This game is freaking incredible. Combat, pacing, side stuff, characters, graphics and beautiful environments that I spent way too long just looking at lol. Its near perfection!
I was blown away over 20 years ago as a teenager by FF7 on PSX. It was a game changer to be sure. Looks like warm up is over now with the Remake, the team has found their pairing of modern and nostalgia for Rebirth. Can this old man be blown away again?
Yeah I think we will. Good or bad-we will :P. Imo the the atmosphere of FF7 was key, the music and the build up from midgar, to the open world, to Sephiroth and Clouds personal struggles. Some people just wanted a true remake, mods will do that for us in due time. I see these games/series as for what it is, an alternate version of the gem we played in the past.
Same here, and I'm getting ridiculously hyped with all these good reviews. If they've really nailed this, it's going to be the game of the decade for me easily.
I have to say, Japan seems to really understand the idea of a Remake. Capcom has knocked it out of the park with RE4 remake and now Square Enix with FF7 Rebirth! Along with numerous others that I’m sure you will know.
Hands down the best Rebirth review! Thank you for making it interesting, and covering all the best parts, as I had to watch till the end. And I now have more motivation to finish the game.
I’m so glad this game is finally getting the love it deserves like it was back then in 1997. The dev team should know how much we really appreciate their dedication and craft to the game and community. PROUD TO BE AN FF FAN.
Idk what everyone is on about but this game is 98% side content. It felt real tedious for me..like an endless side quest. And mundane tasks. I've gamed for 20+ years and love the OG. It really burnt me out. Sadly. Some of you will call me a snowflake but are you true gamers? Face reality and the truth.😊
I can’t believe this is actually happening. It seems to be exactly what I was scared to dare hope for. Square has done it, and I think the Final Fantasy brand has reclaimed its golden throne in the genre as the undeniably industry leader. The gameplay looks literally perfect and I know I’m gunna sob like a baby
@@PenguinsAreColdish Well .. Let's not forget that this story was written by a Japanese team. So cringy anime stuff is expected. Also let's not forget, many things we loved back in the day feels cringe and cheesy now.
Rebirth is without the doubt the Final Fantady game we have been waiting for 2 decades and also the kind of modern remake that the actual remake should have been I cant believe that Square-Enix finally managed to get it right, its almost as if entirely different studio made this game, because there's so much obvious love poured into this game
I need to start the second part of the demo and putting in my pre-order too. This game looks amazing and the first part of the demo was great!! I cant wait!
“Diagetic”. I had to look it up, and I love that you bringing new words to learn while making a great review. Well done, and man I’m excited. After a few big budget duds, this is a no brainer. Thank you.
This was a thorough review. Others have been telling some kind of pointless life story or trying to place themselves into the world with a bunch of senseless emotional baggage. Keep up the good work.
get ublock origin, sponsorblock for youtube, and youtube enhancer. They are all browser extensions and make youtube pretty much exactly like revanced, the thing the other comment mentioned.
@@asjejePeople who say this don’t actually play on PC. Remake had a horrible port and they only updated it twice. Majority of Square’s ports are awful to mid at best.
I haven't seen a single bad review for the game so far. Literally not a single review below an 8/10. This game is going to be a once in a lifetime experience!
Probably the greatest game ever made. Absolutely stunning how well they pulled this off, i thought this would be a soulless cash grab. But its simply amazing
Square Enix has been killing it. I loved Dragon Quest XI, Octopath II, FF7 Remake, and FFXV (and a few other smaller games that they have published), and I had a feeling they would knock this out of the park. Really excited to play this one.
I am very excited for rebirth! Dang they are killing it right now huh? Final fantasy 16 I thought was amazing and now early reviews on rebirth are very promising.
For me, this was the only Final Fantasy they could not fail. After FF XV this was my only hope with the franchise and seeing that the game is successful makes me really happy.
Imo they failed it. But maybe it's just me.. I was so looking forward to FF7 Rebirth but it was a huge disappointment for me. Kinda funny because I used to be hyped for FF15 aswell but it turned out to be a disappointment.
Ten hours in and the usual problems with open world has made itself shown. Outside side quest and the main story it’s just filler, a Ubisoft open world design if you will. At least
@@BIGFELLAH26 terrible ideas? That’s how it worked in the original game and was an awesome experience when you could finally come back around and was strong enough to beat it… There is more than a 50% chance it works just how I explained.
