Odds are you've seen a few videos of this one already, so this is just another way to go about what is a very simple battle. I saw a video uploaded by a Japanese player featuring a Monk solo'ing this and then tried it myself, doing a few things differently.
It worked out well, despite me making some errors I'll point out in the pinned comment.

I'd best give a run down on what is happening here. Songs, Rolls, Geomancy and Blue Magic are all out; any of those gives the Necronura access to Quenching Hammer which you are not surviving. Instead I opted to open with Shell Crusher to land -25% Defense Down, using Boost with the Ask Sash to get TP before going in. Try do Light Skillchains with Victory Smite to force Chainspell, then go HARD before it wears off. Hundred Fists, Focus and then multi-step Light. Shijin Spiral > Asuran Fists > Howling Fist > Victory Smite > Victory Smite. (You'll notice that I actually messed this up because I was so nervous, still managed to recover and pull the win out though). Penance and Shijin Spiral are essential to keeping the Necronura's TP gain down. It might not have Quenching Hammer but still has five TP moves it can pull from, and it WILL get at least one of them off in this fight. Frog Song inflicts Gravity, Water Bomb inflicts Silence and Attack/Defense Down (counter with Panacea if needed) and Magic Hammer simply takes your MP. Those three are all manageable, what aren't are the other two. Frog Cheer will remove Shell Crusher and give the Necronura a massive DEF Boost and Regain, practically game over if that goes off. Providence also removes Shell Crusher and summons x5 smaller frogs; again - if that goes off it's game over. Overall, getting in a group is still the best way to do this. Heck, even a duo is preferrable and removes more of the danger. It's just neat to see this can be done.

Sensei over here just beasts through this.. Makes me proud to be a Monk. Thank you for this, I needed it lol I was getting my ass kicked by this evil frog. I almost had him on Normal with trusts and I am not yet a master (soloing job points can be tedious been looking for an LS)

I don't get it. Patch what? MNK? There are always fights when some jobs for better than other. You might be not aware but there is JP guy who soloed 90% of VD Ambuscades in past year and most on SCH or RDM. MNK is not the only job that can solo this Frog btw.

oh boy another asura player with too much gear for their own good. please just stick to making guide vids, kthx. While these are interesting, most people are NOT going to benefit from this video.

If you don't have the gear then this video is not for you. If you don't find this entertaining then this video is not for you. I did not see, "Guide video for Nernx Ultima" in the title. Go make your own channel instead of bitching about how others run theirs.

Actually a beginning ambu player can benefit.. watching how he handles this beast on VD can be a show of what one can do on easy or normal. Keeping healers at a distance so they dont get magic hammered for example. Using shell crusher as a def down a new warrior might think shield break or full break would be helpful then instead of trying to blast the enemy down. Using multiple healers to keep solid heals during chainspell to ensure you stay alive. While these may be obvious to some they can beneficial to others.

Amzing run. Have you tried any runs with solo pup yet? Easy and sometimes normal (for me)go pretty smoothly depending on luck. I'd love to see how high you and your love bot could go. Excited to try this one out as well.

@@SplitFinn If you say you play without using all that stuff I believe you. Just out of curiosity, considering you are a experienced and skilled player, do you feel like any capability is being left on the table by not using them? Or are you able to achieve anything without them that you can with them.

@@Rykojames i think he still uses Gearswap, which is the only addon improving your performance really. Other on screen addons are usually just fency bars showing your HP, buffs, gear. It's just quality of life.

@@SageAtoreis I’d argue that those bars showing your recast timers, buff timers, etc. would improve the average players capability. Given that they don’t have to keep track of all that info. But I was curious about Ruaumoko’s opinion (since Im pretty sure he’s college educated, many thousands of hours of experience, and holds himself in a reasonably high state of ego) on whether he thinks he is able to maintain the same level of performance without them as with them. Since most people say they are completely Benign.. Which is absurd cuz if it gives you 0 help/advantage why would you clutter your screen with all that BS? Shame he uses gear swap though. Another cheater.

@@Rykojames Buff timers are now available in game. Recast timers are available to check with command and you can make creative macros to check them. So being able to watch them as bars is really QoL. Also knowing Rua from podcasts, he will not even discuss with person having such strong upfront opinion about people using gearswap like you. I can guess from your last sentence, that you are one of those people, who are 0 or 1 about something and for you there is no gray area. Every addon is a cheat and even person using clock addon is filthy cheater. People like you only ask question to start their purist crusade, not to start any healthy discussion.
