5:44 Two words for FF8's love story: cultural differences. Hugging is not much of a big deal in the US, but for Japanese people, it's very intimate, almost moreso than actual kissing. So after Rinoa attempts to sacrifice herself and Squall finally gets out of his emotional rut to do something about it, their hug was supposed to wrap that all up. Rinoa is saved, Squall's less of a cold-hearted jackass, now time to kick sorceress ass. It's overall a lot more subtle than Americans are used to, but as far as I'm concerned, the "love" element of the plot was still solid.

FFXV has to be the best logo in my opinion. The fact that the meaning of it is revealed in the end and how this whole time it was actually unfinished was breathtaking. If you finished the game then I'm sure you understand how.

FFVIII's entire story revolves around love and romance. Laguna and Raine, Rinoa and Seifer, Squall and Rinoa, Edea and Cid. Outside the time manipulation and memory loss, the story follows many love stories.

Final Fantasy VIII love story is Squall saving Rinoa through time over and over again. Forever. And I mean Forever. Time Loop.

I loved FF8's love story. It's a pretty believable love story mainly if you're able to empathise with Squall. Which I think is a problem with western gamers mainly from what I notice, they tend to not empathise with characters like Squall.

The FFXV is supposedly the goddess etro in the world of the fabula nova crystalis series which FFXIII was part of. But since they removed that fabula nova crystalis theme from the series, they still retained the goddess concept but it won't be the goddess etro. Etro is supposedly the one-winged goddess who oversees the unseen world (aka. the land of the dead) and the original concept was that in the world of Eos, namely the kingdom of insonmia, Etro was their protector. That's as far as I can get

I loved the Squall and Rinoa love story :). It went pretty well for me, i love how Rinoa is being cute towards Squall and him ignoring it. But when she lost consciousness for a while he missed her, her voice and everything and that scene where he piggyback her to the bridge while sunset. aww come on. It's better than CLoud and Tifa romance, atleast for me. The best is FFX love story tho

FF VIII will always be dear to me. The game introduced me to JRPG and RPG, my beloved genre in gaming.

I found Laguna's love story much better in FF8. The song "eyes on me: that plays at the end is sung by Laguna's love interest and the lyrics are her feelings for him. Heck I think they should of had a Final Fantasy that was only about Laguna and his gang.

Completely disagree about FF8. Definitely top 3 final fantasies and everything about it was great. FF8, FF10 and FF4 were the best ones. Although you can't really say any of them are bad.. Just some are slightly better than others. Everyone hated FF13 so much but honestly just the part between beginning-middle sucked. It had an incredible story though.

Heavensward's logo more than likely features Nidhogg, as he is the main aggressor in the Dragonsong War. It also features the city of Ishgard in the background, as it a major location introduced in the expansion, and amidst the pointed lances, a tiny Dragoon mid-jumping, either the player or Estinien Wyrmblood, a central character in the story of both Heavensward and the Dragoon job questline before the expansion. Also, each major content patch, both between A Realm Reborn and Heavensward and between Heavensward and the upcoming Stormblood, each have logos of their own but not in the same style so I won't bother getting into that. Stormblood also has a pretty rad logo, featuring Ala Mhigan Resistance fighters.

I knew there would be spoilers but I didn't expect the FF13 spoiler like that. I'm 23 hours into it. Well.... that sucks.

In FF8, the real focus of the game is actually the relationship between Squall and Rinoa rather than the story of how they save the world. In most game the hero will have to face many hardships, overcome his past, make trustworthy friends, in order to achieve his objectives (like saving the world). In FF8 it's reversed : The main focus of the game is to see Squall evolve and grow as a person throught his relationships, and all the obstacles he will face while trying to save the world are there for him to confront himself. It was what the creators of the game intended and the logo is perfectly clear about that. In a way, it's the most subject centered logo of all the serie !

