As a recent Purdue grad, your guys' analysis for Aidan O'Connell was spot on, lol. He was so fun to watch and route for, he makes some special throws and even shows some shiftiness in the pocket. He'll then follow up one of the best throws you've ever seen with the worst individual quarterback play you've ever seen in your life. I could see him having a Brock Purdy-esque run at some point, where he goes to the right system and can show off his incredible anticipation and throws, or he could bounce around the league because no one really fully trusts him to be a stable backup. Bryce Young is the clear #1 QB and I'm glad you guys still have him there. He's got Burrow's acumen with Mahomes' playmaking, at Drew Brees' size. Whatever that looks like in the NFL, he's going to be special. If there's a QB outside of Young I'd want to bet on in this class, it's Anthony Richardson. My CJ Stroud comp is actually Matt Stafford, I think they play the position similarly and Stroud's outlook in the NFL is Stafford. Great arm talent that can take the top off any defense, great rhythm thrower, struggles under pressure, but can go on a hot run of play (aka the Michigan and Georgia games) and win you a Super Bowl. Richardson, on the other hand, is a guy who seems on the cusp of putting it altogether. Elite traits and, like you said, an underrated ability to read the field and play traditional QB. Josh Allen at Wyoming is the best college comp, but I think Jalen Hurts is the hope for his NFL career. You're hoping that you can build an offense around his rushing threat while he develops as a passer. And as good as Hurts is, Richardson has the tools to be even better. I'm out on Will Levis. He reminds me way too much of guys like Mitchell Trubisky and Carson Wentz. He doesn't create big plays, his ball placement on throws is questionable, and while he's got a good ceiling, I don't think it's as high as he gets credit for. I'd take Hendon Hooker over Levis, I think Hooker has good tools and while he has struggled, I think his issues are more easily correctable.

STROUD being 21 is encouraging! When Burrow was 22 he had a pedestrian season. Turned 23 and became a star. I believe Stroud under Frank Reich will develop into a Pro Bowl QB

Please keep doing these position rankings. Ever since I heard the way too early running back episode I’ve been absolutely addicted. As a draft enthusiast, it’s a great secondary research tool and I love the breakdown on guys that I can turn around and do further research on. No one else does anything close to this at this level of quality. Mock drafts are fun but you guys have something special with this, keep on it!

Hooker will be 27 years old before he is your starting QB.....the knee injury is a real terrible thing. As an NFL team I dont think you can draft such an old QB where 1 contract and hes already 33 or so. Thats really going to turn off teams. THAT BEING SAID, I can totally see him being a day 2 guy where the risk isnt such a huge concern and the money isnt so high.

Rodgers started his first game around the same age. so did Staubach, brandon weeden was drafted 1st round after he was 27, not a big deal. Truly, truly not in reality. At the end of the day, what was the eval? thats all that matters.... for hooker specially is people bring up the age to say he has no upside. but ur being overly critical if the floor is a starter in the league. it's a different league btw, no where, you take the QB with a 2 or 3rd round grade, in the 1st for that extra year on his rookie deal. teams are absolutely operating under this premise. its for all those reasons ur undervaluing him.
@spoogtastic
@spoogtastic Год назад
@@tvtda1 it's not age of 1st start, Rodgers had 3 years of being in the NFL, staubach was one of the greatest ever. It's the factor of being so old with 0 experience and his talent is All time good. So it's just a big red flag for me personally.

I’d love to hear a deep dive on Clayton Tune. Felt like he showed great coachability with his improvement over the last 3/4 years. He has enough arm strength and accuracy to throw the deep ball as well as fit the tight windows, plus he poses solid dual threat ability with his size and 4.6 speed. His decision making is what I think faults him as he can hold the ball for too long, force throws that aren’t there, and at times tries to do too much scrambling (sometimes this leads to a fumble, sometimes he pulls a rabbit out of the hat and gets the first down). Interested to hear y’all’s thoughts, especially on his ceiling as a mid-late round pick after a few years of development with pro coaching.

taking every pro day into consideration now, my takeaway's are Bryce lived up to the hype, Bryce was Bryce, he will always be Bryce, i think that makes him a floor prospect, though crazy high floor, like his peaks are top 5 top 10 as a floor when he's on. CJ is peaking at the right time, and, he's just scratching the surface of what he could be and how good he is, but he's Been the hottest prospect in this draft class. Will Levis is right there with both of them, his lows are lower, his highs are higher. At the end of the day though, if i'm the panthers.. i'm sorry lol idk how to pass on AR, if i say he can run over you like Cam Newton, he can make you miss like Lamar Jackson, He can break tackles and extend like D-wat, and he has Josh Allen level arm strength but also probably more arm talent than Josh Allen. ik he's only had 13 starts, but idk how to pass this up. smh he literally has everything you dream of and you just need to teach and coach him and i'm the panthers and have hired a staff of former NFL QB's specifically do THAT with a roster that can win now where He's gotta get more accurate sure, but i don't need to make him throw it 30+ times a game, i can let him manage the game with RPO's and play action, and ask my defense to keep us in games as i baby feed him this system. You gotta take the chance.

