UPDATE: Sorry about the wait! Real-life stuff has unfortunately gotten the better of me for a while, so I wasn't able to upload. Anyway, let's begin!
Ohohohoho! Get ready for the raid! Hello, esteemed viewer, and welcome to AET2.001k. What's that mean? Why, Amateur Extension Theater 2001, of course! Bleh. It's a working title, alright?
Here it comes: Yet ANOTHER extension from a Square Enix/Squaresoft game. Don't worry, don't worry, variety will come soon. How soon? Unknown! That's the beauty of vague words!
Final Fantasy XI, released in Japan in May of 2002, was Square Enix's first foray into the realm of MMOs. Final Fantasy-based ones, anyway. When it was released, it was an instant hit. However, it got old due to Final Fantasy XIV being better quality, and while PC servers are still up (but empty, as one would expect), PS2 and Xbox 360 servers are down for the count.
This track, titled the Sanctuary of Zi'tah from composer Naoshi Mizuta, is a calming, yet moody little tune that I sadly have not been able to find extensions of. So here it is! Originating from the FFXI expansion titled Rise of the Zilart, released in 2003 for NA and JP and for Europe in 2004 (man, Europe was left out on the action even before Fire Emblem 14, huh?) the Sanctuary of Zi'tah is, from what I can tell, from an area of the same name. It featured some mid-level monsters ranging from levels 25-40, and some big baddies ranging up to level 70. Needless to say, this was not the tutorial area.
The slow, careful-yet-carefree sound of the music is the most enticing part; this track blends many ideas and emotions together into one harmonious melody.
Well, I guess that's all for now, folks! Next up may or may not be a Square Enix track from a fairly well-known game, and possibly some Fantasy Life, so stay tuned, and God bless.

I remember escorting a couple lower level LS mates to Zi'tah just to hear the music. Those were the days. Kujata server, RidersOnTheStorm LS. Tomo, Songbird, Motosuwa, Vania, Hellsmasher, Vorkosigan, and everyone else from the shell it's been over 15 years since we last me but wherever you are mates I hope that life has been good to you. - Dratian, MNK

The trees, the rain, your footsteps, the creatures, the always foggy atmosphere and this music... So perfect. My favorite place in all the game. I miss this game with all my heart, not just the game itself, but the time when I was playing it.... This strong Memory is always present in my brain and heart, missing the better days...

There are some FFXI Private servers that are AMAZING to play on, and keep the 2005 feel alive. Check out Nasomi for a solid server with, at the time of writing this, over 700 people currently logged on.

Eden is about as populated as Nasomi. if you want a more true to the core 75 cap server Eden is better. If you want a ton of custom changes that make no sense (in my opinion anyway) then Nasomi is better both servers have their downsides though. i wont go into detail as there are a lot of them.

I remember when I first walked into this zone it was so soothing and relaxing that I literally just chilled there for a solid 2 hours or more. This is definitely my number 1 favorite zone in that whole game because no matter how bad or pissed I was in my life that zones atmosphere just enveloped me with its sound and forest that I would forget I had a bad day. I will forever love this game.

This song has helped me through a lot of depression and suicidal thoughts back when I played XI. To this day the song has helped still. It's a calming song.

When I was a teenager playing FFXI I would often find myself sitting on a fallen tree overlooking the path lost in the melody, it was a safe space from the depression and stress and to this day when things get rough I have this saved to boot up and find that peace and calm the melody brings. I'm glad we're all still here and writing the chapters of a story we almost didn't get to share

My favorite FFXI song for sure. So many greats, but this takes it. This song being so many emotions for me. Besides missing those days of playing this game. I wish I could go back. Life was good.

every now and then the music from this astounding game enters my mind, and i have to look up some of my favorite tracks. listening to them always transports me back to those days i no-lifed this game. some of the most fun ive had gaming even though this game was such a grind. just something that can never be replicated

I remember trio'ing shinigami weapon as nin/rng, my friend itude as drg/whm, and rotech as war/nin...and i sat listening to this song for an hour doing homework until the window was open. one of the best and most memorable experience's for me. /fenrir

/Epic nostalgia. Miss the game so much, will be forever in my heart and in my brain, i had a dream about it few days ago and i quit in 2014, i was Thunderjulot and Hotin on Asura server, a top SAM, BLM and NIN, one of the first player to have upgraded amanomurakumo GK relic to lvl99 and i led some of the best HNM LS there for years, VaeVictis, Zealot and Losnoobs as far as i recall, we killed everything, hello and farewell my friends of this epic adventure i played for 10 years if you read me~ PS: it burned my life for 10 years and more tho haha...

@@obakemano I mean i miss the fun times and epic adventures with people but i played the game so much in fact lol around 20.000-30.000 hours during 10 years, enough and i wouldnt start a MMO again for this reason.

I would really love a 10 hour loop of this like they've got for corridors of time and that Chrono cross one, but for now I just put it in a playlist by itself on repeat. I play this in one tab and some rain and thunder or blizzard ambience in another. Or one with crickets and frogs etc. There is a "nap time in zi'tah ASMR" one but it sucks. The "ASMR" part (the wind etc) is way too loud. Also ASMR isn't a thing.

Look up FFXI Horizon server! The best private server out there. It's 75 "era+" 4000+ people on daily. I promise you won't regret it.

Most of the hardheaded "75 era" crap refuses to make any quality of life adjustments to make it friendlier, because the yare trying to recapture memories they had 16 years ago. Also, I have YET to see a PS that has any story content past ToAU, they are always buggy as fuck

@@dragumkirisute1998 no, TIME ruined it. We arent teens and young adults anymore. We have careers and families, cant be jacking around at fafnir. And no, retail is actually more fun now, or it was in 2020 when I quit, because it's more solo friendly, you arent handed shit, aeonics are harder than any REM old world. Those things are just time and gil sinks. UC nms are a good challenge, odyssey, sortie, etc. What you want is those days where groups had to compete for pops, and waste days camping argus. Fuck that.

@@TheGhostofMrArthursyou play a MMO to PLAY with people, not solo the entire experience. Trusts make the game easy mode. I've said this countless times, but there's no point arguing with people who clearly never played 75 cap. (Not saying that you didn't play 75 cap btw.)
