FYI, because no one seems to talk about it anymore -- when you talk about throttle response and the throttle mapping, what the Cobb and other tuners' maps do is give you a 1:1 throttle ratio. Meaning, 10% pedal position gives you 10% throttle, 75% pedal position gives you 75% throttle, etc.The stock map does not do that; it's much more conservative and conducive to fuel economy. That's why you have to "relearn" the throttling. It'll be exactly the same with Stratified. Just make sure you have them disable Shift Assist, because that will also negatively affect (in my opinion) smooth shift engagements.
I just installed the Cobb ots stage 1 tune and I love the power but I'm finding it much harder to get a smooth engagement going into 1st gear. I guess I just need to get use to it again. Will be doing all stage 3 parts over the weekend though so I'm excited for that.
TORQUE & TECH Ford Performance Exhaust, COBB RMM, K&N filter, Eibach lowering springs, Eibach front and rear sway bars, Turbo Smart BOV. As well as a few cosmetic changes.
I switched from cobb stage 1 to Stratified tune in my fiesta ST. I love stratified's tune wayyyy better than cobb. I'm not a fan of the crackle pop though sounds like loud gunfire with my cobb catback. If you were opting for it do the $15 option to get one with and w/o the crackle .
+tsunami105 I got my tune from Stratified. I'll post a video in the coming weeks. I don't know why I didn't get that option. The crackles and pops sound fine with my muffler delete and stock DP, but I'll probably end up changing my tune soon to have both. Are you on a stock Down Pipe?
TechNation yeah, I am on a stick down pipe. The only thing exhaust wise that's been modified is the Cobb cat back. You could email your tuner back to add the crackle and pop for an additional $15.
tsunami105 Sorry, my last comment was confusing. I have the crackles and pops on mine. I was saying I should have opted to get a tune with and one without.
With stock (Fiesta ST at least), when up shifting it kind of rev matches for you (not downshifting though). Do you know if it still does that with the cobb port?
I just saw something on Mountoune site I think, giving an option if you wanted to keep something that sounded like that feature, maybe it was something else, or maybe it's only available programmed in by Mountoune, they seemed to have some other options as well you can select to be programmed.
E30 from stratified performs like 91 stage 3! And OTS tune @900rpms? I'm pretty sure it's still 750. Ask Stratified to bump it up to 850. You'll feel the real difference! Keep up the good work! Hope to see if you make the wing riser vid I suggested 😁
+Jose Carrasco The idle was definitely at 900. I was running v4.00 of that tune so that could possibly be why. And I'm still looking into it. Still debating if I like the wing raised and how high it should be.
What gas were you using when your car was shuttering? You'd think idling higher would consume more gas though? Maybe the small change doesn't make that much difference though. I think (in Fiesta ST at least) in first and 2nd gear in stock form, they tuned it to be safer and give less wheel spin, so the accessport removes that. It would be nice if Ford included a sport mode or something so you don't have to get an expensive access-port, but i like how you get more info from the access-port.
+Ben 93 octane. It was the same gas before and after but after the tune it just felt much better. But yeah the info is one of the things I really love about the Accessport
TechNation sorry about the delayed response bro. My son takes my phone and I miss notifications. I'm stage 2. A strong stage 2. My BF works at a Ford dealership in Dallas and he's done a lot of research on the ST's and RS. I BOOST "ALL THE WAY UP" to 6,500 bro. Mine is a beast. Not scared to run any type of MK7's or R's in my ST.
TechNation thanks bro. It's fun being in a conversation when I hear or see somebody say the ST's fall flat on their face after 6,000 rpm. Shiiiiiiiiiitttttttt not mine Chico 😎
Hey. Have a look at this link. It has a ton of info regarding the tune. It is info based on an older version, but it's still useful. The boost depends on what octane gas you have. Keep in mind there is only so much max boost these vehicles will safely achieve with the stock turbo on. static.cobbtuning.com/cobbtuningweb/site/maps/Ford/All%20Maps/Focus%20ST/Map%20Notes/FOCUS_ST_BASE_13.pdf
I know this is two years old, BUT on a stock tune, you only hit about 15-17 pounds of boost at WOT. With the stage 1-3 ots tunes through Cobb, you hit a max boost of 23 pounds.
i installed an accessport on my foST 2017 and i haven’t noticed any power gains. i’m running Stage 1 93 oct and it’s been 2 weeks since i installed it.
Still same issue. I just got a 17 st focus. And was planning on getting one. Have a intercooler coming. A cat back is on it. Just on the fence about this.
+hemsies yeah it's weird how Ford has so many different features in cars in some parts of the world and not in others. Probably mostly due to ridiculous US restrictions and such.
+Kevin Gonzalez It's not recommend. Ford still has a way to see that the ecu has been tampered with and will more than likely use that excuse if something were to happen to the vehicle. Even if you uninstall the tune before taking it in. Use with caution.
FORD TECH: he is right and i'm surprised, most people don't know this. we can look at last calibration time and miles since re calibration which would tell me it was tuned if your in for warranty engine knock ..:)
+Loco Spyder Question. I'll probably be taking mine in, in November for the hatchback recall to re collaborate the BCM. I was thinking about asking them to perform the newer TSBs for the car. Like TSB 16-0025 or whatever. Should I even bother? Would that just out me?
It's a TSB for people having issues with idle. Either the vehicle stumbles and drops revs or it stalls out. If you google that TSB number then you'll find more info on it. Just to update you, I did not take it in for the recall nor this TSB.
+totallyrad77 500 dollars is steep, but it opens the door up for you to get tunes from other tuners if Cobb's OTS tune is too tame. You can always go SCT X4 also. It's cheaper.
$500 is not steep as livernoise is just as much. I personally am very picky with tuners. I like the fact you can get tunes from other companies with Cobb but it's also dangerous. Lots of guys tune ecoboost and make crazy power but it's usually not the safest. For example I have seen tune only f150 ecos that have better times than mine with meth and lots of upgrades. Then after looking at the data logs I see many tuners masking knock sensors allowing much more boost and timing. Not safe and seems to be those very tuners that have lost engines then trying to blame the broken piston on a ford problem. Trying to point to the Air fuel ratio as being correct but the ecoboost had lots more going on than that. One of the best tuners in my town for GM won't touch ecoboost.
