Those cows like the new bedding. That drone takes great shots of the farm. You are lucky to be living in the days of such technology. There's cows that want to kiss the camera and there's cows that want to kiss the dairyman. I know which one I want to be. It's nice that the cows like you. They don't mind returning affection. Jan suggestions on that bolt on the crowd gate, use a longer bolt and double nut the bolt, cinch down the double nut and it won't back off. Aloha from the Big Island 🤙🏼

Great video Jan and great drone shots. Its no good when your parlour is frozen when you are needing to milk. Glad closing your air vents stops the freezing problem. We have 2 quite cows like your one mother and daughter.

Same here, it mixes better with straight hot water (always had some that didn't dissolve when we've used cold). We use a 15gal chemical barrel and roll down the alley to mix it up.
If you had 1/2" longer bolts and used Teflon lock nuts those would never come apart again. With those nuts it could keep happening. Your call. I find when something that fails and you can fix it where the issue why it fails is corrected you have less work over time. What do you call a cow with no legs ? It doesn't matter. It won't come. OR What do you call a Chinese Cow with two legs on one side ? "She- leans!"

Another good video Jan! Glad it has warmed up a bit to make life easier! Just thinking that a drop or two of LockTite on the threads of the bolt on the overhead doors in the milk parlor would keep them from coming loose without having to tighten them too much.....

I worked on a Holstein farm that had 400 head in the barn i worked my younger year like 20 to 30 years ago. The barn across the road had 400 head. The the farmer had 3 rental properties that had a 100 each. His Holsteins were not friendly at all. Most would kick you then look at you.
Take the bolt, drill a hole in the end of it, run it through the frame, put a washer on it, then run a cotter pin through the hole. Then you won't have to worry about losing the nut off it since you can't tighten it down.

@@lightbulb1982 not sure about you, but farming has been in my family since my Great Great Grand Father drove a ox team from the gulf of mexico to Iowa, then to south dakota, and I've been a machinst for 50 years so I know show to nuts and bolts tight
I like watching your videos I want to dairy farm one time but when you go with a group from a well I belong to a club where mainly challenge people cuz I'm kind of mainly challenged but I went to dairy farm one time and when you're with a group of people you can't really get all the knowledge that you want to get so that's why I like watching your videos I learn a lot and I like to tell you different things suggest things to you to maybe help you out with what you do and at your farm
