Black mage is a slow burn, it takes a some time to get the full kit but it is pretty much the most intensive and high hitting job at end game, aar however is only scratching the surface of the kit
BLM was my first max-level Job (which was 80 at the time). It's very good at scratching the big DPS-numbers itch when played right. Me, I choose to play a different color of DPS mage now because it's Ver-y much more flashy and mobile, can literally save the party's bacon when stuff goes seriously south, and has the best LB3, Verflashbang/Verblind. [Vermillion Scourge] If you ever try it out, just remember: Displacement is of the Seventh Devil.
thaumaturge was so slow and boring i almost dropped the game entirely, completely swapped mains and came back when i had a better understanding of the game and had a better time
They're all slow before 50, and don't really fully realize themselves until 60. BLM definitely suffers the most from being finicky and boring before 50, and at level 60 you're running out of hotbar space with all the button bloat you've got to integrate into your very busy rotation.
black mage is ... weird to level up, atleast it got a bit better with Endwalker, but.. well the rotation changes a lot over levels - when i bought the game i immediately swapped to red mage
as someone who did all the expacs and main story as black mage youll definitely have a lot more fun with it when you get into stormblood/shadowbringers. its boring now because SE had to shrink the kit on things such as enochian so that the class could fit in 3 bars
