Her words leading up to the Altar hit me in the gut. She loves her people soooo much. All she wanted was to protect her friends and family.

You composed yourself much better than I did at that first part. I was literally just button mashing while full-on sobbing.

This game is a masterpiece, my fav of all time for sure.

Ending is intentional to be confuse(Devs themselves said it too)I was also disappointed/hollow (literally what is Cloud mind is) but after processing it for one week this is the best way they could portray it and if you piece it up together is brilliant. It's because we all were expecting it on that scene and prepared. Life ain't that way. Well great reaction. Have fun putting all together and theory craft.

Once the battle against Jenova Lifeclinger began I couldn't hold my tears back. The music really hits hard here...

Love how the final fight took place on water. Makes you think that fight is going on in Clouds mind while he is physically lowering Aerith into the water. This is why we don’t see him do it, he is in denial and fighting seph in his head and get the scene afterwards with cloud and the crew staring at the lake. Also Aerith is cracked in that fight lol. 100% mind fight. I liked the ending as long as they pay it off in part 3. Taking some emotional payoff away for now for the climax (part 3) will be fine. They just gotta stick that part. Gonna make clouds lifestream reveal with tifa so much better, if that’s what they are doing. Cheers.

Clouds mind is even more fractured now, he can't accept Aerith is gone and Sephiroth will use this to fuck with Cloud.

The moment Cloud stopped Sephiorth's sword, I thought my broken 13 year old heart was finally going to be mended. Only to be ripped out again. Then to have to fight the last battle with her theme playing, I took a break as well and let it all out. 😭😭😭😭😭

I think it's safe to say that we were all experiencing the same emotions during Aerith's death. 😭

In my opinion, I don’t think there’s a multiverse at play here. Those alternate timelines are INSIDE and part of the lifestream, which was also shown in the og FF7. Yep, you heard that right. The rift that Cloud saw in the ending was also in the og FF7. It was during the part where Tifa is fixing Cloud’s fucked up mind. It may look similar to the rift, but it has the same color. They are only expanding the timeline thingy using the black and white whispers. Also, one detail you missed during the first phase of the Jenova fight was that, everyone’s limit break is in full bar, while Cloud is zero, because everyone saw and believed that Aerith died, while Cloud knows he saved her and is alive in an alternate timeline or whatsoever. But nah, I believe that Aerith is dead. Our main Aerith is dead. The “alive” Aerith is inside the lifestream, and that’s just it. She won:t be able to interact with the gang (unless she permits herself to), except Cloud

Gotta love a game that gives you a tutorial at the FINAL BOSS. 😂. Man. I love Final Fantasy.

Drew, what a pleasure to watch your playthrough, especially wanted to see your reactions to this final chapter. Had to wait until I finished the game myself, so took me a couple weeks longer, but what a journey this has been! I also had to pause the game conpletely to try and compose myself. I failed miserably 😅

Interesting how Zack doesn’t have a model in the menu at 27:26. Also very interesting that there’s a conspicuous gap in the credits at 1:45:30 where Aerith would have opened her eyes… in fact all the Aerith scenes are missing after that, except the one where she’s standing in the field and says “Goodbye.”

Doing that fight sobbing was an interesting experience.

Crazy ending. But holy, the most crushing part out of all of this, is Tifa not saying a WORD after Aerith died. She is DEVASTATED and it is heartbreaking to watch. Her facial expressions were crushing that entire ending set of sequences. Then you pan over to Cloud and he’s like, happy and content, because in his mind, Aerith is alive. It’s is absolutely haunting to watch. I think Aerith intentionally projected herself to him so he doesn’t lose his mind. If Cloud loses his mind, it’s game over. She even says that you have to stay you, take care of yourself, etc. As for the Zack stuff, 100% Aerith guided him to Cloud through the white lifestream, which I think he was running through, to help him versus Sephiroth. To see him be okay with dying in the meteor world, knowing he made a choice, helping Cloud and the party, to defy fate, make his own rules and go out on his own terms, which was literally his entire storyline this game, was the best part of his arc to me. But alas, we have not seen the last of Zack. BECAUSE, 100% Aerith saved him from that meteor world, creating that time warp thing just before it hit, to send him somewhere, which honestly might be our timeline. I’m not 100% on that, at first I was hesitant, but that Zack in the church, is 100% functional, self aware, and for all intents and purpose, functionally alive. Now, where is that? Who knows man. The whole point is that Aerith is trying her hardest to save everybody she loves, even if she has to die for it to happen. That’s what makes her such a great character, and a true hero. Anyways, long message, but that’s what I think is going on. I might have missed some stuff, but yeah.

We ALL have permission to cry when it comes to Aerith

My theory: Beginning scene of news where everyone was passed out. The news says a "Fire Tornado", which is weird for me. If it was only the aftermath of the bombing, then no "Weather warfare" should been said. That means it was the future timeline with Zack in it. Since the "Fire Tornado" occured when Meteor was falling in Midgar (The end of OG). We didnt see Sephiroth killing Aerith on the scene she pushed Cloud. Sephiroth immediately appeared beside Cloud after being pushed telling all sorts of story about worlds. And stating "I give you my blessing", which translate, he will give Cloud something he wanted after Merging the worlds. Lastly, Zack scene again in some world questioning if he was dreaming. He was transferred from his destroyed world to another world. Which the church did not have a broken roof. Which means, either he got to Clouds world again or a different world to start over and prevent things from happening a 3rd time. Like Aerith said " Sephiroth is merging the worlds wrong".

Because I wanted to achieve a perfect clearance, yesterday I finally completed the game after a journey of 140 hours. Many people may said，that this game as a "little game hell" or have a "chaotic ending," and so on. Regardless of what others say, this game is definitely my game of the year. I think this game is really amazing. The ending made me want to cry. Especially Alice's "goodbye" line at the end, it's unforgettable. 12/10!

No the timeline split with the rainbow a new timeline is split with the rainbow and Tifa saw the blood and not , its not in clouds head, She's full stop alive somewhere

I wonder if they will keep her death censored. It seems like they censored it, but we still see sephiroth smile as he pulls the sword out of her stomach. Im in two minds on whether or not i actually want to see her being killed like in the original 😢

So he saves her in Main timeline and we switched to a different timeline the ending is a different timeline! Cloud should 100% not have the black materia unless this is a different Cloud?

I’m 50/50 on whether cloud is in denial, or Aerith is actively suppressing his memories to prolong his full breakdown. It could be a little of both, to be real. The only other part I can’t reconcile is why he’s seeing the tear in the sky. That could be totally unrelated though, and maybe that was sephiroth’s “blessing”; cloud being able to see other worlds

Depending on part 3 this ending is either a masterpiece we have yet to understand or it's gonna remain one of the worst ones and there's so much that needs addressing that i kinda doubt they can stick the landing

Cloud can't accept it

One thing I’ve begun to realize is the way both Barrett and Tifa have been acting after Aerith’s death, with Tifa being very avoidant towards Cloud and with Barrett telling Cloud “Being a load that he has to carry” I’m wondering if they’re going with the route that it was Cloud who killed Aerith. Even during the Church scene she tells Cloud whatever you do, don’t blame yourself or something across those lines.

I can’t believe it took me til the end of the game… Sa-rruf Ru-fus 🤦
