"Don't do this, it is a waste of time" is a great summary of grinding in Final Fantasy 3, getting every job to Level 99 for every character was too tedious, never again lol
getting all jobs to 99 is above and beyond the most pointless thing ever imo, sure you get unique gear from the smith but by then your just gonna be using onion knights anyway
I know your pain. Got to the end of the game after about 22 or so hours, by the time I maxed out the jobs I was at 400 hours... Thankfully the Pixel Remaster doesn't have that achievement. Instead it only asks for one job to 99 and each character to level 50.
I have been a silent observer for a while now, but I’ve got to say mate …. Bravo! You are literally the pure embodiment of my childhood!! Love every video you do, all the time and energy you put in to make fantastic, quality entertainment is astonishing! If I owned a hat I would tip it towards you like Irvine! Keep up the brilliant work my man!! Thank you! :)
Good video. You can actually do 9999 at low level with Warriors; Warrior's Advance skill is instant, deals 2.4 * damage at job level 99 and you can get good weapons mid game. Four Warriors at job level 99 with descent weapons will deals a shitton of damage killing most things in one turn, including bosses. The downside is that they are as resistant as wet noodles.
@@Primalliquid92 It's supposed to be onion as in vegetable though isn't it? Is it not supposed to be a play on the Japanese idonim for poverty... The onion life? Or to go one further to know one's onions is to be very versatile, which the onion knight is...
i have no idea if thats what they used as the reference when actually making the game or not or if (given the nature of the job and its level of power) it is refering to the mystic side of things
@@Primalliquid92 What games pronounce it as "o-nin"? Every thing I've played has said onion. Also, per the FF Wiki, "The adjective of onion refers to the Japanese metaphoric idiom of poverty, aptly named the "Onion Life", "peeling away one layer at a time and crying all the way". Alternatively, the term could come from the slang phrase "to know one's onions", meaning to be very versatile."
Gotta admire your commitment to this insane grinds and challenge runs. Truly inspirational to the oldschoolers like me who used to do this as kids. Keep up the good work man, hope this helps you with the overlords of YT ;)
@@spokiee2000 He used auto battle which automatically increased the speed of the battles. But he spent 1000 hours WITH the speed increase that auto battle added, that's how long this took! If he was playing the original DS release without auto battle then the time for this grind would have been even more insane than it already was.
Says over 25 years ago, plays a game from 2006. If you really want to OP the game use the NES game please, as the DS version is different from the NES version and it would be interesting to see what you'd do with all the bugs. Why did you call the Onion knight Owning knight? Because you owned the game?
Thank you so much for this video :) I'm actually grinding in the "original" ff3 for the Nintendo DS right now to try and defeat Bahamut at the Dragon's Peak. I built myself an AFK grinding setup out of LEGO (Which unfortunately broke...), because it really is, just like you said, a huge waste of time :)

Yeah but I've got that harder because whenever I tried to access the onion Knight job it never works meaning I can never get it so you kind of have it easier then I do
@@hendriksubhan2154 ff6 would have to be after he had the first 12 party members so it would be how overpowered can we be before Kefka destroys the world IMO and at which point you can grind on the island but he would have to run from everything stealing along the way , cus of the leveling system . Plus he would have to make sure to meet every enemy along the way so when he went to the veldt he could gain all of gau's abilities. While on the veldt he could learn around half of the games spells for everyone without worrying about gaining levels. Now since he'll be at the floating island he can farm genji gloves . Personally I do that until everyone has either vigor or magic around 100 , and I try and set them up in level with the order I will get them back ( if celes is 35 , Sabin 36, edgar 37 , setzer 38, mog 39 , Locke 40 and then what ever order I decide to get them after that ) then I wait till I have everyone in the WoR and I get Odin before I finish Leveling, then I turn odin into Raiden for the quick spell. so I can have a cyan end game at level 97(enemies in the final dungeon have spells that are level specific so 99 will get you 1 shot) , with over 70 speed and I get 80k a turn while holding a shield and standing in the back row. I love that game and I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate (sorry couldn't resist) the cyan slander
Yo primal- I knew you were a gold-tier masochist but um....after learning about this thousand hours of grinding for what amounts to a meme build I've decided you are a Platinum level Masochist and you therefore unlock the title "Timeless and Painless". Description- Your will and fortitude have merged to form a relentless wall that will not be stopped until your goal has been reached. Eternity and suffering mean nothing to you, and your enemies will only learn this lesson as they are overwhelmed by the uncaring bulk of your presence.
i just keep to the Onin phrase because FF is the only series to say onion instead, every other game ect is onin because its an ancient language term for "mystic"
@@Primalliquid92 From what I could find, the use of onion in the title is from (somewhat outdated) Japanese slang meaning poor or useless what at least at the start they are.
The 95 000 000 exp grind takes 82.5 days of 16 hours straight every day. And I'm just assuming it takes 10 seconds for each fight, realistically its at least doubled and probably tripled.
PSA: The pixel remaster recently got a patch that added some quality of life features AND cheats. You can now give yourself double or quadruple XP. Less grinding.
best way to beat this version of the game: Have a party of 3 monks and 1 white mage. Rotate jobs every so often so White mage doesn't lack hp. Encounters never have more than 3 enemies on screen so your 3 monks can 1 shot every enemy at endgame, so no need for magic
Time to use this video as a guide for when I do my first ever FF3 playthrough :D Joking aside goodjob on the massive grind, it's kinda silly how much work you do but it looks like barely anything has happend at the same time.
