same here buddy. What cans you using? My daily's are V Moda M-100 or Old first gen AKG K240 Sextett(orange passives), but my favorite is the AKG K340(bass heavy version), they are just too heavy. You got any recommendations?
Excellent choice. I knew this would sound great just seeing it, the sound of Mystic Quest just lends itself well to what the Genesis does and sounds like. Great execution, too.
After listem the original version and Your Genesis version manytimes, i need say: GENESIS version is best (but i love a two versions). Thanks for this ♥
ok, I didn't know about the original so I let it play 3 times before listening to your cover. Funny enough, at first I was surprised at how nice the guitar sounded on SNES which usually has awful, dumb-sounding guitars (yup! For the most part SNES guitars are complete crap in my book) but then I listened to your cover and when I went back to the original tune, all of a sudden the guitar sounded rather dumb ^^' and the snare in SNES are just weak and bland (another recurrent issue with SNES music). Too bad cuz the original tune is nicely composed regardless of the instrumentations... ... until ChiptunedRaijin came to the rescue with his cover full of improved guitar and snare and dem PSG leads (0:29) are always a delight! Just, maybe that you went a bit too metal with your cover? If the 3rd lead here 0:40 would have ogled towards something rather "heroic fantasy-sounding" then this would have been the full package but still, as it is, a well-deserved 8,5/10 for this great cover.
Honestly, most of the game's samples sound so like Megaman X (especially X2) that it surprises me this game wasn't secretly outsourced to Capcom or something; but I think Ryuji Sasai did a good job by going with that vibe, since the style for the battle themes here is just wonderful, and like most Megaman X songs, it transitions quite well to Genesis territory ;)
Hmmm... For me, the original guitars arer rather unbeatable, they sound like the're sampled... Maybe you are right about the snare, but the toms from the original have a lot of power as well. Also the lead synth is quite gorgeous on the original... Anyway, this cover is pretty good!
FFMQ had the best guitar, but the trumpet and solo lead were a bit much. your replacements to those are quite nice. going to headbang to this for a few days
