I hope that doesn't break your window. You can get a piece of pipe insulation or a pool noodle, slice it open and use it as a cushion between the glass and wood. Heck, you could cushion both sides like that.

A hint, idea. Your shelf you made. I would recommend using a peice of weatherstripping, foam on the side against the window. Help prevent scraped and cracking window....

The dash self is a great Idea ... but I suggest you leave a decent gap between the dash shelf and your windshield, you may end up breaking the glass if the shelf is pressed up against the glass. It's a little hard to tell if there's a gap in the video.

Love your down to earth uploads Emma. It's funny I started watching your channel because you bought the Honda monkey which showed up in my feeds. Normally I watch motorcycle channels. Anyhoo, I think you need to invest in a small shop vac to pick up all your wood particles after doing wood work. It'll make your post cleanup so much easier. I think vacuums are awesome!

Use wire covers like you would use for the wires on your TV if its on the wall they are available at Home Depot there are different types and sizes. They are vinyl and have a sticky back on some of them but they are white or black.

Hey Emma I just wanted to say that I like your new dashboard and if you add yourself something too protect your windshield that would help you in the future and I think next you should maybe build yourself a cupholder for up front as well. I really do enjoy watching your videos and always look forward to watching you come up with new projects as well. Great Video Emma 👍👍

You can get that split wire loom in many sizes, as well as p-clamps in either stainless steel or plastic to secure it. With the clamps, you could either shoot new screws to mount them, or use existing screws, just take them out and reinstall them through the hole in the clamp.

6:14 Mark. I have the EXACT same issue. I have gadgets I need when I'm driving but the dash in front of the driver's seat is too small, sloped badly AND made of flimsy material that can't hold any weight. So I'm also looking in to making a shelf that fits over the instrument console. I just get the willies with the idea of putting something against the windshield because the first big bump in the road I can picture my windshield cracking.

I was going to tell you a long time back, but forgot, maybe you could use decorative wire-chase to enclose all that wiring? They have all kinds at home depot. it's like pvc pipe with a slit. or a removeable top allowing you to put the wire in the bracket, then cover it with the pretty plastic, long cap. the stuff on amazon is like 24" long and you get 8 pieces, I think. I use that for my entertainment centers. The stuff at the Depot is 8 feet long I think, been a minute since I bought any. Good to see you on this cold friday :)
@flynnstone3580

They use these pieces of wood that are about 1 1/2 x 3" with a grove already in it. You've seen them before, they run a strap through them when they band pallets and lumber bundles together. They'll give you a couple for free. Just cut a 45 degree when you go around the window. All that wiring should fit in that groove just fine.👍🌹

Hey Emma! Great job on the dash and getting the boxing in started! Just one thing maybe run a strip of black rubber along the edge of the wood that's facing towards (maybe its touching?) the windscreen, so it doesn't mark or crack the front windscreen if any movement! Also please make sure it's well secured down to the dashboard so that it can't fly toward you or through the window in an impact (God forbid) but better safe than sorry! Other than that it's all looking great! I love how you just work things out and get stuck into them! Great attitude! And the Bus is REALLY coming together now! Looks great! You're looking well too.. Cheers from London 👍😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Are there not air vents for the windshield coming from below the platform you built in front of the steering wheel? Or are the vents at the top? Or no vent?! I can't imagine there wouldn't be any vent at all... But I don't have a bus, so what do I know... Yay for trims! It will look a lot more finished once you've done that. After that, enclosing your bathroom and finishing your couches, and your bus will look like a home! Love your hard work and, mostly, your personality, always!

Emma, I love watching your videos and love your attitude. Just an FYI, check your package of tie wraps as most white tie wraps are not UV resistant. What I mean by that is they will get brittle and break when exposed to sunlight for any length of time. If they aren't they will only last a few months if continuously exposed the sunlight. You are probably fine for now, but if you notice them getting yellow, just know you will need to replace them. Look for UV resistant ones when you go to replace them. Of course putting the wiring in an enclosure will protect it from sunlight as well.

So great to see someone with little skill but a can do attitude tackle this job and do well. Keep it up your mojo to do the tasks will come and go(hold on to the ups and try let go of the downs). For your wood ceiling. As the wood ages it will get darker and darker. It's the nature of wood with UV. Try get a clear sealer and put a white tint in the sealer(with a UV protection) I used an external sealer. It makes the sealer almost a watered milky colour. Then give the wood a couple of Coates it will result in a lighter looking wood with the wood grain coming through and prevent the wood from going darker. We use a product Woodoc 30 with a moonglow tint (this is in South Africa) I am sure you guys have something similar. Onwards and upwards.

Anyone can provide a suggestion but only you will know for sure if that would be the decision you want to go with. Always ask the "why" questions for the purpose of learning more from that person. A router would be cool to own though. You are doing such a great job Emma. Yep the most important thing about mounting wires is always to protect them and to make sure they are not kinked anywhere. @darkfactory8082 2 года назад
Da, you made me happy today.. I was waiting for the moment you addressed the wire entanglement hanging all around.. Go, Emmy, just a little more effort to do. Oh, and that pencil in the hair is cool! 😊It's not easy to manage the wires when you move them elsewere as those were supposed to be, since those are always too short or too long. Nice work though, the black ribbed wrap thingy is neat solution. Don't get discouraged if you hit some obstakle, just think and make your way around. Good idea about the overhead concealment unit at the end.. Keep sticking to the pillars with the backing all the way down, then attach side parts from the side into the backing. I think it will be the easier way. Cheers though, you're doing excelent. Don't mind small imperfections and krookedness.. It's a part of the build. I know very well that adaptations in builds are way harder than to build something on measure from scratch. 😜 Keep safe.

To make a plywood shelf look nicer. Get a 1 x 2 or a 1 x 3 oak or pine whatever your plywood is, that's slightly longer than your longest edge. On a tablesaw rip the 1x2 on the edge at like 1/8" so it ends up as a strip 3/4" x 1/8" congrats you now have a piece of edging for your plywood. Cut it same as or slightly longer than your plywood edge. Spread some wood glue on the plywood edge stick your edging on there and use a 18ga brad nailer with about 1" brads spaced about 6" apart. Keep the edging centered as you nail it. Put remaining 3 pieces on etc. Remember this increases the dimensions of shelf by 1/8" each side so figure sizes accordingly. Sand/file top/bottom/ends so they are smooth/square and there's no lip from the face to the edge. Sand corners a bit so they aren't so sharp. You can fill nail holes if you wish. Use some of your sawdust you created mixed with a little wood glue for a good filler that's color matched. There's also thin veneer wood edging that can be glued on...but the 1/8" is a bit easier to work with

That interpretation explains a lot 😕. Have someone stand in front of the bus say 20ft away then walk towards your front bumper, with you in the driver's seat, compare the difference of what you see with and without the shelf, with the shelf it changes your view. It will also block the air of your windshield defrost vents. Just one person's opinion.

Just take the wires and run them through plastic wire sleeving... you can get it from Home Depot in the Electrical section or from an electrical supply house near you. You're gonna need big diameter sleeving, maybe 2 1/2 or 3 inch. Probably can get it on Amazon as well. It will clean everything up and make it easy to get to the wiring if you ever need to again. Wire sleeving is used a lot in the Electrical and Automotive industry.

If you had searched for cable concealers on Amazon you’d have found very inexpensive, simple stick on conduit you could have used to run the wires straight down.