Guys, first off, I hope you feel the love, because you and the comments section made my reply a highlighted one last week and I’m very appreciative of that, so thank you very much for the pods this week. I have a question this time, but it really needs time to answer it. In 2021, the 49ers traded three 1st round picks and a 3rd to the Dolphins for 3rd overall, and to take Trey Lance. My question is would they have been better off waiting, and this obviously doesn’t account for whatever happens with Brock Purdy, and trading up this year to draft Anthony Richardson? I’m really intrigued to hear what you and the public would think about if Anthony Richardson was to become an SF 49er. Cheers everyone! Also shoutout the producers as always!

You guys ranked both Stroud and Young in tier 1, but seemed firm that Young was better. I was curious if either of you felt like the gap was big enough that if the betting odds are correct and the Panthers take Stroud, that it would be an objective mistake, or at least a talent misevaluation. Are they close enough that there is at least an argument for stylistic preference? As someone rooting for the Panthers to succeed, almost all draft coverage I see prefers Young, but everyone seems to agree they’re taking Stroud, and it kind of worries me, especially given the prohibitive cost for that opportunity.

After watching Malik Cunningham play at Louisville his whole career, as a fan, I just can’t see him as a NFL QB. He has good athleticism, but I just felt he had no idea what he was looking at when it came to the passing game, even in an offense that really tried to hide his passing defencies in a very run heavy offense. I’m not even sure if he was a one read and run guy, I think he is closer to a zero read and run guy. He provided some awesome moments but just isn’t an NFL QB
@ir0nMonKie

Clayton Tune is the best QB in this draft. Screen shot for posterity. I see Young and Stroud similar to the year Vick and Brees came out, and I see them having similar careers. Young’s game doesn’t translate to the NFL, and he will have an inconsistent career with some good seasons (Vick). Stroud is the accurate QB who doesn’t wow you, but comes to the NFL and just gets it done consistently and is just a winner (Brees) Clayton Tune has everything and the right mentality to continue to get better. If he gets the right landing spot, he will be a top 10 QB. Those who know, know. 😅😂

Richardson is interesting but can't throw with anticipation. Would take him over Young. Could be a top 5 player in NFL, sure. Levis can't play with pressure, 3rd rounder. Stroud is the best but doesn't have a high ceiling. You're hoping he can be Joe Burrow/Tom Brady but he just isn't going to be that good a processor. You're getting a Derek Carr level player you'll eventually give up on.

@jasonwarner6323 Год назад
If I am rating these qbs as nfl prospects Bryce is not number 1. he is great at everything except the one thing that he can not control. How ever size really really matters. Not only does he have the disadvantage of being short for a qb. He is also very slender for an nfl player. People act like it does not matter because the qb is protected in todays game. It matters and it matters a ton. Especially at the qb position. Bryce will not escape hit even half as often in the nfl as he did in college. And then he seems to have an aversion to stepping up in the pocket. That makes it even more likely he will get hurt. In the 90's he may have made it 2 seasons as a starter. In todays game he might make it 5. Now lets get to something that isn't talked about with Bryce. In the nfl you have to be able to make a lot of throws either off of your back foot or stand in there and take a big time shot. Bryce does not have the arm to make a lot of the 10y+ down field throws off of his back foot. so he will be taking a lot of shots. Ask Tua, Manziel, Baker all smaller guys who got hammered a lot. Ask guys like Lamar, Fields, Cam, Allen, Dak, Murry, and Wilson. All guys who are a lot thicker guys who still got injured on hits. Now if I am ranking Qb skills. Sure Bryce is number 1. I would never take a qb that high who you have to worry so much about getting hurt. all the qbing skills in the world does no good when you get injured on a blind side crushing hit by oh say Garrett. And can we all quit acting like Bryce is 204? anyone with a brain knows why he didn't throw at the combine and then refused to be weighed at his pro day when he did throw.
