Final Fantasy XVI - In-Depth Review (Spoilers) 

When I get a bizkit notification I watch immediately!

By the time I finished the whole game, I did generally like it, but I agree that there were a number of things the game could have done better. Story execution was really good up until Waloed, I think, and most of the characters (especially Cid) left a strong impression. It has some of my favorite moments in FF ever (like the Limit Break scene), but other parts like Jill's constant sidelining annoyed me. I really thought the developers would have had wanted to use all their characters to their greatest effect, but the ones that were done well were really done well. Combat-wise, I actually really enjoyed it inbetween VIIR and Rebirth, but unfortunately, I made the mistake of platinum-ing the game, which maxxed out the Eikon abilities so I could have 6 slots of just the super moves. Going into the game with everything completed before the DLC trivialized most of the fights, and I recognized I didn't have nearly as much strategy as my first playthrough. I wouldn't say it ruined the game, and it wasn't what the game would count as S-rank combat, but it did get results and is what I believe most casual players who grinded out FF mode would do. It was fun, but not the replayable kind of fun. Overall, I wouldn't put 16 in my top 5 FFs, but I can definitely respect what was attempted here.

Not a final fantasy fan. But i really enjoyed this game. Got the platinum trophy. Would definitely replay it again.

I see a lot of people make fun of the bit where you unlock limit break and I genuinely wonder what it's like living life with an inability to enjoy things

In regard to cid saying who knows who ultima is, someone brought up a great point that he was the lord commander for barnabas. Since barnabas is a religious lunatic it makes sense that he brought up ultima to cid and that’s what drove cid away from waloed

Since you've mentioned Stranger of Paradise a decent amount during these reviews, are we getting a deeper review or analysis on that game?

Aye! I enjoyed the game back to back ff games with great soundtracks. I do wish there was elemental damage, more enemies staggered, I really enjoyed how fast & smoove the roll out of this game was especially after ff15

I find it really funny that you're complaining about the book at the end of 16 making the ending kinda ambiguous and praising the ending of 15 for being more definitive when 15 had an actual real life fucking book that undid the ending of the game

I will say one of the most annoying things was that the very last thing I did before final boss on my first playthrough was the Jill side quest where she rejoined the party. I had done evry hunt and quest beforehand so there literally wasn't anything left to do. I really wanted to have at least one Eikon fight where Ifrit and Shiva fought together and was really disappointed I didn't get it.

Another top notch analysis, Biz! Your scripts are always well spoken, and I agree with so much of what you had to say. Despite it's shortcomings I still had a great time with FF16, and the big hype moments are bound to stay with me forever.

The part where FF7 Rebirth has a good 60 fps mode is not true at all, its a blurred mess probably even worse than the uneven 60fps mode of 16 IMO.

As time goes on and the hype wears off, I like this game less and less It was a really fun rollercoaster ride when it was new but i dont feel an urge to replay it

I'm really glad to see that you're still the only person with an actually decent take on this game. Yeah it sure isn't fucking perfect and it's not going to be in my top five games of the series but it is so much better than some of the other mainline games and overall is just a pretty solid game especially with the DLC

I don't think the open ended ending is bad at all. In FFVII you don't actually know if Cloud and Tifa survive meteors impract. Clouds realisation of what the promised land is (the after life) and that he thinks he can meet Aerith there, with Tifa agreeing that they'll see her together can very well be seen as the two accepting death together? The only hint is the post credit scene were Red is revealed to be alive centuries later, hints that atleast some of the gang who at that point was on the highwind survived, but still no answer regarding Cloud and Tifa. That they actually survived was only seen in subsequent stories, the short novels leading up to the movie sequal Advent Children, almost a decade later. For me, the combat system and the weird open world map designs were "meh", while the conceptual story was fantastic, about how magic is inherently killing you and that Ultima is an alien that created humanity. I agree that they fumbled Jill's growth. Like the pain and horror she had suffered, used as a weapon by powerful forces from such a young age sent some Aerith and Tifa-esque elements to her back story, but she sadly never evolved past it. The set up was great, but they didn't make her grow beyond it. They obviously just wanted a love interest for Clive. Or she may very well have started out as Clives actual sister in early concepts and then just changed to a "royal hostage" that grew up along side Clive and Joshua, when they decided to make her his lover.

i think the limit break scene is so corny and just doesnt make any sense dramatically because we already know he “killed” joshua and he already started to come to terms with it in the previous side quest section

No sorry bizkit I respectfully strongly disagree with your comments in the conclusion section of the video. This is not a final fantasy game, this is a homculus of God of war 4 and devil may cry with a final fantasy coat of paint. Persona 5, yakzua 7, dragon quest 11, metaphor refantazio, baldurs gate 3 are truer to final fantasy than 16. Heck, baldurs gate 3, a turn based game, sweeped the game awards and even won game of the year. Baldur's gate 3 also outsold 16. Regardless, i love your content bro you deserve more views.
