Sorry to burst the bubble but this is actually credited in the OST as being composed by Ryo Furukawa (who also did Mythril Golem) and Nobuo Uematsu. There’s actually an oddly few number of tracks credited in Rebirth as composed by Masasi Hamauzu, relative to Remake.

@@CypherSignal I do believe it is more intertwined than credits can actually cover. All of them worked in a team to create the tracks, sometimes more, sometimes less. Hamauzu did the FFXIII OST as the main composer for the first time, and there were certainly some guidance and advice from Nobuo, and of course it’s not credited. Same could be here, because there is also no denial in how similar some of the tracks from Re and Rb sound to FFXIII or even LR:FFXIII (there were different composers on that game) - more eerie ambience, like the train section in Re. On the other hand it is clear that there are no tracks like in FFXIV or XVI, because Masayoshi Soken is not in this team. Plus, keep in mind that, for example, youtube doesn’t even care to mention all of the composers and just slap Uematsu’s name on all of the tracks. I will agree with you, I should have added “FFXIII style track” not to mention the composers

@@KillerDan ah yes, that is a fair assessment. I hadn’t realized that Hamauzu was one of the leads for the music as a whole, and so likely supervised or reworked components and stems of the tracks as they came in from their external partners.

Welp it was definitely hamauzu cause Shimomura wasn't part of this game

the music team for ff7r is the ff13 music team so it’s most likely hamauzu or suzuki but this does sound like a shimomura piece a little bit

@@herobxon9709really!? i feel like regina’s card battle theme and the summon battle theme had to have been shimomura. but i can believe hamauzu composed this, i just feel like there are some pieces in rebirth that sound SO MUCH like shimomura

well if FF13’s team can achieve shimomura level tho, i’m not complaining. always been a fan of hamauzu since 13 except i lowkey wasnt a fan of him in remake (as in not rebirth)

Ryo Furukawa made this song. So far, Hamauzu never does arrangements. He's in charge for most of the new stuff (e.g. Whispers, Zack).

....I mean, it was one of the earlier fights in Rebirth. Of course they're not gonna make it Sephiroth/Arbiter levels of epic. They're just two people that can kind of put up a fight. Hardly something to be OVERwhelmed by.

@@optimaltt6070 So was Reno and even Rude seperately in Remake... Both fights were still far more of a showcase and better choreographed with a distinct structure and feel to each fight than this was. I think the fight needed a clearer gimmick of what it was about.

@@Invertedzero Reno and Rude were practically tutorial bosses even then, though...what, you struggled with those compared to Elena and Rude? Edit: Actually, forget I asked.

@@Invertedzero You encounter Reno and Rude separately in Remake Chapter 8 out of 18, this is like the 2nd boss if you don't count materia guardian in rebirth, what on earth are you talking about those being relatively early as well? You also know how Rude behaves from remake, he even have the same wind weakness. Fight is clearly about knowing what Elena is about and learn how to break up their team moves with your synergy moves, how is that not clear?
