Not only have you caught me off guard, but you have unleashed a strong urge to go back and replay FF4 for the millionth time. Knowing I won't hear this version of Golbez's theme is enough to allow me to go on about my day without that detour though. Even after all you've done in the past I still didn't expect this to be as incredible as it is.

Yeah, no kidding. I remember when I was a kid, borrowing the game on SNES for a summer from my cousin. The music stuck with me forever. Imagine my genuine surprise when the boss battle theme played in Super Mario RPG years later. It makes so much sense that I am such a VG music nerd when I look back at just how far ago it started. Listening to this takes me back to the 90's man.

i used this a few weeks ago for a d&d campaign. needless to say the music helped strike fear in the hearts of the party. after all, golbez was the big bad...for a while.

Bravo! Two notes in and I was slamming the subscribe button! There's a pivotal moment in FF4 that I would love to hear what you could do with. The music that plays at the top of Mt. Ordeals where Cecil becomes a Paladin inside the 'monument'. There's a certain emotion to it that's pretty awesome when you have context to the scene. I'll cross my fingers and pray one day you feel inspired to flex your amazing talents and cover that one.

Oh my God! This is amazing! I loved the way it sounded before in the original and GBA versions but this is great! It makes me wish that Square-Enix would hire some people or a network to turn the games into a TV series with one game being covered per season. If they did that and added music of this caliber, I would be the happiest man alive. This has just made my morning, thank you.

epic! would love to see you do the battle theme from ff4, its one of my fav tracks, and a random request would love to see you do turrican 2 traps, the original amiga chiptune considering it had 4 channels was a masterpiece, still think your battle of the 4 fiends is 1 of the greatest video game music covers ever its literally perfect :) cant wait to see what you do next :D

I’ve listened to a number of the tracks you have done and love them all. This rendition of Clad in Darkness is by far the best I’ve heard to date. Ominous and truly fitting. My only complaint is that it isn’t long enough. Needs an extended version unless 1 exists someplace. On another note for your consideration would u ever look at doing some Secret of Mana tracks. I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about the state of the music in the ps4 remake and would love to listen to your versions if you chose to do that. A few tracks in particular desperately could use your attention lol

Malcolm, the whole arrangement (including the choir) is created with software, correct? In your software, what is the "language" of the choir? I find very interesting that the choir voices seem to have distinct word pronunciations (as if they are singing in a language I don't understand), despite being produced by a software.

Yes, it was entirely created with software, but the software uses sample libraries, which are made with real recordings. Almost all the choir sample libraries that I own have a number of Latin-like syllables such as "Tus" and "Fah" that you can put into any sequence you want. If you put them together properly (as I hope I did in this track), it sounds like a choir singing in some indistinct language. EWQL also has a series of choir libraries with a word builder tool that lets you put together your own custom syllables using consonants and vowels. This takes infinitely more time and it's much harder to get a realistic result, so I generally don't use it.

Your playlists have been regularly accompanying me through my work hours. In fact, I just recently started playing and completed Undertale, thanks to your playlist.
