The Polestar 2 is a highly impressive electric family car with solid range - so naturally, EVERY video review has fixated on comparing it to a certain other ubiquitous EV, made by a bloke called Elon. We challenged Jack to do an entire review without mentioning T***a. Here's how it went.

That was probably the most entertaining review I have seen! You're brilliant mate! Funny, intelligent, affable etc etc.. Great idea....You should get your own show on Amazon and go around the world doing crazy stuff with a couple of your mates...or has that been done? I am going to buy an electric car and the Polestar 2 is top of my list, especially after watching your review! Thanks and cheers!

Why has this only got 9k views?! The presenter is brilliant, extremely informative, witty the whole video is well shot it's even the right length. I don't get it. You make carwow look car...meh. Anyway hopefully it'll pick up audience wise because this is bloody great

Great review. Host is both funny and informative. Very enjoying to listen to. The Polestar looks like a fine automobile as well. It is great to have a nice selection of EVs with Polestar 2, ID.3, ID.4, Mustang, Lucid Air, Taycan, etc. Not just that one brand that does make a lot of wonderful cars.

@Jack Scarlett I'd prefer an Estate car. Wagons are horse-drawn rickety things from the 1800's and earlier. Estate cars are for driving around your estate. ;-)

Finally, a review that sensibly judges the car on what it is. To compare it to the "T" word is comparing an apple to an orange. Sure they are both fruits, but different. For me this car is all about the understated design, in true Volvo style, with the emphasis always on safety and comfort. Albeit this one shifts too! If I had the money, this would be the one I would want. Excellent, humourous review.

We need to look at all these great options not as comparison to Tesla but as comparison to fuel cars. Polestars should be getting people who normally by a gas/petrol Volvo/Audi/BMW/Merc etc into a great first EV! Until ICE cars are gone EVs are competing with ICE cars first. So glad you said that in the end of the video and that’s exactly what we need. More EV of all types.

Hate to be the guy who repeats the previous people in the comments section , but what a great review and what nice way of going about doing it. This guy clearly knows how to connect with the viewers and this is reflected in the comments too. He also made a valid point, more than one actually. I so tired of always comparing a new EV to TESLA, and if not good as, it is not worth buying. The point is we all are different, so why should all our cars be the same? Anyway, great review and I hope I would see many.

You can adjust the suspension without taking wheels off, bit fiddly at the back, but doable. Takes about 10-15 mins in total.

THANK YOU for doing what a lot of us have been wanting. As you say, almost every Polestar 2 review out there mentions Mr Musk's brand and compares this to it. Like you, i'm sick of it. For me, the Polestar looks MUCh better than the Tesla. Better interior design and of course build quality is light years in front of T***a. I don't need a dedicated super charge network (home to the office is 7 miles) so i'll primarily be charged at home. Range doesn't concern me for that reason either! To me, the Polestar is refined, sophisticated, understated and quite rightly, turns heads! Great review!

Your phone, computer, TV, etc. are also Chinese made or contain Chinese components. Recalls can always happen with any manufacturer and any new model. Even with older models. Just recently Kona recalled 77,000 vehicles electrek.co/2020/10/12/hyundai-recall-77000-kona-electric-cars-risk-battery-fire-lg-chem/ and Tesla is currently recalling Model X and Y. Besides if you order a Polestar now it's been solved already. I'm simply glad they're fixing things ASAP.

@@rikh8796 right the point's are moot, yet relevant if a tesla is involved. Hypocrisy at it's finest, let me guess you are a liberal? Ice vehicle's btw catch on fire in the us on average every 9 minutes or so, per nhsta statistics. Which doesn't even include commercial use vehicle's or those numbers would be even higher. As for that recall supposedly lg chem is blaming that one on cells they partnered with sk Innovation to produce during a ramp up phase in production. Who they are also suing for stealing ip. That suit is ongoing and has lead to issues with battery supply for Ford and Audi.

@@4literv6 wow someone got triggered. I was merely pointing out that recalls are not that uncommon and Chinese products are everywhere. Kona and Tesla were convenient recent examples, if VW had sprung to mind I would've mentioned them instead. Good to know about the stealing IP suit.

