIV journey, but I think I get why they may have said what they did. I am a VERY casual WoW player that started about 3 years ago. I initially joined to try and find a community of people to game with that were closer to my age and commitment level, but still okay with my skill level being none. I found myself being quite overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content and complexities of playing the game at an efficient level. The basic mechanics and ideas were straightforward on the surface - travel, combat, quests, dungeons, and leveling made sense. Everything beyond that has been... a lot of googling, RU-vid videos, backtracking, learning experience, and unique mechanics found in each expansion, some good, and some terrible. Just understanding how dungeons, raids and leveling up gear worked at high/max level (depending on which expansion) took me a while to understand given that I don’t have many hours to dedicate to learning it all, never mind things like leveling up professions, earning gold efficiently, and understanding the detailed mechanics of every class, race, ability, and dungeon/raid bosses separately. If you start out solo and don’t have/find some kind of community, it can be a lot of repetitive grinding. I’ve had a LOT of fun on WoW, but it was - and sometimes still is - daunting to go back and get achievements or certain mount drops or whatever it is I’m wanting to do. In some ways I feel like there are many areas of the game where I’ve barely scratched the surface. All of that being said, I still haven’t found the community I’ve been looking for and am not thrilled with the direction of current WoW expansions, so I’ve decided to give FFXIV a go because I’ve heard good things about the game. What little I’ve played so far is similar to WoW, but really fun and its own experience. I say there’s no reason not to give it a go if you think you’d like it or you just want to play with your friends!
Hi I have a question. If I join an NA data centre with my friends and then pay subscription are those region locked? Do I have to buy an American code? My Square account is British but the server is not
Nice video... new to the game and I having trouble with gear my level how i get gear starting out beside the one we get by doing some quest can you do a video explaining best way to get level gear
Sure thing, what level range are you right now? As a player you should roll on everything and use the auto equip skill, or buy from the markets, but let me know where you are in level, as the quests and everything should just be handing it too you, as well as your class quests.
If you are a crafter you can meld them yourself otherwise there is an NPC in the cities that can do that for you. You obtain them in the content, by spirit bonding (see my UI/UX video for that info) of from the market
Hi all! I've been considering giving FFXIV a try, but can anyone tell me if they've had some experience with running the game on a MacBook Pro 16", from 2019? And if so, how does the game run on the said system. I've been finding mixed answers on the topic on the net, so I'm just curious if anyone here has actually been through this themselves? Thanks in advance for your answers!
For the low level gear I get, do I just vendor all of them? They are very cheap to sell compared to their buy prices. Also for quest rewards, should I just choose the gil reward, since I get levels so quickly, and I can get gear from dungeons.
I tried once over a year ago on ps4 and was so goddamn confused now im on pc my friends been bugging me to play again. I just installed genshin impact the other night its super chill beautiful atmosphere. We could play that together but he thinks its too “cartoony” lol… How confusing is this game still? Last time I played a solid 30 days and barely got anywhere. I dont even want to recover that old acct anymore. No idea who to start with…this game is a lot. I’ve played WoW from the beginning so no stranger to MMORPGs.
@Ginger Prime here's a question for you if u play the trial till 50s lvl then buy the full complete game and all expansions but u beat arr and ur currently in hw can u level up past 60 or do i need to unlock every expansion content story by complete each one to unlock further levels past 60?
I’m now level doing level 50 quests awarding 4k experience compare to the 50k+ i was getting before. Is it possible to skip all those and get to the next expansion or something?
Yes, you can buy a skip potion and just jump right into Heavensward or go even further. They’ve made changes and you’re close so I’d say just power through them as it’s not worth the money IMO
Yeah that’s the first real challenge of the game. At the time it was fine because it was something to do in game but now for new players it’s a slog. Thankfully SQuare learned from this and the other expansions are done quite wel
This is because you are doing the 'patch' quests ;-) I would suggest this link: ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Main_Scenario_Quests You will see that after each expansions, there's patches quests which were supposed to be played at max level, at the time they were released. ;-)
cus there was a 60% sale i bought the game. brand new to this game. have played a lot of ff games and am a 13 year wow player. but this is new to me. anyone know how you chat on the server your from? I have typed things out but don't know if anyone is seeing it. sorry for the derp question. am new to this game.
