Away (Phoenix Vs. Ifrit) is definitely the best song to start an opening battle

The build up to this actual version is amazing cause the whole fight you have a less confident and less pronounced version playing then you hit that moment and it just erupts and it's absolute peak (trying not to spoil anything but know it is the hype)

I was indifferent to this song when it was first released until I had to accept the truth. Then I was so HYPED.

"It's time to accept the Truth" This is one of those songs that's even better when you hear it with the context of the scene it's in.

Funnily enough, Soken originally wrote this song on short notice for marketing, more than anything. He didn't quite think it was up there, being rather one-sided, but was pushed to let it get implemented anyway, and it grew on him from there, especially coupled with the context of the game itself.

The FF16 soundtrack is so good. Takes most of the FF14 music by comparison and takes everything to 11! Soken goes crazy on this OST

A masterpiece of a game is always accompanied by a God tier OST, bravo Soken.

This is a type of theme that plays when the fight hits second phase. However, the one going into second phase is not the boss, it's you.

This song with context in the game is one out of many hype moments in the game

I love the XVI soundtrack, it's like I come from XIV which isn't like underfunded by any means but you can tell with the amount of content that they put out that they have to cut back on a lot of things. And then you put Soken on a mainline game where he has all the money and freedom to do whatever he wants and he puts out this bombastic orchestral soundtrack that just blows you away.

For me the sound reminds me the most of Stormblood-era Final Fantasy XIV music, especially the Worm's Tail. Theres other songs that have a similar sound to them as well. But I definitely hear the XV sound as well

I'm so glad that you were able to listen to some XVI music, this game is amazing, I've played through 50% of the main content for the game and it has already become one of my favorite FF games. I hope you'll be able to play the game at some point, especially knowing that some folks from Platinum Games contributed to the gameplay and that the main combat director for DMC5 designed the combat gameplay for the game! The soundtrack is awesome, so different and fresh from XIV and yet you can still recognize Soken's style Anyway, this game is a gem, its story and themes are quite mature and I'm glad that this series still exists nowadays \o/ Also thank you for mentioning the fact that what makes Final Fantasy "Final Fantasy" is that each game is new and different, sometimes I feel like people just want the same game over and over Edit : I saw some comments mentioning the demo, there's definitely that if you want to know if you'd like to play it, it shows you the first two hours from the game and the save progress can be transfered to the full game.

As Final Fantasy tradition goes, it has a really good soundtrack. The thing is, because you want to play the game without eating any heavy spoilers, I have two recommendations which are based on the demo of the game, which is not only free, but covers up the first minutes of the game without hinting anything else. With that said, for you and for those who want to also recommend some ost for this game, here are two. The Battle Theme for reference shenanigans, and Away.

Definitely has a “Torn from the Heavens”emphasis in this particular song

The game is phenomenal when it delivers and this track is exactly what you hear / experience on the screen. Pure hype. It may not be the typical FF (in respect to what is normally considered a JRPG) but it’s an amazing title and one of my favourite FF’s to date. (I’m an OG since 1) such an amazing narrative carried by a surreal OST. Hopefully one day you experience it for yourself. If anything, do yourself a favour and just play the free demo.. I’m willing to bet that will be enough to rope you in!

Can't wait for you to hear battle theme "Sixteen Bells" and boss themes "Ascension", "Away", "Catacecaumene" & "The Riddle." Those are some of the best battle theme bangers from the game!

Thank you! I’m so glad you also think it sounds like Apocalypsis Noctis. That was my first thought when I first heard this song. Which is absolutely not a bad thing, considering Apocalypsis Noctis is one of my favorite pieces from XV

I love how every boss character has their own leitmotif with a subdued version during dialogue scenes and a battle version for the big fight scenes.

Away and Ascension are gonna be big requests once the soundtrack is released, both are pretty amazing.

