Penance is by far THE HARDEST optional boss. Main reason is the hands. Almost every time they move, they can remove a party member from the battle, and you can’t replace them either. You definitely want to play Blitzball first so Wakka can use Attack Reels. You’ll be glad you did. Immolation removes all MP on a party member and adds Armour and Mental Break, so cast Dispel on yourselves to remove these.
@tylermercado1445 Yep and you also have to master attack reels as well. Getting perfect 16 hits is essential. I lost twice to Penance before finally beating it the 3rd time. The reason I failed attack reels too many times. It has been awhile since I posted this but I got perfect almost every time.I think.
Th fact that you have to keep fighting him like 9x is crazy I would summon yojimbo and hopefully get lucky enough for zanmato for instant kill but getting it 9x is virtual impossible
Penance is incredibly irritating. Hardest boss in the game by far. I’ve just started replaying this game again a couple weeks ago, just made it to calm lands, seems like everyone likes to play with wakka on their team. I never have. I hate blitz ball and don’t like to take the time to play it to get his super weapon lol. Auron, tidus and Yuna/rikku do fine for me
Wakka has Attack Reels which yes, you gotta play blitzball for, but getting it makes everything so much easier. It helps in fights like Penance where you need a lot of damage early in the fight, since you gotta eliminate the arms first. I mean, the others do fine, but I feel without Wakka, I'm just shooting myself in the foot. Besides, Blitzball gets way easier the more you do it.
@@kwitseo and the fact half time you might miss one of the sigils, like after defeat Yunalesca, if don't spot the treasure chest, you can't get later when Dark Aeons become a thing. I legit can't get it but got celestial for few others in party.
When you get to phase 2, watch out for Immolation. This drains your party members of ALL their MP and adds Armour Break and Mental Break. The only way to remove those is to cast Dispel on yourselves. If you don’t remove the breaks, you’ll get KOed from the next enemy attack since you’d have 0 defense and 0 resistance. Helps to use Triple Stars in advance to use skills and magic spells for free. NEVER allow the hands to move because most of the time they’ll REMOVE ONE OF YOUR PARTY MEMBERS FROM THE BATTLE.
There is no way in hell this guy is playing the game vanilla. He's got ths same health stats as I do but impossible defense, and he killed Yojimbo far too easy compared to how much hp he actually has. This guy's a hack.
thought exactly the same thing. Myself I had to pay Jojimbo a couple of times to bring down some dark aeons...no way in hell he can do it without life breakers and such
@@elputodwarf he had Def 20 10 and 5 on his armor that’s how he didn’t die. That’s not the optimal strategy which was kinda suspicious at first because most say it’s Auto Haste Auto Protect Auto Potion and Def 20 or Auto Phoenix. And you can ez stat max defense too not die.
Dark Yojimbo only has 1.6 mil and Wakkas has overdrive was taking off about 420,000 each time. Doesn’t seem outlandish to me. Not saying I beat any of them in my play through but his HP is considerably lower than Bahamut with 4 mil and Anima with 8 mil. He just looks like he completely maxed out the sphere grid with everyone 🤷🏻♂️