im thinking about quitting classic tbc and looking for a new game considering i learned english with ff7 and ff8 im wondering hows the playthrough storywise during your journey of course i love any end game grind just like every other mmo players but im wondering if the story is worth it
I quit wow 1 week ago and started ffxiv, i can say that a realm reborn is worst of all the game content and gets better with expansions, but as a wow player the story is quite good, since in wow there is barely any, also begining is quite slow in ffxiv and the best of all dont expect ffxiv be same as wow, ffxiv is rpgmmo its mire like singleplayer game story wise with mmo aspects, so take it slow dont rush to end game its not wow, in ffxiv endgame is already the begining of the game, for questing and leveling you can easily level up by doing main story quest and blue quest witch unlocks game features, no need to do side quests, unless you want as completionist.
I remember when this game came out, got like 3 jobs to max then got burned out fighting the avatars lol tarutaru warrior was fun, but it got old, I may try to check it out again now with the flying.. but the community was toxic as fck though, maybe that has changed...
How’d u get ur ur like that I’m also on console and new to ff and new to console in general.. I see u have more bars on top of the default bars pls pls help me make it like urs thx
There is only one progression path in the game and the MSQ will take you trough all expanssions the first start at end of main game and others follow after in order
Bro I just want to know how gear works I’m a 5 year elder scrolls online player and I’m looking to get into something new black dressert is ass so I’m lookin at this Lon gym story short in eso that have sets and you have room to wear 2 5 piece sets that do unique things to make a build of 10 pieces so it didn’t matter what cp you are as long as you grounded for the meta sets for yo ur class you were good ofc if your lower cp your not as strong as a max cp but you can hang with them on black dessert you just pick boss gear that gives you + attack + defense not sets how does this game gear work?
Here the Gear grind is pretty basic. Every 6 months the grears level cap increases and a new currency is introduced. You can get the best gear in game by ether using the endgame currency to buy it and upgrade it, or you can run the savage raids and get a drop. :)
The best gear in ff14 won't carry you in the endgame by the way, it all depends on your skill since ff14 is mechanic heavy and optimal rotation heavy. The bonus stats (materia) is a very small increase.
Just wanted to be a samurai 60 dollars put in and still can't be a samurai lol, how can noob like me make this mistake you ask? Bought the end walker standard edition thinking it came with storm blood on the picture it shows it comes with storm blood but it doesn't unlock until end walker comes out I feel bamboozled
After Trying FF14 for the first time, it plays and looks more like SWOTOR than it plays and looks like WoW. No Voice dialogue is a huge downside. the UI is awful, there's lots of just plain text everywhere. The level sync makes leveling feel unimportant and useless. The game pushes you to end game making for a linear leveling experience. The Overall graphics and gear progression is 1/5, its very basic and low quality. If you like MMOs, I'd say while this does reach the MMO standard, it's subpar when compared to others. Once a few 2021 new gen RPGs drop, something as janky as FF14 will most likely be impacted.
Ok so which version of this game should I get? I think there’s a steam version and a square Enix version or something. Which one is the better one to start with? Also since I’m on PC there’s a monthly subscription after a while right? Like after you get to level 60 and complete the content in the free version anything else is subscription based correct? Also what is the file size of this?
if u havent played the trial yet start there like you said it lets u play to level 60 with Realm Reborn and Heavensward first expansion included i have included all the restricted as listed on square enix website Free Trial Players can create up to eight (8) playable characters, restricted to one (1) playable character per World. Sorry I missed the original comment but welcome to FFXIV I’m glad to hear you are enjoying the base game. Regarding stream vs PC whatever platform you got that’s where you’ll have to stay. So if your in stream be sure to pick up any expansion in stream or if your on PC then you’ll want the pc edition. There two separate licenses even though they run the PC version of FFXIV
@@GingerPrimeGaming I got it from SE store. Couldn’t figure out how to get steams stuff to work or why it seemed messed up so I just did the trail through SE and got the complete edition through them later on.
Awesome, so just so you know, don’t buy the expansions through stream otherwise it won’t work for you. Some people get caught by pre-ordering the expansion on the other platform and end up frustrated
I recently got back into FF Xiv. Started a new character and within 24 hours I'm level 52 and I'm still doing level 40 story quests. The exp boost is defitnely real.