To Sail Forbidden Seas is honestly one of the best tracks in the game

Hi there Uncle Jesse, It´s been quite some time, but i have been seeing some your videos and you are clearing growing it up. So Kudos to you. Boy Oh Boy, Final Fantasy XVI OST..... And this particular track.... The very first game moment it happens It is soooo gooood my friend. And that is just one of many different and epic moments this game has, not just in emotional storytelling, character development and one of the most amazing soundtracks acompaning those moments, it is just pure bliss. The game is not perfect, by my God, it is pretty much a Masterpiece and it has been some time since a Mainline Final Fantasy game to have this kind of Hype, but it also delivers and then some. Not matter how new or old fans of this fantastic franchise are, everyone should give this one a try. Great analysis on the choir section by the way. Bahamut fight ost will blown his mind away

Without spoiling of course, this track is very important to the game. I was expecting a bombastic soundtrack full of motif and stuff in a game Soken could compose for, that was just a contained single player experience. I *LOVE* FFXIV and its music, but I am SO happy he got to POP THE HELL OFF for this game, man. I hope you enjoy, hope you listen to more, or even end up playing! This game became my favorite Final Fantasy, finally dethroning FFX. When the NG+ trophy said "Fantasy, Finally", it really is. This game made me feel "Finally, its Fantasy again!". TIME TO JAM

Regardless of my thoughts on the game itself, I'm always thankful for a new FF to listen to for the rest of my life. I still need to listen to the whole soundtrack outside of the game to see which songs stick with me, sometimes I'll find a lot more songs I like by themselves, and others I'll find that the circumstances in the game carried the song.

With Soken being Soken, you should expect non orchestral music in XVI to come out of nowhere.

The soundtrack to sixteen is absolutely riddled with Easter egg notes n' melodies spanning across the entire game series

It's definitely a battle theme. It only plays in one part of the game, but that part is so pivotal as a character moment for Clive. One of the most iconic moments in gaming history. I hope you get to experience it!

You will be amazed if you hear most of FF16 ost list especially the bahamut ost.

If you're looking for fluctuation in the songs paste, etc, "sail the forbidden seas" (A 16 song) is really good to.

I will say that if you react to songs that have a lot of hype and relevancy online you can potentially get a lot more views. When you were reacting to ff14 content it was at its peak of popularity. I just know this stuff is your livelihood but you are free to do whatever you want that makes you happy. Love your reactions!

I was a tad nervous about Soken going from and MMO to mainline FF, but pretty quickly it's obvious that's a silly notion. It still has his nack for shaking sounds up, but still has the grandeur expected from FF proper.

Soken is big on using motifs, and I noticed some other songs on the soundtrack that had parts reminding me of various other FF songs as well. I don’t know if it was actually the intention, but if he was invoking the style of other FF songs to help it feel more weaved into final fantasy as a whole I think that’d be interesting

This sounds extremely similar to Final Fantasy Anthology cover by Diego Mitre called Dominance and other from that Album that cover different ff tracks. I agree about your comparison to Apocaliptis Noctis because of the tempo and aggressive vocals . As for the ff16 ost id be honest, i expected more, i don't wanna say its not good far from it but bar few songs its very hard to find some memorable tracks that can hold on by their own.Unfortunately many of them feel like they are layers of motifs and are repeated with some slight variations just to fill out the huge game and its areas. I like Soken especially his ff14 stuff but in my opinion this isn't on that level unfortunately .

I personally think the eikon battle theme is the best battle theme in the game and so far histoire or into the mire are my favorite dungeon tracks to play at the hideaway.

I'm kind of surprised that you felt strongly that it didn't sound like FFXIV. To me this sounds so typically Soken I almost felt like going, ok you like choir, we get it lol. That's not to say it isn't a great song though, and it was definitely played at a great part too.

For me, the first notes reminded me of Blinded by Light (FFXIII) right away 🤔. Haven't heard the FFXV music you speak of though. Unfortunately, FF hasn't hyped me since a good while now, won't stop me from enjoying the OSTs though 👀.

Personally I never felt Apocalypsis Noctis, I heard Stand Your Ground the battle theme of XV and Veiled In Black another battle theme from XV

Biggest thing about Soken is that he is a composer who loves his leimotifs in the context of the story. Melodies you hear will appear elsewhere to fit different scenes. As a result, when hearing it in game when it finally happens just hits differently in the best way possible

Don't be afraid to speak your mind if something isn't clicking. I for one found 16's soundtrack to be kinda lacking with only 2 or 3 songs that really stood out.

Gotta agree, it sounds SOOOO Much like 15, and I ain't complaining because I love that soundtrack so much. There is a vast variety in 16 that I absolutely ADORE (I'd say don't listen to them until they're officially released bc they have video with them LMAO), but Find the Flame is by far (imo) the most 15-esc. Even just the start of it 💀💀

Funny you mention hearing inspiration from the FFXV soundtrack. Soken has said before release that he’s taken inspirations and in some cases bits and pieces of music from across the series to incorporate into the FFXVI soundtrack. So yeah hearing pieces of FFXV is probably intentional.
