Great video 👍 check the timing chain, if it has stretched then the tensioner can become lose. There was a problem on 2010-2012 engines across the range where the tensioner and gasket can become lose and lose oil.
Hi well glad your back with us , Well the missing sensor, far be it for me to say ..... but plastic bags , with labels , from now on i think fellow , good luck ...
Phil great to see you back that engine is notorious for oil leaks get the new up rated cam chain tensioner they are longer and last longer as you say it’s good night for the top end ask Mini owner like me ,if you didn’t know different because of the body work trouble you’d say that’s been loosened Of all the oil leaks never seen that one Mini lads sometimes leave the odd bolt lose or don’t tighten the crank bolt properly ,come on lad there’s nowt you can’t fix head down arse up stay safe mate 👍👨🏻🏭
removing the tensioner with out using the locking tools was a brave move it's probably a good idea to get a full chain kit with the bad reputation they have
Chain tensioner is renowned on these engines. I bet it's had a new one and not been tightened properly? Can't believe the previous owner put Hi Fly tyres on the back of that car. That's shocking on a car like that. I have an RCZ Hdi and love it, but didn't want the petrol version due to the tensioner issues. 👍
Hi Phil, lots of conspiracy theories about on this motor. They do not have a good reputation, get it back together soon as, and get it through the auction and move on. Lot better tackle out there to fix mate 👍😎 PS missed you
You have been missed! Certainly lucky with that tensioner could have been a wrecked engine if had become totally unscrewed. Wise to replace it with anew one,
Cheap Chinese tyres on a rare performance car. Proves its not been cared for by a petrol head. I would like to say that tensioner being loose is too coincidental because of your complaints to the body shop. But it looks like the previous owner ran it on a budget.
That's what killed mine on a long run, lost all the oil through the chain tensioner. Luckily the car was still under warranty and Peugeot bought it back. That was the straw though 9 months of the most unreliable car ever. Spent at least 2 months of the time I owned it in the dealer getting the engine fixed, most of which were problems with the timing gear, beautiful car shame about that engine...though I believe the diesel is OK.
Do love your video's but you really do need to organize your workshop better as you shouldn't be losing bits off car's that you have taken apart. Good to see you back seems ages since last video. 👍
Agree the new unit is a great improvement but is already getting in a state with parts and tools scattered everywhere. And get the floor painted before its black with oil and grease
Hi Phil. Welcome Back. I have to mention. From nearly all angles of the camera footage, (when in shot). Looked to me like the nearside front lifting arm was Perilously close to the bottom of the sill. Was the riser at the end of the arm lower than it should be. 🤔🤔🤔
I think it is a little suspicious that it was ok before you took it to the body shop then complained and hey presto a serious oil leak that if you hadn’t spotted it a blown engine. It might just be me but. !!!!!!!!!!!!!
