Playing this as a kid I'll never forget 28:15 when as you're running through the battlefield & it's str8 up *CHAOS* with magic attacks being thrown all over the place and you can clearly see that seed cut down that Galbadian dude on the motorcycle >>> #Legendary 😎🐐🤯
It was rendering at about a frame per three seconds on my playstation but I hadn't saved in hours so I just rigged the stick to go left and checked on it every so often.
Yo man that is forreal my favorite scene in this game. It gets my blood pumping when your running 🏃♂️ left and see the crazy fights in the background with the dope ass fighting music. I always thought I was the only one.
One of the best things about FF VIII's presentation was how dynamic everything was... Like, in a way later games just couldn't replicate. It really felt like an interactive movie at times.
I like how rational and just Squall is. As the leader, he prioritized the Garden, instead of his girlfriend. Sounds heartless, but professional. Like, in the real world, you cannot just prioritize your personal connection above others, that's not good. But yeah, I always like it more if we can save both
It always bothered me how everyone wanted him to drop everything to help Rinoa. Even when the children were under attack. I get that is to push the romance between then but if I would imagine that the students of a military academy would understand that they can't more stress in their commander and tell him "forgot about your responsibilities and the life of the students, go save this girl that as a crush l"
He was my crush as a kid lol, i always have him in my party and his limit break actually had the highest amount of damage if you know to timing to push start button right after the move set appear. You will only lose 0,1 sec per move with that.
Honestly though, besides the weird interruptions, weren't these seamless switches between cutscene and in-game actions great? They felt super cinematic
I know! These were one of the most compelling features of VII and VIII and I never could understood why they just seemed to go away, even in later Final Fantasies.
@Akin Khoo Well, that makes sense and explains it partially! Although I don't find character models as impactful... i.e. Xenoblade cutscenes don't pack the emotional punch of Xenosaga - or maybe even Gears' animation. It's worth the money - to me at least!
Doing a play through of the remaster, as an adult and having a better understanding of this game compared to when I was like 10, it’s so much better now. Really understand the gravity of the situation and what the battle of these two gardens meant to the possible future had Balamb not succeeded. Classic gaming moment, I remember shitting my pants as a kid seeing the FMV when the soldiers launched into the garden on bikes, it was crazy. We had really never seen anything that “realistic” at the time.
Mate exactly my thoughts, the tension it created was insane, the part where the galbadian soldier attacks you in balamb and you both get thrown out the exit door so high up, have to smash buttons in a specific sequence to win the battle. Amazing days, I pray games go full circle one day and similar masterpieces are created
I had such a crush on Xu as a teen. I imagined she could be the protagonist of her own game, a leader of SeeD fighting behind the scenes not afraid to put Seifer in his place
And y’all gonna ignore that it’s anti garden technique that only work with Balamb since the Galbadia garden is in ruined currently? Man... the scale they planned for this game is just amazing. Sadly my fav’s a fall. I blame SE.
24:39 when Kadowaki says 'Let's bash into them' just after Squall gives his speech and the music switches. The guy pulls the GARDEN controls and there is a cutscene immediately after that goes into a pull out of the from their location in GARDEN. Goosebumps every time.
Saving the hot dogs is the number one priority. Also I like how even though he wasn't in the elevator (Irvine) he still went down with Squall and Quistis when the elevator began going down. 3:46
Not too mention how many times the Gardens slammed into each other haha. However, she did have her feet gripped to the wall at 27:48 so its possible she could have hung on but still her STR should have maxed out anyway lol
This game sat unfinished for several years because my original copy froze every time I made it to this part. I later got a "Greatest Hits" version that didn't freeze and was finally able to complete the game.
Those Galbadian bike guys are brave as hell. The idea of being launched off a flying town thing and hoping that they calculated everything when they fired your rocket propelled bike at the other flying town..my goodness.
