I can't tell the difference if i'm being honest. I only ever played Remake Intergrade (never played the base PS4 version) and the graphics in Intergrade look like the graphics in Rebirth. This is a good thing btw, the graphics in Intergrade were fantastic.
What? Video games are way worse today. Everything is woke and it takes 10 years to make a game that ends up full of glitches and needs several 100gb update patches to make playable.
@@Brianwrightsmannope. Better graphics does not equal better games. Even with these spectacular graphics, the best Final Fantasy game is still the one that was made for the Super Nintendo
I remember playing Final Fantasy 15 way back in 2016 and thinking "If they remake Final Fantasy 7 they'll basically have to recreate the game world on THIS scale. There is basically no way we are getting that." Final Fantasy 15 was a game that was constantly defeated by its ambition to have the scope of a 1990s/2000s RPG, but the fidelity of a modern open world game. But old school RPGs cut corners with their world design in ways games like Spider-Man/Red Dead Redemption do not. Skies of Arcadia can have that huge map because it wasn't trying to be Black Flag where more stuff is seamless. Something is always going to give when you try to serve two masters like this. Then comes FF7 Remake/Rebirth. And when you consider the fact that they split FF7 Remake into three separate games, my old prediction was still technically correct. It could take us 8 years to get through FF7 because not only is this recreation adding a metric ton of new material, fully rendering all this stuff in 3D that was basically presented to gamers interpretively through map screens & pre-rendered drawings in the '90s is a massive undertaking in and of itself. Part of me feels like FF15 walked to FF7R could run. Another part of me says this is the same situation as FF15 because Square Enix can't actually finish their over ambitious games on release, only now they're sticking you with a "to be continued" rather than scrambling to patch the holes with DLC. I'm still mad we never got all of Dawn of the Future.
I absolutely love how you can see everyone in the buggy! Back in the early 2000s when I first played FF7 this something I always wished was possible. I used to draw my own plans for an FF style game and one thing that was very important was that you could see the characters in the vehicles
It really is an amazing game. They basically took everything that worked in Remake and made it better in Rebirth. My hype for Part 3 is very high right now.
Just finished the game last night. It's easily my personal favorite game of all time. It finally took the top spot away from Xenogears for me after 26 years :D
I really enjoyed this game, although the amount of side content can get overwhelming, it's still the best game I've played this year followed by like a dragon infinite wealth
Fortunately the side content is pretty fun and when you activate a tower you only get like 2-4 icons on your map. It's not like Assassin's Creed where you get 12+ new icon on your map. lol
@@FIREDAN075 Side content is great! The only thing imo that I disliked was the towers and life crystal things that were all the same and kind of chorey because they offered nothing new.
Hi Nick930 first off I just want to say I’m a huge fan of your videos. I’ve been watching all of them for a couple years now and I just really loved them. I’m always happy when a new one comes out it’s always an event for me. With that said, I’m so glad you did the final fantasy seven videos. I just started Final Fantasy seven rebirth but I’m also playing dragons dogma two and I don’t know which one to play so I’m just going back-and-forth but maybe it would be cool to see a video like this with the two dragon dogma games. Thanks for the awesome videos. Keep up the good work! PS I don’t know if it’s just mine or there was some problem but I didn’t get any timestamps. From Adrian from Canada
I think each game does things better than the other. For instance I'm loving the detail and proper scale of Rebirth, that said I really don't like that certain areas we could freely visit in the original get closed off completely, namely the Mt Nibel reactor and upper Junon. I don't care if it makes sense story wise to close them off, I want to go back up and poke around and see all the detail the developers put work into.
Being a hardcore OG fan, and having very huge expectations on this project since the beginning, I can say they have surpassed every expectation. This game just felt like a dream come true, in every aspect of it.
