I really love how they use the music to establish specific fights/encounters as something, like, otherworldly or unnatural. Typhon drags you into another dimension, and Titan exceeds the natural boundaries of his Eikon's powers, and the soundtrack's genre shifts to stuff that's just completely alien to the world the game normally exists in. And then when we return to 'normalcy', there's a classical version of the theme to finish things off with.
To make the boss feel unnaural To the world, they have their themes be unfitting for a medieval setting and then when theres a triumph they bring it back to reel us in. Its so raw.
at 1:32 - The change from minor key to heroic major key with bombastic horns and orchestral hits genuinely gave me chills and goosebumps. It started playing when Ifrit gathered the Aether and exploded out of Titan's grip. HOOOLLY SHIIIIT!
The lyrics there go hard too: Fury and rage Now the gods below, shall know thy name Suffer this fate From the crumbling walls no one can escape! Sky black with rain Still against its weight his shoulders strain Rise, crownless king For a reckoning soon shall begin
Agree 100%. The whole encounter already had me sitting up from my normal lounged position but, like you said, when the minor key changes to major it completely changes the narrative - completely changes the emotion - of the fight. As I sat, controller in hand, dodging Titan's fists and retaliating with my own, a single tear rolled down my cheek.
Official Lyrics: Come one, claim the throne Heart of stone! An anvil from the heavens cast Oh, rumbling hard and tumbling fast Round granite neck pours out threefold A darkness begot in ages old And with its fall the earth she was rent Asunder torn, the land, yes, she wept Now in its wake yawned lightless abyss Yon gaping maw his circumfix A sickle forged of adamant To sever man from his hooded past No more a slave to sorrow's gloom In onychine eyes burn chthonic doom Vile choler coursing quick through his veins His spirit adust does he bow to the pain His madness swallowed 'neath ochre sands Of pride long bereaved, forsaken he stands Fury and rage Now the gods below, shall know thy name Suffer this fate From the crumbling walls no one can escape! Sky black with rain Still against its weight his shoulders strain Rise, crownless king For a reckoning soon shall begin Soul flayed, spirit flown Heart of stone! Come one, claim the throne Heart of stone! Sins foul, unatoned Heart of stone! Eyes down, vengeance sown Heart of stone!
Literally what every ff14 players tells themself after every patch lol. Soken ALWAYS do better, especially when you think it's not possible anymore. xD
Bro that fact that it went from huge freakin monster to a free fall fight literally shock the hell out of me in this fight OMGG bro. I waited 2 years to see this fight and I got my chance last night LOVE IT THIS IS GOTY OR SPIDERMAN 2 TAKING IT IDC JUST ONE OF THOSE TWO MUST WIN
Im really happy that titans fight took as long as it did because think about it: earth is the element of defense and stamina. Why would it take the same time as say, garuda, to defeat him? And the message was extremely clear too since everyone universally agrees its "why the fuck wont you die". Its perfect
Bro after watching all the trailers, I expected the climatic end against Titan Lost will be the end of it, then my guy popped out of no where with this banger of a theme solidified this to be one of the best boss fights I have ever played
I love how each battle with the Eikon would have been a Final Boss in any other RPG/JRPG but this fight is just a normal end chapter Boss Battle, the scales keep growing higher! XD
My wife and i have been playing through 16 together and she played through this whole boss fight; i was hooting and hollering during thjs last phase because the track is just SO GOOD.
One of my favorite tracks in the entire game. The way that fight just builds and builds and ends with these triumphant version of the Titan theme we have heard since the beginning of the game. I will never forget my first time fighting Titan.
@@shevo101 They do that with several enemies (I think Garuda does it three times). However you always know it's not the final stage until they play the choir version of the victory theme. That's the true signal that you've beaten the enemy for good.
1:27 - Incredible "Ora Ora Ora / Muda Muda Muda" fight moment! I also love how the music naturally shifts in tone, to something more heroic at 1:32. 😍 I was not expecting this at all after the insane fight against "Titan Lost", and surely I'm not the only one lol.
This game is awesome…. It’s like it unlocked a childhood memory of mine with massive kaiju battles with high octane insane fights. Vanquish, Asura’s Wrath, Metal Gear Revengeance, etc. This is just amazing.
What an amazing way to introduce a surprise third stage 😂 the first 4 bars basically say “THIS ISN’T OVER” a free fall battle??? the whole fight was wild af
Did this fight last night and i just laughed with this goofy grin on my face after nearly breaking my thumb for the final blow. Cant wait to do Ifrit vs Odin...
When some of this music started on Titan Lost I lost my mind, but then to my surprise the exact best parts of this music went full blast during this fight. How, Soken...it should be impossible that a genius of this insane level is in a human.
By far the best Boss theme in the game. Like, all the music in this game is outstanding trough and trough. But as i was playing this boss fight and these starts playing and shit is just going insane i literally stood up it got so epic. Going back to normal boss battles after this game will be weird.
After I finished this fight,I just sat for 5 minutes happy and hyped af, then I procceded to replay it 5 times more😂it's been a long time since that I didn't feel this good with a game🔥
Im sure everyone's reaction was the same when we got here "finally! I won.......ah fuck he's still alive?!?! 😱" This is one of the best fights in the entire game took me roughly 24 mins to take him down all 3 phases
I respect a lot the ff14 influence on the titan lost phase music, but this theme here is fire, i wish we got somekind of even more epic version of this during that fight to rival with the ifrit vs phoenix theme from the beginning
Spoilers for the Hugo arc: I have to say that during this part of the game, I kind of felt sorry for the guy. A little. And then he started kicking women, and most of what little sympathy I had instantly vaporized, lol. It still is rather tragic though, and pitiable. He destroyed his whole life and everything he had, all over someone who presumably never even cared about him. And without control over Titan, he didn't even know what he was fighting for in the end.
kupka really was just a god-tier hater. absolutely nuclear malding. coped and seethed so hard he pretty much ground himself into dust. rip in piss big man
