yeah! they're also slightly different in other languages too. false idol's opening cutscene and a voice during her florescence also have hexcodes, as well as an additional one depending on who dies first in the hansel/gretel fight. for english, it's give and give/take and take. in german, it's "vague memories. once - we were one." "humans search for beings like them and you strike around yourselves / complete each other" in japanese it's "a distant memory. we were once one." "people seek people and you all are competing against each other / complimenting each other" i've never done french, since i don't know any french players myself, but the hexcodes for the false idol cutscene are "Aberration" in english, "Groteskerie" (!) in german, and "igyō (grotesque)" in japanese. it basically confirms the watchers are somehow connected to the machines or the aliens the hexcode voice that speaks during her florescence when she casts trains and the hiragana/english text mix reads "Voice" in every language

That's neat, I suspected there might be a different sentence depending on who dies first in the Hansel & Gretel fight, but I hadn't confirmed it so far. Thanks for those additions

@@passivepaints1143 my suspicion is that the watchers subverted the machine intelligence which lead to them killing off the aliens. Just strikes me as odd that a race smart enough to master interstellar travel would use a weapon they couldn't fully control unless an outside force did something to alter it.

It's similar to their dialog in the second playthrough of Nier. You can hear the wishes and dialogue of all the shades. Thus fighting them hurts.. because once you understand their stories you become torn.

@@Lorkanthal The Watchers definitely sunk their claws into the war. Aside from the Logic Virus being the mechanical version of Red-Eye disease, there's also Eve's watcher tattoo, the Terminals' similarities to One and Manah, and Adam being born by the machines forming a makeshift Seed of Destruction. Not to mention the implications of Emil's clones being possessed as well on account of them starting to sing, rant, and trying to blow up the world in their boss battle. And while it hasn't been confirmed anywhere as far as I know, it feels like Eve and Simone had watered down versions of the Power of Song, and we know that the first boss in the Puppet's Bunker definitely had it.

@@sleepysera It was pretty obvious they weren't really going to kill Nanamo to me, and Papalymo was a bummer only because I hated Y'da more, but eh. I don't remember making Tataru cry, guess it was so traumatic I erased it from my memory.

The boss's name is also a reference to the flower as well. Sucks that the flower is not a glam. I would love to make my character into zero. Or get a Mikhail minion....he was best boy🥺

@@atoli16 ok i havent done...ANY of these raids (still just a babby ninja) but... The implication of this raid is TERRIFYING. Think about it. Eorzea being slowly corroded by the Flower of Antiquity...

Same. I've only seen Automata (after the first ffxiv raid, I'll admit; went lore digging as well), so all of the Drakenguard references went over my head.

When I first went to play Automata, my friend, who wanted me to play it, forced me to go through the entirety of the Nierverse, including Drakengard 1 and 3 and extensive summaries of non-game stuff that is also canon and happened between the games. At the time, I kind of hated her for it, because it seemed ridiculous to go through that much preparation for a game I hadn't even played yet. When this raid got released, I was SO thankful that she forced me to sit through all of that because OMG it felt SO good to get all the references xD Finally, the slog I went through paid off 😂

it's definitely one of those crossovers that if you know the source material yes, it will hit muuuuch harder. But from what i've seen (played Drakengard 3 and Automata, gonna play Replicant on release), even not knowing its still fun. But oh yeah the...not even "references" but the blatant "enjoy being thrown here, fuck-o's"...knowing them definitely jumps the enjoyment factor.

The entire raid wiped to that mechanic the first time I ran this, haha.

See, I think that was the exact trick to it...we're all used to hiding with things between us and the boss. We never expected to be between the boss and the wall instead. I mean, we've only seen that...one other time? In Delebrum?