PissywhinebucketSquall. nO. I enjoy SQUALL. Honestly, FFVIII is very underrated and takes a lot of crap from the fans. In my opinion, I love the thought of sorceress and even though the time part is slightly confusing and means that somewhere in the future when Rinoa dies she passes it onto someone who presumably passes it onto Ultimecia at some point. But when you really wrap your head around it, it’s quite a nice story with the relationship between Squall and Rinoa.

Well, after FF 15, it's back to REMAKE FF7! That's finally come true!

re: the FFXIV: Heavensward logo, you learn pretty early on into the content that the city in the background is Ishgard, the new city-state that much of the expansion content revolves around, and the dragon is the main antagonist of the expansion, which you also learn early on, is Nidhogg. Also the Stormblood logo is now out, but there's only speculation for that one so far, but it does look a lot like an entire army on that one, probably because we're looking to take back Ala Mhigo from Imperial control in this expansion.

FF8 is still my favorite in the series. If a remake ever happens I will be the first one in line

The ff8 love story thing worked on me when I was like 13-14. In fact, because of the impact it had on my then, I still look back on the story fondly now. I think it's one of those nostalgia things probably, but it was pretty impactful on me at that point. Also, Squall is a textbook tsundere - cool on the outside but open on the inside. This is a very common trope in Japanese media, so I guess it makes sense why it wouldn't land in the US, but for whatever reason it made sense to me at the time when I played it.

A lot of people seem to miss that X's logo, which obviously has Yuna represented in her water dance scene as you pointed out, is actually opposed by Sin. The right side is a depiction not of water but of the games main threat and reason for the worlds plight.

FFVIII is my favorite and I love Squall. I relate to him as a character so much and that's why it's sad to see just how much hate the world has for people like us. "Pissy whine bucket"? Look at Noctis. I also appreciate the beautiful love story that is very real; how Rinoa and co. eventually got through to Squall and melted his ice-cold personality after going through both negative & positive parts of their journey.

How is FF8's love story bad? Rinoa literally became Ultimecia so she could be with Squall. Love in Japan is a very subtle thing, different from that of western countries.

The FFIII logo is representing the "Warriors of THE Light" aka the 'Onion' Knights from the original 1990 game, though it doesn't make sense for the 2006 DS remake unless it was repurposed as a representation of Luneth.

Final Fantasy VIII was an incredible game, the love story is damned good too I think. The loner Squall who feels he doesn't need help, friends and least of all love. It's a long damned game, so you see him slowly grow a fondness for his 'friends' (albeit like a brotherly military bond which happens when you have no choice but to have comrades in battle) He encounters the very bubbly and cheerful Rinoa on a very small seemingly 'waste of time' mission as 'SeeD' mercenaries are specially trained for bigger more important missions, Squall doesn't particularly see eye to eye with her and her naive look on the world and well conflicts with her a lot and they're pretty much opposites. Fast forward a bit and after many missions with comrades and Rinoa in tow, Squall opens up to his comrades more even starts to worry about them on their Trabia Mission and Rinoa notices this. Fast forward some more and Rinoa is caught in the midst of this battle to save the world from Sorceress Ultimecia as the plot thickens rather quick, as soon as Rinoa goes catatonic after being possessed, Squall undergoes an inner conflict, suddenly he feels sadness and fear that Rinoa actually might never wake, things hes never aloud himself to feel for another, at least since childhood. He was too busy reminding himself he doesn't need anyone, he can take care of himself, he didn't notice the attachment that grew between him and his comrades and more so Rinoa, the one person who put up with him and still tried to get him to open up. Squall does everything in his power to find a way to bring her out of this comatose state and eventually sends himself and Rinoa to space to find a way to fix her. She gets possessed again and when she snaps out of it shes floating in space, probably never to be found again as the people in the space station are urgently evacuating and heading back to earth. Squall hops in a suit and heads out after he, one of the most gut wrenching scenes in the game. Shortly after they're aboard an adrift Ragnarok airship, defeat the creatures within and eventually, perhaps partially they open up to each other, a beautiful scene. When they land Rinoa has to be taken to the 'Sorceress memorial' as she now possesses sorceress powers and must be contained for safety, Squall, the military leader knows protocol and doesn't object until his friends berate him into seeing reason and they fly to sorceress memorial, the scientists there object and try to deter Squall but he draws his blade and cuts the chamber open where Rinoa is being held and that's when she comes to embrace him and Squall (for the first damned time) reciprocates and embraces right back, giving in to his feelings for her, because of the stoic, lone wolf character his was throughout the game who would refuse help and connection with others finally lets go and holds her close, the fear and sadness he felt when she was in a coma awoke something and yeah. In summation it is one of the greatest love stories I had ever witnessed, watching it play out over 3 discs really gives you a large bit of story to get to see it unfold. Tirade over.