Based on how the map in this game has tons of gaps and grey space and what the director has said in recent interviews about the Highwind in Part 3 I fully expect them to really focus on making part 3's world map completely cohesive. Maybe that's a dumb thought considering you would think they would get that technology figured out on the first try, but the way he described part 3 really made it sound like they are going to do that, and honestly I kind of think it's a great idea. Really make the Highwinds sense of complete freedom come alive.
The Highwind, with no corners cut, feels like it would be an insane technical challenge. Building the entire FF7 map to scale and letting you just fly anywhere? At the very least, I'm expecting some FF15 style invisible walls that stop you from getting close to Midgar.
The problem kinda is that Square Enix f'ed the whole implementation. I think it's okay to split in 3 parts but at the end it should be one game. Who needs the Highwind now? We have fast travel which replaced most of travel now.
@@crosis2 Well if you turn all the areas on the map that are still gray after Rebirth (which is a lot. Even in areas we technically 100%'d) into places only the Highwind can reach then you have a lot of game left that requires manual flight to access instead of fast travel. Islands in the ocean etc. I mean my guess is that they are going to just accept a level of abstraction here like the original. Meaning the planet will be relatively small and you will be able to encircle it just like the original. It will feel a little more realistic than the original in some ways i'm sure, but it will ultimately still require a suspension of disbelief. They tried with Midgar to make you believe you were in a massive city the size of what it would be in our world using a variety of techniques, but you kind of have to throw that out when you get into the open world. In reality the Grasslands would be much more massive, they wouldn't be basically empty, there wouldn't be 6 towns or whatever on the whole planet etc. This is afterall still a video game.
I replayed the original just a month ago and honestly quite staggered at how brilliantly it holds up. Still emotional, exciting, delightful, funny, and thirsty 💦
"Chocobos don't actually get all that much screentime" [in the original FFVII] They had even less screentime in VIII and IX, and (if memory serves) were optional in only a couple of areas in X. At least in VII chocobos were essential if you wanted to acquire some of the game's most powerful weapons and materia.
Soundtrack is brilliant but there are a lot of audio mixing issues that make it difficult to hear the dialogue as an example. I’d love it if those audio issues were fixed.
the biggest change i kind of hate is where are all the hidden good loots , all you get sometimes are weapons in purple containers so in general there arent like hidden materia or hidden summon materia in areas like in the original game wich made it unique and that part is inprinted in me as a final fantasy 7 game so i gotta fucking uncover alot of areas just to get dissapointed like damn nothing here -_-
Man I wish some day they will make a FF9 remake. Even the original Final Fantasy creators themselves said it is their favourite game. The Moguri Mod for PC is a great improvement but still far behind a real remake.
I agree, IX needs a remake more than any other PS1-era Final Fantasy. The game was rushed towards the end so certain characters and their storylines (in particular Amarant and Freya) felt inconsequential and underdeveloped. A remake could address those issues. If they keep the chibi, whimsical-fairytale aesthetic, maybe taking inspiration from Kena: Bridge of Spirits, it could be a lot cheaper and easier to remake than FFVII as well.
I believe an FF9 remake was in the Nvidia giga leak, which has been proven to be accurate with a bunch of games on there releasing after the leak. So fingers crossed FF9 remake is happening.
@@Proff_18 I can't see that. Graphical fidelity moved way slower in the last 10 years. We are literally approaching life-like graphics right now. What's the jump after life-like supposed to be?
Honestly i'm not seeing much of a difference. On PS5 HFW runs at a stable 60 FPS and has amazing graphics. On high end PCs HFW just looks slightly more sharper and has a longer draw distance.
I feel like this video is making the game out to be something that has "TOO MUCH TO DO" and at the same time "NOT HAVING ENOUGH". I feel like the environments did a good job brining to life those small towns in a big way. Like it seems like any of the side content that is mostly "optional" is being portrayed as a negative part of the game. I feel like some of the mini games are indeed a little too fleshed out...but overall I feel like its well balanced in a game of this era! If they didnt have those games or if they were just boring and not too creative, a lot of ppl would've been making a fuss about it. Its not like that and a lot of ppl are still making a fuss about it. You cant win in this era of gaming. Queens Blood is absolutely amazing and had just the right amount of content with it. I actually wish it hard more lol!
