Here's a wonderful song which was already requested a couple of times: Tifa's Theme. Known from both the game, Piano Collections and the movie "Advent Children".
If you are interested, this song has a special meaning for me. In fact, it was the beginning of Final Fantasy music and consequently a reason for me to purchase a (digital) piano.
In Summer 2006, I was not much into Final Fantasy. I then began to play FF8, and as I was fascinated by the game, I found out there was also a new Final Fantasy movie: Advent Children. It was when I watched the film that I heard Tifa's Theme. I don't know when I exactly got the original recording, but I didn't know there existed the so called "Piano Collections" with its sheet music. The song fascinated me, and I began to transcribe it on my own, based on the original recording. I did quite well, and a few weeks later, I discovered the whole Piano Collection albums. I was thrown into a whole new world regarding music. As I played more Final Fantasy pieces, I kind of felt limited on my keyboard soon, the instrument I had learned 11 years. Finally, in November 2006, I got my wonderful piano, and since then there is no day I don't play on it =)
Yeah, everything began with this song. A wonderful one ...
Now let me tell a bit about this performance. I played this time with a bit more mellow piano, which results in a worse audio quality on RU-vid. Looks like RU-vid doesn't like my mellow piano :o However, if you like my performance, you can of course download the high-quality MP3 from my website ( arkton.modcraft.net/ ), so please don't mind the audio in the video.
It could also be that I overdid rubato a bit, hehe, I played very freely this time. But I like it ;-)
So, enjoy this lovely piece. I hope you like my interpretation!

@@mrnarason RU-vid re-encodes both audio and video upon upload. As far as I know, the degree of compression for the audio is tied to the resolution of the video.

To me this is probably still the greatest rendition of Tifa's Theme. All other covers either play too fast and fail to capture the emotions of the piece. Here the sound, the pacing, the notes they are all in harmony. I've been enjoying this piece for years and I really appreciate it!

I've listened to many versions of this online, and the sound of this one beats the rest IMO. Many years later and this song still takes me on the memory train to feels town, along with your Aerith's theme. (read this while the music is playing in the background, lol) i played this at my grandmas funeral. i don't think i ever felt so peaceful ever in my life while playing it in front of everyone. i think of my grandma every time if think of tifa or hear this song. my grandma was like tifa in a way. tifa, to me, resembles my dear grandma. she will always be in my heart.

Combat is kinda meh, but i dont think ive properly utilised it yet. Worth the wait though and i think theyve done it justice

nobuo uematsu and masashi hamauzu honestly defined the FF games. The graphics, storylines, costumes, characters, gameplay were great, no doubt, but FF left the biggest impact for me because of the music.

Music has always been one of the most important parts of games in general to me, but especially RPGs for some reason it feels like it's extra important to draw you into the world, the "feeling" of the world, the atmosphere of each area and sort of guide your emotional compass in how the game wants you to feel at a specific part or area. It's done so well in the FF games for the most part.

This one still has that spark, that chance of hope the future in its melodies, almost seeming to shift between happy and sad throughout the course of the song. The Aerith theme has far less moments of feeling happy and is mainly just a sad song, lol. Like thaloh said above me, it just gets the water works going haha. That's why I think Tifa's theme wins out slightly, at least to my personal tastes.

Normal... Aerith´s theme is just a Celes Opera arrangement... ^^U I love uematsu music but damm it... is really cheap. Not so much as a techno or a pop song but far away of an Hungarian Rhapsody or a Beethoven´s Sonata (for example). Over rated composer. Just look the FF prelude... wth... ¬¬ a scale ascendant and descendant that took him 10 minutes to write. A masterpiece!!!

If you start from scratch, without any experience at the piano, you can learn it in a few month if you're able to work hard. It's not a very technical piece, it's more a challange of music language and understanding.
