Whenever people find the action button bad, I don't understand that. I mean, if you miss the Mute Switch, you can still mute your iPhone with it. And everyone else can still put any action on it. Thus, the action button is definitely better because you can simply do more with it, but you don't have to.
It does not tell you at glance is it mute or not. I have to turn the display on to check that and it is really annoying. The mute switch must be back in next iPhone. PLEASE PEOPLE WRITE TO APPLE TO BRING BACK THE MUTE SWITCH !
It’s a extra button even though it could do those things they should of put what the action button could do inside the dynamic island my opinion give the Dynamic Island more things to do

Okay, just fyi, I love the Arc browser. It’s not sus at all. It’s actually a super cool company trying to do some innovative things in the browser space.
Living abroad where the language is neither my first nor my second language, I set my action button to Google Translate. Translation from voice to text, voice to voice, and photo to text at the press of the Action Button is great. Haven’t changed it since.
I set an automation up with a focus mode so that it turns my lights off and on when I’m home (so convenient having a light switch with me at all times) but opens my camera when I’m out and about. Been loving it.
It is now actually. They added something called “Call arc” and it too can be assigned the same way to the action button. And while it can’t set timers and do stuff for you it will still do the searching just now in a more conversational manner.
I made a shortcut for my calender, so that I can use it to add events, and specifically for work shift, where it knows what time to give my shift depending on the weekday the shift is. That has personally been a game changer, and I use my calendar so much more!
i use my action button for work. when i press it it opens a menu with several different options, such as send an email to blank or blank, or go to the wifi test app (i work in telecoms) or when im at home it automatically changes to my smart home controls
Flashlight for me but it is super nice to be able to customize situationally. I set it to camera when I’m traveling or at an event, and translate when I’m working with bilingual people. Although the translate could use some work (or maybe it’s just user error). Overall the action button is phenomenal imho
I love the design of Arc, but not having a homepage is a turn off. Your favorites/archives should be the first thing you see when opening the app. Open Arc, open settings, open archives, VS open Safari
I have the best shortcut for that button, and it’s lowering the volume and turning off noise canceling and with another press, turning on noise canceling and putting the volume back up. You’re welcome.
Camera, that's my use once my new iPhone 15 pro comes today, I'm coming from a long history and preference for Android, and currently coming from Pixel 6 pro. Still find it abhorent there is no fast, hardware method to launch the camera on IOS, so this, in addition to the cheaper backglass replacements, plus usb c and the customisability trend, made this 15 pro quite appetizing.
personally I would rather silent mode be something that happens based on my focus modes. I really only want silent mode when I’m trying to sleep or I’m at work or a movie.
Bro iOS 18 is around the corner and apropos corners the corner button on the Lock Screen will be customisable wich deletes every thinkable purpose for that button
Features like flashlight or Translate are pretty useful, too! You can even use a camera with it. But now Arc? Dude! That's insane! Arc will replace Siri.
nice, it is very similar to google ai and most definently took inspiration from circle to search but it looks super cool. i am biased to samsung though.
Is there any legitimate reason for them preventing people from using the Arc mobile version unless they log into the desktop version of the app? The desktop version was only exclusively available for Macs until recently. Now they’ve added support for Windows 11, but not Windows 10. As of last month, over seventy percent of Windows users are still using Windows 10.
There are 2 Arc browsers for iOS. One of them is Arc Companion, which isn’t in itself a browser, it’s just a companion for the desktop app. It requires you to sign in so that it can talk with the desktop version of Arc and sync data accordingly. The other, Arc Search, is actually the full Arc browser for iOS and it doesn’t require you to sign in unless you want to use the syncing features.

Now there is Call Arc which also can be set to the action button through shortcuts and it’s basically just an AI assistant chat bot minus the home automation. But hopefully iOS 18 will introduce a useable Siri and make this less revenant, even though I love Arc and have it on all my devices that support it. I really want Siri to stop being garbage…
I never understood how people can’t find a use for the action button. I have set to my flashlight, it’s very useful and never had an issues with accidental triggers. I think people are just making stuff up.