There is plenty to do in this game, and I would say its 95% fun to do it all. Which is a win in my book. Fully completed this game at about 160 hours which was def worth the money.
10:03 “Not for the better”? At least this time, Cid isn’t coming off as an abusive husband, and it gives a better connection with him and other main characters such as him being the one that helped Aerith’s biological mother and her get somewhere. Whereas in the original he felt kind of forced. These RU-vidrs really need to stop looking at the past through rose-coloured glasses.
Has anyone else noticed a consistent amount of significant similarities to Kingdom Hearts throughout both Remake and Rebirth?? Because I see them everywhere lol. Almost like when guy get a blue car you end up seeing blue cars more often
Yes you are. I think these battles are kind of like a mix of Chrono Trigger, Eternal Sonata and Dragon Knight 3 where they fight for you, but you determine the big moves
I was hoping that I could replay the remake and have the whole game. But after playing Rebirth, I see why they wanted to break it up. I enjoyed rebirth more than remake but once the next one comes out, I may replay them all again. I love how much they are putting into FF7, love this game why I was young, love it even more when I get to relive it. I applaud Square Enix for making a great game 👏
What? Why? They look practically identical aside from increased poly counts for character models. The completely different environments and scant gameplay mechanic changes almost mean the video at most would be like.. 6 min long. Id rather cover other games. This comparison alone took 2 weeks
@@Nick930 There are many who complained that Rebirth looks considerably more blurry than Remake and I just wanted your insight on why that's the case. I'm assuming they might be using a new engine and it isn't polished yet.
@@StreetFamzzNO new engine. They using the same as the one for Remake. The diffrent is that Rebirth is a really big Game. The enviorments are big and that makes to comprimice
You were kind of disingenuous about the Tiny Bronco making it sound like you can only take it between Costa and Junon, but every zone in the game has a port that you can take the Bronco so you can still get close to "taking it around the world".
Im not being disingenious. The bronco is SIGNIFICANTLY limited when compared to before. You can't go through rivers and cut across continents. You're stuck in the Meridian Sea, and that's it. You can't even reach the grasslands anymore or see Midgar.
@@Nick930 A cave leads to a port in the Grasslands. Every region has a port - Corel has two (one being Costa Del Sol and one to reach the desert side).
I like all of the new FF7Rebirth. I bought a ps5 just so i could play. I was never interested in any of the Final Fantasy games till o saw FF7Rebirth gameplay and wanted to play it for myself
Synergy abilities has Chrono Trigger written all over it. My prediction is so good it’s not even a prediction. I guarantee Square Enix is developing the game. Most likely be announced after FF7 completion.
It would be amazing if the Star Wars remakes could receive the same level of care ,attention, and superior craftsmanship as this. I wish that a capable company like Square Enix could bring their exceptional skills to the Battlefront and Knights of the Old Republic series, allowing us to experience truly worthy remakes of these cherished titles, instead of the lazy cash grabs of Aspyre. The work Sqare Enix has done for the Final Fantasy 7 remake prove they are truly worthy and capable of bringing new life into beloved but dated titles.
I havent played the original since it came out in 97, so i had forgot a lot of the story. It was nice though, playing it again ith much better graphics. 9/10 for me.
I like the music from the original better. They did score Rebirth well but the execution is off. Sometimes the music needs to be louder to emphasize more emotion and other times it's way too loud (like when you get the pirate treasure and Red is reading the paper, you can't hear what he's saying because the music is way too loud)!
I wish there was a way to play the remake series wuth turn based combat. I love the original ff7 combat and think it is the perfect gameplay. If i want havk amd slash, ill play Skyrim.
