Garnet's development is just one of the many fantastic aspects of the FFIX cast. Steiner, Zidane, Garnet, even Vivi, all grow as people, expanding their understanding of the world, of living, of doing the right thing. Steiner struggles between his loyalty to the throne and his moral conscience, eventually converting the hardened general Beatrix to the side of good. Zidane discovers his purpose and rejects it completely, killing the man who gave him life. Garnet goes through a sweep of changes.
Freya learns how to be on her own and be okay, and is rewarded by rediscovering her true love. Quina learns if you don't fight to the death for more life, there are no more tasty treats! Amarant learns that he's an idiot.
This is that part of the game you were finally free to explore the world. I love it. We're out here doing hero shit on a prototype airship built by a guy who just came back from being a frog. Truly epic fantasy.
Thank you for extending this piece! This is my favorite airship theme in FF, and most likely my favorite airship theme for RPG in general. Though my favorite FF doesn't really have an OST as good as FF8's or FF10's, the best music in it are still top notch. With this now there are extended VGM for just about every types of my favorite RPG themes: - main - normal battle battle, boss, main boss battle, final boss battle - town - character - event, dramatic - world map - airship - field, dungeon
The cheery music really fits the story: just before one gets the Hilda Garde III Garnet breaks out of her depression, regains her voice and cuts her hair, a major turning point.
I kind of have the sense most of the airship themes in the FF series have that, and it kind of makes sense. I'm not sure if they were directly going for the same vibe as that movie or if it's just what ends up happening in a JRPG, but all of the themes seems to try and convey the "childlike magic" of flight. I think the reason the series prefers to stick with airships rather than move on to something like planes is because an airship gives you the sense of "riding something" whereas once you're in a plane you're "sitting in a room that shakes a bit". ...That long-winded schpiel aside, I also think this is the most "Neverending-Story-Like" of the airship songs...and I'm a little upset you don't get to hear this one for that long as you only get the Hilda Garde III for a bit and once you get the Invincible it's over. :(
Gah! You just made my brain explode with the notion! Trance, extreme burst of emotion resulting in transformation and power boost. Super saiyan, the same! Zidane when tranced, grows pink and purple fur (also Kuja goes all red), Goku SS4, grows red fur! Am I reading too deeply, or is this a hidden homage...?
The way the snuck in Amur Town's theme leitmotif from FFIII (literally the best underrated theme) at 1:12 is smooth AF, so now AFAIK VII Advent, IX, X-2, BE, Mobius (presumably) had done this
+JamesCrossSP yeah thats the biggest prob with this game.Because of story reasons (which is so good that I can forgive them) the airship timing is handled terribly.
This music reminds me of the never ending story. HELL, FF9 reminds me of the never ending story... Bizarre Love Triangle reminds me of the never ending story... Secret of Mana reminds me of the never ending story...(riding on the back of flammy) Dammit, im stuck in an 80's nostalgia loop ! Everything comes back to the never ending story for some reason. It never ends...
Majoras Mask? Both have creatures that eat rocks, both feature a giant turtle awakening, that was mistaken for a hill. And I feel like there were others but Im drawing a blank.
Technically Terra and Celes had a reason too. Terra couldn't remember who she was and she didn't know how to love because the empire used her as a weapon all those years. And Celes thought that after Cid died that everyone in the world was dead and that's why she tried to commit suicide.
One of the daggers is far more beautiful than the other XD. The song is nice to... I too am in the fourth disc and I miss it now... Even if "evil mist return" is nice too.
So...Vincent Valentine didn't have a reason? His girlfriend kills his father, and leaves him for a dirty, old scientist, he gets shot and experimented on, blames himself and loses 30 years of his life sleeping, and "atoning for his sins". I believe I'd become emo, too if that ever happened to me...
Cloud had his hometown destroyed, no family left, and most of all had a friend which might felt kind of romantic feeling killed in front of him unable to save her. Vincent was cheated on by the slut lucrecia and hojo, got mutated. squall was an orphan n was separated from ellone the only person that care for him. come on if any of this happen to us we would be a depressed as well cut them some slack.
It made sense why. Sure the tune is an optimistic one but the world covered in mist and roots, the lack of HG3 would've made it unfitting. Good thing RU-vid exists as well as a backup file!
Yes! The melodies are so similar, Nobuo had to have been inspired by that theme. Even the lyrics from the song are "Let's build a giant airship and sail into the sky...". Can't be a coincidence.
still not an excuse for fully grown 25 year old men to be acting like angsty, 13 year old girls on their period. and might I ad that Cloud was originally the person who tried to kill her. Good night.
