To be fair Cloud held very well against sephirot, people forget he fought a dragon, fought two clones on his bike and fought another clone, all this before this fight.
@@NjorunsZeal exhausted? How ? Cloud kill the bahamut IN A SINGLE BLOW thanks to his entire team who weakened the dragon ; the fight in the bike versus the two dudes lasted only a few seconds , in fact after that cloud was perfectly fine during the talk with vincent . The fight versus the final gay was completely on one side , in fact before sephiroth cloud never even break a sweat. Before sephiroth cloud at full strenght and in perfect shape also thanks to aerith who took off the disease from cloud's body .
@@santiagojimenez8232advent children complete was released in Japan 16 April 2009 where sephiroth said this line after stabbing him. In 2005 version he stabbed him when cloud was at the floor without saying anything which was lame. Edit: I had to check the 2005 version and must correct myself. Sephiroth did say the line "Tell me what you cherish most. Give me the pleasure of taking it away." Then Cloud gets quick flashback of all people he loves and unstabs himself.
I always felt like it's such a last ditch effort too. Cloud really wants to gain some advantage in that moment cause he is tired. When he flees he puts the blade back together because it is too exhausting to hold both at once and tries to catch a breathe before Sephiroth engages again.
Yeah, the cinematography was really action-pacted and over-the-top epic. Exactly what this movie needs. I din't understand shit when I watched it as a child, cause I never played any FF by that time. But I really loved the movie anyway. So many nice actions scenes.
I'm from Brazil, and at the time I didn't know english nor japanese, and I got a pirated dvd with only these options. I loved the move so much, even though I didn't understand nothing (not even played the game), that I watched it many many times.
Cloud's Omnislash to finish the fight here is one of the most epic moves ever, the way he splits his weapon and attacks from every angle, Sephiroth wasn't ready for it at all.
Even better part is earlier in this fight when Cloud glows blue, he uses the exact OG omnislash he used in FF7 game and Sephiroth reads it like a book. But Sephiroth never saw Omnislash version 5 and he got absoluty bodied by it.
Even cooler is the way his afterimages all landed to the ground along with the rest of his swords mostly kneeling down while the original Cloud standing straight
I believe that as long as Cloud is prepared to fight Sephiroth again and again, he will find ways in defeating Sephiroth. Each time differently of course. Given that there are multiple omnislash versions, Cloud will always have a very good chance against Sephiroth no matter when they decide to throw hands.
This was so far back. At the time this was groundbreaking and while I still think this is amazing even by today's standards. It really makes me appreciate how far we've come in the remakes graphics 🙌
Yes, this is a total remake. The story is still the same, but a lot has changed like how Jenova is in Midgar! This changes everything. Also, I don't know if you have finished FF VII remake, but at the end I expected it to say "PLEASE INSERT DISC 2"
Wasn't Jenova in Midgar in the original as well? After Nibelheim, that is - her body was transferred to Shinra lab afaik. It's even the reason that Sephiroth assaults the Shinra HQ in the first place.
@Goddess Shadow and to add on, we still can’t use Buster Sword’s 7 detachments in combat btw. Square had all the technology but can’t bother to do the iconic sword justice
Looking back the sword clashes are less intense than I remember, still good, still great choreography but it's lacking the impact that I remember it having.
Advent Children Cloud: I can easily jump 200 meters upward. Who need wings anyway? FF7 Remake Cloud: The gap between these two platforms are more than 2 meters. I cant cross it 😭
My grandma was a big fan of action movies (bruce willis, jean Claude van damme, Sylvester Stallone were among her favourite movie stars) Me and my brother were watching this movie on the living room, she went to the kitchen for a glass of water and when she returned, this scene was happening, without saying anything she sat next to us and just kept watching until the fight was over. After that she just smiled, said "that was very intense!" And left. I still remember it fondly because of how weirdly nice it was to see her enjoying it, and how i find interesting that re-watching this reminds me of her...
My grandma and I watched Advent Children before I completed Final Fantasy VII (Original) and she thought that the plot was very interesting. I was able to fill her in on some of the things we didn’t know about in the movie after completing FFVII (i.e. who the mysterious man in the wheelchair (Rufus) was and why he wanted to bring back Shinra. In general, she thought it was a pretty cool movie.
Poor cloud because of the reunion theory having jenova cells he will never truly get rid of sephiroth until he dies, when he says disappear and become a memory it hits you even harder.
Yes. I was just thinking about it. Maybe the reason sephiroth keeps coming back is that cloud has jenova cells within him. So to finally destroy sephiroth...maybe cloud has to die..
@@ono_o_o It would be a 'good' ending. I mean, what kind of life is Cloud going to have? Is he happy? He doesn't seem interested in Tifa. Is he even interested in other women? Is he going to run his business or get a job, and get old and decrepit, and then pass away slowly? I don't think that's the kind of life that Cloud envisions himself living. Maybe this time Cloud dies and Zack lives?
The irony is...Sephiroth himself is a backwater boy. From Nibelheim, no less. That just adds more layers to their twisted mirror relationship. That's WHY Sephiroth works as a villain.