@@BL-ju9ns Not only that, but it even seems like she is in a SeeD uniform and he is wearing cadet/student colors.... so she actually took out one of her juniors. How did she ever graduate? ^^
At first, I kinda feels bad that an entire army is attacking basically a school full of kids until i remember that these "Kids" are fulltime Sorcerer's Hunter while a part-time Elite Mercenary organization.
I love this sequence and battle! It is so good, the only thing I feel that it could have been added and would have also been awesome is seeing Zell, Quistis, Irvine and Selphie fighting together with some of the students and SeeD as CGI
That motorbike is the singles most awesome and dumbest scene I've ever seen. Man this game was amazing in terms of opulence, but it was really silly at times. Still love it!
10:00 That musical transition though! Only better version is the PSX version because it doesn't have that shitty compressed version of the soundtrack that's still on the Steam release for some reason.
I know this be 7 year old but I alway's loved this part. Imagine what's going through seifers mind knowing he's attacking the second home he grew up in. Imagine the planning of the galbadian army to accurately use them bikes with jet pods to land on balamb without a loss
Doesn't make a whole lotta sense why they didn't just fly up top and assassinate the pilot, but the student fighting scenes starting 26:35 were the most memorable part of the game.
As much as I love this game, that is something that _did_ irk me a bit. At times when they should have been rushing _(Missile Base mission, Battle of the Gardens)_ , they decide to take their time and _walk_ while precious time goes by. It's like, "Really? WTF were the writers thinking there?"
...Nothing in this is Rinoa's fault though. Zell is the one whom stops them in their tracks, and Squall actually allows him to delay things when he chats with Zell about the ring.
ssjzx even though 8 is my personal favorite, 6 deserves a remake the most. But it'll never happen. It's story, world, and character design is even more ambitious than 7 and 7's remake has to be episodic to cover everything. 6 will be too ridiculous for them to remake but man does it deserve a modern remake.
@@Maxphyte every single final fantasy has a crazy fantastic world with equally ambitious characters and narrative. Final Fantasy is an extremely hard series to beat when it comes to depth of story, characters, lore, and world. There is a reason no game yet has been truly remade, the HD remasters are fantastic, but a 100% remake like FF7 for multiple FF games will take many, many years for them to put forth the effort and polish only Square Enix can. I hope for many FF games to get the same treatment as FF7 but I hope they retain the same atmosphere their originals to expertly crafted and sowed into our memories.
always found it weird how two giant floating forts (the gardens) could be floating around, crashing into each other, leaning left and right, and yet inside it always seemed stable and on the level.
Probably one of my favorite set pieces/battles of any FF game, and this was one of my lesser liked FF games. Seeing the melee in the background is completely badass.
J always thought it would make more sense with more cut scenes showing the characters fighting thru the army or rather leading Garden in the attack on Galbadia
Damn I’m stuck on this mission right now I think I went in SEVERELY UNDER leveled and now I don’t know what to do Selphie is dead and I used up all my Phoenix downs, and apparently I’m missing about 3 GFS that you have lol any tips?
this is the one game in which you WANT to be underleveled, since enemies' levels scale with yours (it'll be around the average level of your current team). About the GF's, there is a chance for you to gain them if you missed them...but it's on the endgame. You'll only have like 1-2% of the game left to play when you get those. This FF isn't about grinding level. It's about junctioning correctly. About making the GFs learn the right skills first. About getting all of the actually good magic spells (and upgrading them so you always have space). If you do it properly, at lv 25-30 you can max STR and HP with Squall. Since those are the best stats for him, going past that level is counter productive and makes the game harder, since you're not going to get any more STR or HP. So if i were you i'd spend a good amount of time shuffling GFs among the characters, experimenting with the junction system and stuff. NOT leveling up.
Guardian Forces. Diablos has power over gravity so it wouldn't be too far fetched to say that she was junctioned to him and was being kept from falling. The same can be said for Squall at the end of disc 1 when he got stabbed, Shiva was junctioned to him and nullified the frost damage.
Congrats btw you had all the cards and kept Ur level around 20 by begining of disc 3.Looks like you played the game properly, how you could have only just learnt card tho at the end there and have all the cards is beyond me.