I think you made a very good point that Polestar isn't looking to "Steal sales from Tesla." For me, I was interested in getting an electric car but was dragging my feet because I didn't like the options available. Call it shallow or petty, but I just don't like the way any other EV looks. But the first time I sat in a Polestar, I was sold. It LOOKS like a normal car, and is simply fun to drive. It really IS the car that converted me from Gas to Electric,

I love this car! Plus, I've been saying for years (not that you'd know 🤣) that car companies really need to let tech companies do the infotainment systems. Many are getting better, but it has taken a long time to get to the quality that some are finally achieving. Still, they aren't as good now as what any Android company or Apple could do 5 years ago. They all need to outsource the infotainment to Samsung, LG, Apple, etc. Polestar gets it, even if Volvo has a great infotainment system of their own, which they do. (XC40 driver here of almost 3 years now.)

This is my 1st choice if I was to buy an EV in that price range. I already tested two times model 3 (long range and performance), second time to make myself like it and buy. And I just didn't have that "click moment". The fact that it only has one tablet in the center, and let's be honest just average material quality was the biggest issue. Now, Polestar 2 corrects that perfectly. The only thing is if the charging network can be close to what Tesla has (they have the best.Period).

@@birdyashiro1226 Love it - not as much as the V8 I came out of for it, but responsiveness makes it bearable lol. Steep learning curve regarding battery driving and range, but pretty much on top of that now. Driven 3000 miles and only had to top up at public chargers twice. Rest of the time, home charging, albeit slow, has been enough. Constantly getting envious looks and comments and summary justice of impertinent boy racers trying to cut you up is satisfying 😉

This car is great probably the best EV now on the market. But still want two more things. 1st, use BYD's new battery tech, and 2nd, a hatchback version.

I would choose this over the ..... except it doesn't have access to the ...... charging network. Which makes all the difference. It even makes up for the melted face look and suspect quality of the .....

Using the Polestar 2 configurator I can get long range Polestar 2 which will only cost me £700 more a year in costs than my current V60 T5. It's due replacing this year, so if I can get decent access to a charger I'm in.

Yes, I agree, adjustable suspension needs to be adjustable from within the cabin. I would not buy the performance version. But the others? Oh my, yes!

Camera. All led lights do this due to the framerate of the video and the refresh rate of the lights.

Drove it for an hour and loved it. I can't believe how much legroom the front seats have. One of the only cars I didn't have to put my seat all the way back to be comfortable. People claim the suspension is too stiff and makes for a bumpy ride, but I understand that's how you get the proper handling. Went through the canyons at high speeds and it took it like a champ

No “T” word? brilliant! Personal pet peeve as well. Thank you! In Cali Volvos are very cool as long as they’re very old. This vehicle actually doesn’t deserve the comparison others make. You cannot intelligently compare a ground up EV to a converted ICE job. Good go at but really should be discussed. This does excite me to see the nest try. hell of a start! (for 2015?) Android comment is hilarious. Don’t know how that will stand the test of time? Android is becoming a term that combines & describes all vehicles that are not T.... just like its the term that combines & describes all phone that are not Apple. Can hit them on a lot but you can not compare software. Probably never in our lifetimes

The precept is stunning imo. And will definetly give the model s a good go of it. And that vehicle will be the first from the ground up bev by polestar/geely. Who btw did the tech for the upcoming lotus evija hypercar.

I was looking at a Model 3 and the Polestar, but you what the biggest difference is, not battery life, speed, features etc , no, its build quality, the Polestar feels as well built as my Audi S4 B9, the Tesla is built like a 2005 Ford Mondeo, ok, but not very reassuring, build quality is a big thing for me, so Polestar it is(and it looks waaaay better!), and if Polestar had the charging network of Tesla then I think Tesla would have a very hard time......great review, you are a funny chap(mazda in a microwave lol), very entertaining.

It’s an amazing car. Try driving high speed through Germany with head wind at 5 degrees. The other brand has no issues.

I just test drove the Polestar 2. It is rather nice and the dual motor is very powerful. I think it is perfect for the European market. I found it way too small like the size of a 2 Series BMW. Way smaller than my Mercedes C300. The backseat felt very cramped and too vertical without the ability to recline. Unfortunately, I will have to pass. If the car were $10k less, I would buy it.

@@sandersson2813 agree about the 3&y. The s however still looks very sleek imo almost a decade later. Plus the gen2 roadster, semi and cybertruck are all good looking and or unique designs in their own right. Can't wait to see the Mic model 2 25k compact car design here soon.

Nice looking car, but unfortunately all 4,586 sold so far globally have had to be recalled due to faulty battery inverters. I think if I was spending £50,000 on a new car it would have to be perfect from day 1 (and no I don't want a T... never mind.)😁

That comment is funny. If they don't recall their cars then that would be a much worse problem. I have had many JLR vehicles which should have been recalled in UK but they didn't. Only do that in the states because they are worried about class actions. And the rr is over 100k sterling.
