Final Voyage Of The Mischief The Great Loop Video Series ICW Log 25 Documentary ICW Log 25 Mischief Florida To Maryland Great Loop Series. Prairie 29 Trawler. The Great Loop. Great Loop Documentary Series by Matt & Connie Mattson. The Mischief is now rotting down in a boatyard S. of Annapolis Maryland. A sad end for such a fine, trustworthy, and tough old boat. Maybe it is you that can save her. Final Voyage Of The Mischief - Connie and I are thankful for all the friends we've made and mariners we've helped live their dreams via these videos. This really is the reality of cruising. Fare well.

Matt and Connie... Thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful series. I have spent the last three nights watching every one them. I couldn't wait to get through with the workday in anticipation of getting home to watch another 6 or 7 logs of your Great Adventure before going to bed. You two really seem to have a fantastic marriage and partnership. I have a great wife, but I am envious of how well you two work together. Thank You again and Godspeed to BOTH of you. Steve in TN

That was incredible. I felt like I was there with ya all the way. I learned so much and most of all I became friends with 2 people that I've never met. Hopefully that will change someday and I can shake your hand Matt and give Connie a hug. If you ever get the urge to see Punxsutawney PA, we got a guest room waiting for ya. Thanks for taking us along on this trip, it was great. God bless both of you and as always, stay sharp.

Good news on the Mischief. It looked like all hope was lost, the next owner(s) gutted and abandoned it - but finally, a couple of months ago some very nice people from Kentucky with the means to do so bought it and will refurbish it back to new. So a happy ending all around. Glad you enjoyed the series!

I've always felt a sense of loss upon selling the boats of my life. The attachment that we form with them is much deeper than with land vehicles. I was right there with you as Connie read the final log entry. What wonderful journeys Mischief has carried you on. She will sail along a parallel course with your hearts. Thanks for letting us aboard for the final trip. Grace and Peace...

I too have been a long time fan of your videos. I've learned so much and enjoyed watching your channels over the years. The treasure hunting , the guitar playing, flying the plane, there is just so much you all know and have done. I've never commented before but this series was just so great! On top of that, you two are something special as far as people go. I never even knew there was an intra coastal waterway boats could take from Florida to the Chesapeake Bay. I sure hope our government realizes this is a national treasure not to mention something that encompasses our national security. Thanks for sharing and Godspeed.

Heath from Alabama... I've enjoyed the journey. I have to say we had a scare on 4-28-14 in Alabama with the storm I believe you filmed in 22. It hit 1 1/2 away and God protected all that was here. I can't thank Him enough. I'm glad also that your trip ended well. We can only live day by day and give God the Thanks He deserves for allowing us life in those days. I pray you both have many more and that my Heavenly Father will allow me to see them with you. If you ever get bored and feel like faceting any stones I may would get with you and see what we could work out. Wish you both the best, Heath from Alabama

Dear Connie and Matt; Many, many thanks for sharing this journey with us all. These videos will be enjoyed on many a winter night, as well as any other. I hope and pray that your journey together will be a happy and healthy one in your bright future. Parting with a boat is a sorrowful moment and this too shall pass. I've watched your adventures from the little C-Dory 22 to the Prairie 29. I hope and pray also that I can one day make this journey from up here on Long Island, south to Florida and then who knows where. Running that trip in something small and seaworthy is just the ticket. May God bless you both and keep you well.

Great to see the passion that only true boaters understand. Adventures on the water far exceed those on land. It really is like a different world. Been a live a board boater for over 15 years and have no desires or plans of changing that anytime soon. I've known old captains that died on their boats. They would not of wanted any other way. I find solace when under way. It takes you away for the stress of the madness sometimes found on land. So I understand your tears at the end. Absolutely.

Thanks Joseph! The height is fine (you'll just have to stop for more openings), draft is what can keep you from doing things like we did. 12' height and you'll sail under most bridges without a call (and this certainly makes things smoother since some only open at certain times). Very best of luck in your plans!

Is the Erie Canal the only option to travel the Great Loop using the Hudson? I ask because we are looking at a used trawler whose height would exceed 15.5 feet. Can you use Lake Champlain and the St. Lawrence and bypass the Erie Canal altogether? Thanks!
@mattmattsongold
@mattmattsongold 7 лет назад
MrMCB - questions like this really need to be answered up to date and I can't do that anymore - you should get on the "list" email of Great Loop "Loopers": www.trawlersandtrawlering.com/greatloop/greatlooplist.html (great-loop@lists.trawlering.com) you'll see a link to the right - Great Loop List, etc., ask the admin to put you on the list - they will do so, and then ask your question at that email and it will be answered with current info. So many things change on that route in a year you really have to be on top of it and I no longer am.

They made two boats that apply: a 29' (32' overall) which is what we had: 29' 12' Beam, 16' bridge, 2'9" draft - usual power is 65 or 85 (ours was re-powered with 52 hp JHE Yanmar (a good marriage). Plenty of room - biggest (by far) shower & facilities of any of the small trawlers. Made by Prairie BoatWorks and later Atlantic (Atlantic 30 - same boat). The other they made was the Prairie 36 - huge accommodations - twin. Good luck finding one, they're an unusual boat in they were made of a plastic material and pretty much indestructible so I have no doubt they'll be out there as long as people want to cruise them.

@@mattmattsongold tmThanks for sharing. Yeah I bet they would be. That 29' Trawler looks like it would be fun to poke around with. Certainly has enough room for two. It's all I would need.

We have moved to Lake Eufaula (Walter George Reservoir), 800+ miles of nooks to explore. Still have our Dauntless which we know and love: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-olLuK-oPE1A.html -- a different kind of boating to be sure, but it's all good! Hope you and yours are doing well.

So happy to hear from you guys. Glad you and Connie are still adventuring around. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your videos and just following ya'll along. I am 48 and recovering from a recent Kidney transplant. My bucket list is the great loop. Setting myself up for a 29 Coastal Cruiser. If I find yours, I will stop in and see ya on it. Thanks for all the memories, look foward to following you guys on the Boston Whaler.

Is she for sale

Yes, after delivering the Mischief to Maryland, the new owners never did recover from their health problems and sold it to a person with big plans that didn't materialize. Last I heard it is in a yard up north for sale. Good luck finding it - trawlerforum.com has a lively Prairie sub forum and they probably will know where she is now. Again - good luck - a great mini ship.