Laugh now children…. Go ahead and poke your fun, but just remember they are making this game for ME and MY generation. Guarantee if we took a poll of people familiar with ff7 90% will want the zolom OP for the first encounter. Not only was it awesome to use it as a measuring stick, storywise they used the encounter to SHOW how much more powerful sephiroth was than you. It’s actually a pretty important story arc in the big scheme of things…. So go ahead… poke fun…. Laugh now…. And when the zolom runs your ass on first encounter, just remember I’m sitting here smiling my ass off.
Well, the chapter 2 content is released and played for those that had access to it and put on RU-vid. It includes the Midgar Zolom segment. If you want to know now, you can.
@@vincentgraymore yeah I’m going to count that as a win for me! Whether or not you can come back and fight it again later remains to be seen, but I think that played out close enough to how I described. So eat it NERDS!!!!!!!!!
This is looking really far into the future, but, while this will most likely be the best of the trilogy (it doesn’t have the onus of tying the whole nearly 30 years of content into a tight, satisfying ending) I really hope the next and final entry does the unthinkable and allows you to revisit the ENTIRE world that they have recreated. That’s what made the old Golden Age jrpg’s so legendary. Before the end, you could go back to everywhere you’ve been and discover more content. So here’s to a FF7 Remake part 3 that’s 4 discs and 200 hours of content 😂
This looks good but I can't help but feel the enthusiasm is not genuine. 'Parties level up and this actually unlocks new skills for each individual party member!' Yeah yeah pretty much every game ever does this. Why are you talking about it like it's massive and new. Might as well say 'you can attack enemies and destroy them to gain experience points!'
I think you misunderstood. They're saying there is a party level as well as individual character levels, both of which impact the characters differently. It's not a particularly unique concept but it also is not as universal as what you were saying.
The trial was special looks breathtaking with an joyous soundtrack played it with the lights off and the headphones on and was blown away can't wait to play the full game could well be game of the year
It's nothing like the original game. The plot is convoluted and distracting now and the gameplay itself is lots of padded out busy-work. If they had just made a single game without all this padding by expanding and tweaking the main plot points slightly, just essentially sticking to the same thing (but with new graphics and combat system), it would have gone down in gaming history. This, I promise you, will not. It seems to be a meta narrative for super fans who like the expanded media only. Not fans of the original game for what it is, or newcomers who will just be confused. For example, the Resident Evil Remakes got them right for the most part (except 3 which they royally messed up as they cut loads out and changed the story beats). In those games (1, 2 and 4), they updated the gameplay but stuck broadly to same narrative and plot points, expanding, cutting slightly or updating where it made sense. That's why RE2 Remake and RE4 Remake were so well received.
I still can't believe this is running on Unreal Engine 4. Even the texture quality is so high it looks like Unreal Engine 5. Maybe not every single texture, but you know what I mean. I can't wait for this to hit PC later this summer. I just hope it comes to Steam at the same time as EGS this go round.
@@DoomsdayMayBeOkay I'm aware it's normally an art issue for a game. But a newer engine can allow for higher resolution textures, or more complex textures overall. That's mainly why I said the UE4 engine here almost looks on par with UE5 texture wise aka I'm complimenting the art team :D
@@solid_justice5855 This one supposedly only has (either) a 2 month or 4 month console exclusivity deal. So, if that's the case, I'd imagine work on the PC port is already well on the way to being completed. FF 16 is another story altogether, being it's on a new in-house engine and not Luminous or UE4/5 like the rest of their modern games. Besides, the main producer on FF 16 never gave a date for a PC version, just that it was in the works, and would run best on an SSD if I remember right. And that news was in December as it is.
@@LordLOC FF16 showed it was 6 months exclusive just like Rebirth shows it is 3 months exclusive. Still don’t think you will see it that soon. But who knows
Oh good reviews coming means no delays this time. Honestly was getting ready for them to pull something so close to launch hence the last minute demo. Remember they delayed part 1 for a month or so after initial release date.
It is not a full open world as the genre has today, but it has very open zones/regions that connect to each other, and you can travel the water between the continents. There's the room for at least a few more regions in the final part.
Important question! As someone who only played through about a third of FF7 Remake, am I going to be missing out on any important Narrative if I jump straight into this game?
Yeah, not only will you see certain characters u have no idea who they are but you're already missing major info from crisis core and og since remake is a sequel to those
The climbing mechanic in the demo felt stiff for sure. It can be fixed with a patch and I hope it is. I dont expect Cloud to climb as well as Aloy, but could be better.