Yer i actually prefer new but love the old to. Remake had a few to many cut scenes in parts where rebirth felt a bit more balanced there and side quests are great especially pirate one and i love condor fort even though everyone hates it. I though dam thats actually good and not as easy as other ones. Wrangling chocbos is to slow though uuugghhh boreing so is the mushroom places moogle thing . But its great game.
The game was missing Ultima Omega and Emerald weapon. I haven’t played the original in so long I think it was on the second disc. In this remake it might be on the third installment.
Yea that seems to be exactly what they go for. This feels like the real disc 1 since it's just going to the towns for the first time and building the party's character arcs. Next game has to tackle all the kaijus and meteor etc
Honestly this game isn’t a remake it’s a sequel the story’s different and in order to know what’s different you gotta play the old one and of course the whisps are basically mentioning events in the old games whenever they show up to keep the timeline correct So I don’t see this game as a remake more of a sequel The story’s not different in the oh they reconned it instead it’s different in the old games are cannon and the new games are cannon and take place in another universe that mentions the old one a lot
I’ve got this feeling in the last game they’re gonna drop some massive plot bomb that just blows everyone’s minds, there’s definitely some form of long term planning here and I wouldn’t be shocked if they don’t even let on fully what’s happening until the last game’s climax.
I just say it's a Re-quel. Or a retelling at least. 90% of the story follows the exact plot points of og but they are expanded upon and developed even further. That's how "remakes" should be imo. Retain what happened with the classic material and repurpose it for modern day.
@@ziontea7045 I mean the fact of changes stuff and acknowledges that this isn’t how it’s supposed to be kinda sets it up as a sequel in a way a re-qual is a good way to describe it
Its amazing that despite being over 20 years older, the original FF7 still feels more like a real world than FF7 Rebirth. FF7 has S O U L. Rebirth is soulless.
I'm only up to gongaga in rebirth but feel like at this point the original game had abit more of a serious tone less of this fun bright quirky feel i know the original had that to but not this much lol still enjoy the combat tho
I finished half of the game and holding off till they release a patch or PS5 PRO version. Game is so blurry that I thought my sights were going bad lol
I'll never forgive them for taking out the ENTIRE rocket town section. I wouldn't agree with but I'd at least understand if they just changed how mean Cid was to Shera but no, They cut the entire thing and the way they changed Cid's entrance to the story means there is no way they will be able to write it as it was in the original. Many of the minigames are awful and the way they changed Shinra manor section also sucks. Other than that, I'm enjoying it for the most part.
They probably were just set on saving rocket town for part 3 but needed Cid’s character for Rebirth so did his intro like that instead. Rocket Town should def be in part 3
I get what you're saying, it's not 100% seamless. But the game is already pushing Unreal Engine 4 as it is. It isn't a Rockstar engine. I think for the Next Game since it's going to be even larger they need in Unreal Engine 5. I can't imagine the underwater section and even mountains to still be in the same engine.
Its absolutely not "completely seamless." Just like the map in tony hawks american wasteland wasnt actually one giant open world. It just loads areas in giant sections with hidden loading transitions that are barely hidden (see the shot i captured of the bronco driving towards junon as a clear example)
Oh it definitely will stay in the same engine. Expect part 3 to also be unreal 4. Game engines are like new cars and the tools you need to work on them. As soon as electric cars became more common place, mechanics needed to relearn basically everything they knew because the systems and methods and tools they used for older cars were not applicable anymore. Same thing for game engines. If they go to unreal 5 they'll have to remake every asset over again from scratch and development will take twice, if not 3 times as long.
Looks the same, what a waste of money. In all honesty FFVII rebirth is without a doubt the single biggest graphical upgrade of any video game in history. To think the original release of FFVII was released 6 years before the invention of ambient occlusion ( 2003 ). I would love it if more studios would be willing to take their classic titles and reimagine them in modern day graphical technology.
