It's funny how you first met Issaru at Djose Temple. Yet, in this fight, he never summons Ixion. Because of this, I've always assumed that he failed to obtain the Aeon lol
Hey you're right, I never noticed this. I always assumed it was because he was doing the pilgrimage in a different order (as Yuna starts from Besaid Islands) maybe the Al Bheds got to him before he got his chance for the Aeon?
This is kind of what I had hoped the Dark Aeons could've been, but on steroids, a test of Yuna's true abilities as a Summoner by pitting her Aeons against their twisted counterparts. Instead we got giant HP bags that hit so hard the player's Aeons are generally used as a shield to eat an overdrive for the party instead of actually being these supremely powerful spirits that a Summoner trains so hard just to be able to endure calling upon their power. Like... you could beat Dark Valefor with Valefor and MAYBE Dark Ifrit if you followed Ifrit up with another Aeon but... after that it's an exercise in futility and frustration for the most part. Dark Anima just kills your Aeons outright, more or less, with Oblivion, and you will get Oblivion'd multiple times. And they can't even shield against Penance's ultimate attack, making them literally useless against it. Like... was it really so hard to put in like at least a sixth digit for Aeon HP and a fifth digit for Aeon MP? And have their stats be able to go up to at least double that of the average party member? Can't be an integer overflow for the non-HP/MP stats... 99999 HP and 9999 MP after all. Penance had 13,000,000 (13 million) HP... (also a way for them to self regenerate MP without relying on a fiend's MP pool, even bosses have pathetic MP pools because they don't need MP to cast spells) Sigh.
Valefor isn't the only one capable of defeating her Dark counterpart. There's a video on here with Shiva defeating Dark Shiva. It's just long and tedious due to Dark Shiva regular attacks: acting similar to Quick Hit, had a dispel effect, and also delays (which thankfully. Aeons are immune to). For Dark Ixion, I'm not sure about the 1st fight since he acts exactly like Dark Ifrit, but I'm pretty sure its possible for Ixion to kill his evil counterpart in the second fight where Dark Ixion fights fairer (to an extent) Dark Bahamut has a pattern that he cycles through, after getting hit 5 times, he always counters with Impulse. It may be possible for Bahamut to attack his Dark version 4 times, heal, and then retreat, using the party to aid with the 5th strike and tanking the counter attack For Dark Yojimbo, Yojimbo himself just needs to land Zamato for all the fights xD For the Dark Magus Sisters, they can be fought separately or if you want a semi challenge, Dark Sandy and Dark Mindy together. For Dark Cindy, the Sisters should only be summoned to attack when Dark Cindy's Overdrive gauge is full or near full, since her Camisade attack destroys MP. Sadly, this whole strategy is on the assumption that the Sisters themselves are always attacking or healing and not "Taking a Break." While it's not against the Dark Magus Sisters, there is an awesome video of the Magus Sisters fighting Dark Bahamut Obviously, aside from Dark Yojimbo and the Dark Magus Sisters when fighting them separately, whenever the Dark Aeons Overdrive Gauge is full. Dismiss your Aeon, quickly switch to Rikku, and have her Mix Hyper Mighty G. The party will tank the Overdrive, die, and immediately revive. Then just switch back to Yuna when you can and resummon your Aeon to resume the duel For the MP problems, just have the throw some Hi-Ethers at the Dark Aeons and have your Aeons use either Osmose or Lancet to recover their MP
Dark Aeons and Penance are bosses that I defeated. But, the second after I did, I regretted taking that long long long detour. Those superbosses seemed and were an afterthought that don't have anything to do with the story nor mythology of the game. But mostly, it doesn't have anything to do with the gameplay and battle system they've created. No switching characters with different abilities in the middle of the fight; no choosing a clever customization path for each character's abilities; everybody is the same character now that everything is maxed out. It is all rising everything up, now you can break 9999 damage, but your new limit is 99999, and your new enemies have 1000000 or more hp, so it is the same as doing 9999 to a 100000. And there is no "oh but some people didn't abuse max stats to beat the super bosses"; because that alternative road is way longer and exploitative of the things being used as they weren't supposed to; and they don't work for Penance either. Good strategy and equip placement won't work against a boss whose speed is 255 (or something like it), because you will be dead before you can make an action. The standard way to beat them is abusing the quick attack ability, prepare for the blow and again, and again. (Or Yanmato everything)
@@Toshinegawa it is not about "what can be done", you probably can exploit every little number to build a situation in which this "can" happen; but it wasn't made for being played that way. The game taught us to resolve at the moment. This is not a game were you come into a foe, he beats you, you reload and prepare your team, weapons and armor. This is a game were you can change members and equipment in-battle, so you can make an strategy along the way. I am not saying that superbosses shouldn't be a little different, but they are the opposite of what they should. I love the game, but the extra stuff not so much. And most of the extra stuff requires a guide, not skills, not curiosity, not being clever, not paying attention when talking with npcs. 6 secret places are found by entering coordenates that there is no way to know without a guide, one of those is Omega Ruins, which you need to enter to do most of the other extra stuff (like completing monster arena)
Me: loses on my first try of this fight by losing half my Aeons by the time Isaaru summons Valefor and the rest get destroyed by Bahamut Me on the 2nd try: remembers I can use shield with my aeons, totally obliterates all Issaru’s aeons with only Ixion
Some dialogue or emotion while summoning would have given these summoners some life. They just seem like cardboard cutouts. Look how Yuna summons compared to them.
Tbf In Yuna's summons she at leasts reacts to them being summoned (petting Valefore and land on Ifrit's shoulders) but I see what you mean compared to the others. Heck even the Dark Aeons just "appear" not even a summon for them
Dang this play through is driving me insane. Wasting MP on damage spells instead of saving them for heals (Ixion/Shiva), not using overdrive after using grand summon. Like…why?
Overdrives are slow actions ( aka they make your next action come farther away) sometimes it’s better to take more actions and have the flexibility to heal in the middle. ( for your information the absolute slowest action in the game is ultima fury aka the lulu overdrive with ultima ( it’s so slow it actually lowers her damage output over flare fury then using dual cast with flares when not using overdrives)
i just wanted lulu to cast a doublecast ultima on him and send him to the farplane. Plus, couldn't they send a decent summoner that would summon a dark Anima?
i think it was meant to be such a way where the user could feel "welcomed" into the battle without a tough task yet experience the transitions between the fights but also engage in the reality of the good vs evil but then at the same time let you go from A to B since the area at that moment is kind of what it is, a maze.---also for new users who have never played before, it maybe tough for them!