My one minor complaint is when you go on a date with aerith, and you gotta find the shells ...it kinda breaks the immersion of being a date when everyone else is following you guys around lol...kinda dumb. Because everything else in the game is so good. And that kinda ruined that part. I can't pretend I might get some off aerith if the whole gang is on the date too. I'm pretty sure she's not into that...but in all seriousness, its an outstanding game. But that really did stand out. Because your alone with her until you get on the chocobo and go on the brach. Then suddenly you got barret poppin up on a chocobo. It kinda ruined the moment lol
Damn! 10/10!!! I thoroughly enjoyed playing FFVII Remake on PC and it was so worth the wait escaping into that world! I know it's gonna be at least 2026 before I get to experience this follow up but it's clearly going to be well worth the wait!
I'll be honest, the completely static grass & plant life looks kind of strange in a world where games like Horizon Forbidden West have been out for a long time now. That game makes this one look like a PS4 game. I feel the graphics could be better for sure, although I get that sacrifices had to be made to get the game developed quickly & with such a massive world. I do hope they spend time improving these elements via updates.
Restarting Remake then Intergrade on easy for the story recap. Then judmping into Rebirth. I have a few friends wanting to watch it via stream to learn the story so def doing that for them. Easy mode should let me breeze right through for em. We are talkig. Countless hours of game play
4 years since part 1 is not the same as a 4 year development cycle…this has been one large game in development all at once cut into 3 pieces. Shits just an update of a multi decade old game. The foundation and story and characters are there. It’s just updating it while the tec to do so has been built long ago. Well before this second title in the series was teased. Idk about you but I expected the full game all at once not a decade+ of a multi part retelling of a story we know with slight differences and way more modern controls and visuals. This is one game released as early access in bits years apart.
Remake was almost as if they realized just how massive a challenge making this game would be and so they rushed to finish the first one. I liked it because I love these characters but it felt incomplete and like a promise of things to come. This feels like what we wanted originally. I wish the first part was folded into this one instead of being rushed out
WHOMEVER created the clock trial inside of the cetra temple and signed off to n those traumatic ass scenes needs to be awarded and then promptly FIRED. the last two chapters of this game were so emotionally daunting for me. i love this cast of characters and this story so much and they are doing these remakes so much justice. the only complaint i have is the repetitive world intel, but i can see how it prepared me for endgame material
I cant fucking wait. I got covid too so I got the week off and can play like a degenerate on release day😂😂😂 Bravo Square!! I lost my mind seeing Ramuhs exit attack in the demo
The way the characters move across the ground is wonky. Especially uneven terrain. And the prompting for interaction with chests, doors etc is a bit finicky. But other than that looks perfect.
I agree, I noticed a metric ton of jank in just the flashback demo alone, but if that allowed them to focus more on opening up the game instead of tunneling it down with super-linearity like FFX, FFXIII and FFVIIR, I think it's worth it
Wow. This is the real power of iteration. Instead of starting over with every title, just keep building on what you have. Congrats to the team that pulled this off.
I honestly HATE hearing that they went with a cartoony style of writing throughout, although I am not one bit surprised, as that is pretty much how Japanese writing does things. Same with Anime. To be honest tho, I wish Japanese storytelling would evolve. It has been STALE as all hell for a long, LONG time now. Most Anime & JRPG characters these days are cookie cutter Trope factories. I am also not a fan of goofy, unrealistic character personalities. I would have much preferred this game kept the more realistic, serious story of the OG game, but of course the trends are what they are & this is the trend of Japanese writing at the moment, for better or for worse.... I fear the characters in this game won't be the ones we know & love from the OG game, but instead will be replaced with mostly current Japanese tropes. Barrett for instance, he was about as serious as a heart attack thru most of the OG game, and that's EXACTLY how I like him! Now however he seems to be more of a goofball for comedic relief. That is not the Barrett I know & love. I truly hope this isn't a prevalent theme thru this game's character dialogue...
@@bigpesoproductions1413how did u not like the combat in the remake but u liked it in rebirth there are literally the same except in rebirth it’s expanded upon
Hey, what happened to the Level to carry over feature? Also beautiful scenery doesn’t equate good game, look at FFXV; completely barren. Only suckers support a Janky game that lost all its roots from the original.