This is the most insane and pointless grind that I have ever heard of. And that is coming from somebody who 100% the 3D version of this game meaning I maxed out every job in the game.
If it makes you feel any better when I was younger this kind of thing was normal for me. FF8 I'd max level all my characters and GFs as soon as I got them and couldn't work out why the game was so hard. Before I even finished the SEED exam I had 999hrs on my save.
9.5mil exp at roughly 200 per kill... you madman... Then again, if someone decided to get lv255 in Star ocean 3 as soon as possible... that's like what? 6 exp per kill and you need over 4.3mil just to hit lv102... yeah, no thanks.... takes hours to level grind when you hit post game content in most RPGs anyway. In fact, I tried to circumvent that a bit in the game I'm designing cause beating a specific rare enemy will be 5 level ups for the whole party regardless of their level. But that lv cap is also lv300 in a game where you should be lv90+ by the end of the main story
@@Primalliquid92 Star Ocean 2, maybe? It's got the whole thing about making the Eternal Sphere sword, some weirdly hidden grinding spots, and gimmicky hidden stuff everywhere
@@Primalliquid92 I think you would really enjoy it, considering how much of your soul has been grinded into FF XD. It feels that the developers made a ton of subtle methods of becoming overpowered early on. Especially in the Second story for the PS1. Definitely more... intricate I think then FF's
I reached Cloud of Darkness at level 50 with this party... Whm Warrior Warrior Warrior all JL99 I was kinda looking forward to Ninja from what I had heard. It sucked lol because the warriors spamming advance were already OP. This is an issue with all job games though (not wanting to reset all the time) Literally no point in grinding anything except maybe for Iron Giant but I couldn't even access it or anything to do with mognet
Interesting FF never had a job ability that increased / lowered enemy encounter rates. Time Mage seems like the one that would make the most sense to have such an ability. However, since there is no Time Mage they could easily have just slapped it as a passive on one of the other FF3 jobs
This is one of my favorite games of all time, for an NES game it allowed a lot of freedom and creativity in playstyles, and the only punishment for experimenting is a bit of time lost.
Well that "it's NOT RECOMMENDED Warning" is definitly necessary :-) but i know a YT named SolitaryScar Gaming that started FF3 Pixel Remastered (like me) and played it till the cheesy ending as ONION KNIGHT (which is the starting class in PR!) and he had to heavy grind just because he had only Mithril Armor/Weapon till he beat the yellow dragons for a random loot of Onion Knight Weapons/Armors... it was a pain in the back to see how he struggled with some bosses blasting his 4 OKs with AoE damage and when bosses were physical dmg IMMUNE he had to use magic dps items ... and grind them from various mob groups just to beat the bosses... i guess he wasted over 80 hours but YOUR RUN is the icing on the cake 🤣😂🤣😘
Small correction because, you know, what else is a RU-vid commenter supposed to do? The 3D Remake was for the Nintendo DS, not the 3DS. That's why it has that classic DS 3D Model and Texture look. It was also released on mobile devices at a later date, and in doing so it made a few changes to the UI to better accommodate a touch screen and removed the Mognet Online Features where you were supposed to use Wi-Fi to send letters to people, but which obviously no longer works now that Nintendo has stopped supporting those servers. The version on Steam is more or less the mobile version as far as I can tell.
@@Primalliquid92 what older languages? You said yourself you thought Jak and Daxter but the character is literally called Onin... Just doubling down instead of admitting you made a silly mistake lols.
you're an ... (word was blocked by youtube) for doing this. JK, I love your vids! and holy, thanks a lot for the entertainment. 1000 hours, oh my... I have finished my first Disgaea game in 200 hours and it took me a month. oh hey! I rewatched the whole Bleach anime to prepare myself as well! I mean, still am in the middle of watching it, just went past Ulquiorra's fight yesterday, skipped all fillers like usual. I wonder if u watched those karakura heroes boring fillers with Don Kannoji lol.
Ok, so I have about 1200 hours in Fallout 4, and that took me since it came out to get... being at 1000 hours on here is unreal. I am curious how much real life time passed, since I know yall have put out other videos in the mean time... have you been working on this since the beginning of Covid or something?? :D
@@Primalliquid92 okay, fairplay, but on other vids the word "eat" really doesnt sounds like "eat" at all. Sometimes it got me really confused and had to rewind to hear what you said
8:55 You don't need to encounter the nepto dragon. After finishing the Nepto chapter the game will automatically add Nepto Dragon & Number Defeated = 0 to your Bestiary List.
Lol You can easily be overpowered before fire crystal. I get to level 20-23 before seeing hein. The secret is to kill your allies to gain more XP. Level up one or two characters at a time. It makes the grind easier Choose two characters with one job to stick with you from beginning to end and the other two characters will have more than one job as you level through
I can get a max level job in about 3 hours. Trick is to always get a level by guarding 4 times then the last one have one kill and the other block. Do this in goblin forest or susune castle left tower. It has the highest spawn rate in the game.
Holy shit I taped my analog stick to stay to the left and configured my x button to be rapidly pressed in steam so I taped that down too once I got the girl healer in my party it was afk farm. Gg video pal hats off to you and your commitment love the videos