That ff8 shade was uncalled for imo its the best love story in ANY game I've played to date.

FF XV is Luna sleeping. In the ending the logo gets an add to it. Wich is magnificent. Everything in that games story and ending is magnificent.

It really captures the whole idea when you know that the name Final Fantasy came about because they expected there to be one game, but it blew up and now it just won't stop.

FF1: The first logo for the NES title was a simple blue design of katakana in Japan with dark-red lettering in the West. For the re-release of the game Final Fantasy Origins, however, Amano's design centered around the Warrior of Light in blue, reflecting the original Japanese design. It was changed once again in 2007, putting him in a different pose for the 20th-Anniversary version of the game on PSP. FF2: The first logo for the sequel game was a light dragon-like design with italic lettering and bright purple fading into a blue. The redesign by Amano for Origins centered around Emperor Matheus, the main antagonist of the game, in pink. Fun fact RE: the Heavensward logo. It is actually a painting that can be seen in game depicting the fall of Ratatoskr, one of the 7 great Wyrms. The logo is Thordan and his knights of the round slaying Ratatoskr, the event that set the background for the Dragonsong War.

FFXV logo. The sleeping woman is Eos, the Greek Goddess of the Dawn. The Plague of the Star threatens to plunge FFXV's world (called Eos) into eternal darkness, my theory is that towards the end of the games you have to find and wake the Sleeping Eos to raise the dawn and reverse the The Plaghe of the Star. Only 3 days away.

I’ve always thought that the FFXV logo is symbolism that the Leviathan is what causes Lunafreya’s death. Because it showed up, she died (Turning point). Her resting is her death. Then, of course, it transforms.

I love the Sending in X. I just.... it's still THE top moment of ANY video game for me. Even beating out a lot of moments from LoZ which is my favorite gaming series of all time. So that speaks volumes of how impactful and stunning that scene is.

X, XIII and XIV are my favorite logos so far.

4 years late: FF3 logo is the main protagonist "Luneth". The ponytail is the hint/giveaway. As for dual wielding...well.... it was a pretty big feature in the game as everyone would do it. no matter the class. These days though, I dont think anyone associates Luneth or his party of the warriors of light with the game, as even in the Dissidia games, FF3 is only represented by the Cloud of Darkness and Unknown "Onion Knight"

I actually remember, that the logo of FFXV was already explained years ago. The sleeping woman is Etro (Do you remember the painting Noctis and Stella were staring at when 15 was named Versus 13? That's Etro aswell), who plays a role in FF XIII-2. And XIII(-2), Lightning Returns, Type-0 and XV are in the same universe (or have the same backstory) But well, this was the explaining when it was named Versus 13, it could have changed of course but it makes sense, you know. Looking at the Omen-Trailer you can see the chaos realm Noctis is fighting Luna and yeah... the chaos realm or rather the unseen realm is a part of the entire universe and Etro lived in Valhalla, which was a path to the real world and the chaos.

WTF dude? I lack empathy, and rarely feel anything, but holy shit FFVIII made my eyes wet. The logo scene where Squall embraces Rinoa was the best scene in the game.

Just wait until you finish 15, the ending has been staring you in the face in the best way like 13. Enjoy it!