I thought I was the only 1 I was just about to type that comment as well. THANKFULLY I forgot I was still scrolling being memorized by this fight once again. 😅 Until, the fight was over and I landed on your comment with the chills/goosebumps x3. 💯👍🏾🤷
@@Ray-xd9oy yeah ik, BUT WHY DO THEY TORTURE THE SUPER MARIO BROTHERS? MARIO GOT KILLED BY RIDLEY AND LUIGI GOT KILLED BY THAT THINGY (i dont play that game lol ) and then ... mario almost got impaled :c
@@kyzersoze8408 Actually tho, he didn't have hardly any strength til Hojo got ahold of him. He has Hojo to thank for his godlike ability. Otherwise he'd still be nothing but a lowly Shinra Security scrub.
@@skins4thewin and by your logic sephiroth must also be thankful to shinra and hojo/lucrecia experimenting him and making him the strongest super soldier or else he will just be a normal scrub
True! Final Fantasy: Advent children is actually the reason why I fell in love with FF series. When I was young, I saw it when this was shown in one of our TV channels. The movie was already at the part where they're fighting Bahamuth after seeing it till the end. I instantly fall in love.
I like how Marlene senses Aerith...I get the idea her spiritual power is opposing Sephiroth and somehow keeping his spiritual power in check, which is why Seph isn't using magic as much as he could.
No, what's happening here is Aerith is TRYING to help with the life-stream enhanced rain which will cure Geostigma, but Sephiroth is blocking her attempts. It harkens back to Sephiroth blocking Holy which was trying desperately to stop Meteor. It isn't until Sephiroth's defeat that Holy in the first game, and Aerith in this movie can do what they set out to do.
3:13 I always believed that while Cloud was fighting Sephiroth, that presence of Aeris that Marlene sensed, she was praying for the world even in death as her spirit lingered, giving Cloud the strength needed to defeat Sephiroth.

I think Sephiroth was ultimately toying with him, cause throughout the fight we see Sephiroth is seemingly able to move massive distances in seconds like how he's cutting parts off the building when he's off cam for like 1 second. Plus the way he's just flying close to the end.
“I will never be...a memory.” I do regret not getting *this* version. I only have the original version. It was nice to see the extended fight, but only *some idea* of what they’re saying. Seeing the Zach cutscene, I wanna know what was said there. And the omnislash finish was better in this version, obvi.
According to the subtitles, Zack basically encourages Cloud and ends up saying "Do not forget it..." To which Cloud replies: "I am proof of your existence." I wish I could do a full translation of that part for you lol.
Zack: so what if it is hopeless, if it was me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dream and no matter what happens never forget your honour as Soldier. Well you never get to be Soldier but it's the heart that counts. Cloud: Zack... Zack: well, do you need help? Cloud:(shakes head) Zack: He's an enemy you've beaten before right? This should be easy. Cloud: yeah Zack: never forget.... Cloud: I am the proof of your existence.
I don’t know for some reason i’ve been watching this battle for 14 years and not been fed up with it even a bit 😁. It’s been that epic to this day, to this moment right now. The music, the characters, the graphics, the battle, all the dialogues and emotions are insane...... Oh and their fucking cool outfits and swords too!😍
I just finished playing remake PC version last night. It’s amazing how far we’ve come. This movie graphics is good but I never thought that I would play a video game better than this.
First time seeing this scene. As a Kingdom Hearts player, I know that you can really only survive Sephiroth, but GOD DAMN. I'm amazed Cloud managed to get up after getting shanked like that.
Back in 2008 I worked at an electric retails and we would have one big T.V display where I would play the dvd of the movie every shift on it. Everyone loved it and when one winged Angel played it would make my shift that little better.
@@frillydress It's a Fusion Sword created exclusively for Cloud after he placed Buster Sword where Zack died after the end of FF7. Actually it has 5 parts that can be used individually as he usually sheathed them on his back and in his bike. When fused all parts together it becomes a full greatsword with great power surpassed the Buster Sword.
XD
Well, 2020 has been very generous to this video/fight sequence. First by serving as a prelude to Final Fantasy 7 Remake and again because Sakurai loves this fight sequence.
I keep coming back to this year's later because that sound sephiroth's sword makes is like asmr lmao, I'd love whatever that sound is to be isolated audio. If he come at me with that it'd be the most chilled out death ever 😂
Lol. Some kind of life force and destiny stuff, with future -flashbacks- premonitions, that let cloud get into his post AC form with the clothes and fusion sword. But it will work similar to summon mechanic in certain encounters.
@@lucasalexanderhernandezher6482 Pero llega un morro de pelo castaño con zapatos de payaso y una llavesita y encierra a Sefirot en una dimensión paralela.
I never saw this one, or played any FF game, but seeing it right now i understand the hype for Sephiroth, his trailer had so many iconic scenes from this animation fight.
A fight like this in such a movie is why I'll always be a Final Fantasy fan.....as far as I know, this is one of the best ending fights in an animated movie ever.
