A9 hand is brutal, it is a really close spot, I think the way it was played, if you are calling the turn bet then you should be calling the river knowing he is more than likely putting you all in regardless, only other decision point in the hand is preflop, could make a case for folding pre given ICM....the more crazy hand I believe was the k4 hand, no need to increase the variance in that situation! at the final table it’s more important to not lose chips or risk your tournament life than to gain more chips, because of the pay jumps basically, so u end up playing very nitty

A9 is a call all day... If it's a cooler so be it,but his range there is capped and even more so when considering his ICM advantage and his ability to put you in ICM hell... He's not shoving hoping to fold any aces there... I respect massively how you chipped it back up into the lead anyway, and WP, major respect... Probably you're one of the best large field MTT streamers out there...
I suggest you watch bencb masterclass on icm. Chip leader on ft can abuse the table any amount. A capped range eliminates the absolute nuts in that scenario. He's betting 3 streets with absolute trash there and Patrick levelled himself into a fold by putting villain on the absolute top of his range by folding that. He only loses to AK and the pocket pairs that made houses. The combos of which are fractionally tiny compared to his bluffs. This is basic stuff guys... Patrick made a bad fold right there and he knows it. He over thought it, convinced himself that he was up against the nuts. (Obviously he loses all the Ax that makes boats too thus increasing the number of hands he loses to, still a small number versus bluffs he can have there)

He bluffed this once but he also takes the same line with the nuts as well, being capped would imply he can never have the nuts.
Villain started the hand with 96bb ... He knows that he can afford the lose and all in Vs Patrick and still be 2nd in chips after the hand. Assuming he's playing icm properly, which is a better assumption than thinking he's top of his nut range is a better assumption. And again so no one thinks I'm hating, it was a horrible spot, I really like Patrick's videos, and I think his play afterwards to chip into a lead was amazing and probably in Patrick's mind vindicated his play and decision making process.
