I'm a veggie and sandwich options are terrible everywhere! Here's some I like though: Brie with thinly sliced courgettes marinated in harissa and lemon juice Sundried tomato paste (not pesto!) with cornichions and emmental Banana and salted vanilla caramel (luxury treat) Rocket, pesto, tomato and brie (pretty standard) Bahn Mi with thinly sliced and fried tofu
As a lifelong veggie, if I went to the Ritz and paid £££ for pesto and vegetable sandwiches I would have been pisssedddd. Some ideas for sandwiches I eat off the top of my head: smashed avo and egg, falafel and houmous, olive tapenade and mozzarella, brie and grape (honestly elite combo), herby cream cheese (like boursin), marinated and fried tofu, mushroom and thyme pate, tofu mayo with thinly sliced tomatoes, apple and smoked cheese.
@@jonap5740 Vegans don't. I'm actually a pescatarian but never even ask for vegetarian on a plane as they give you vegan that is tasteless. I love Quorn products.
Please do a vlog everyday in an up coming month! This was such a fun adventure-y and chill one. Always enjoy and look forward to your vlogs they truly brighten my day! You're the best Grack, love you!
You definitely need to try the afternoon tea at the assembly house in Norwich, I worked there for a few years, best in Norfolk and I definitely think it could be a contender on your listttt. They do different themes throughout the year ✨
We've been to tea at the Ritz and I thought the sandwiches were good but I thought there was too much sweet and not enough savoury or variety of savoury - the experience was amazing. Food wise I preferred La Colonnades Signet library Edinburgh - they have sandwiches, baby quiche etc and lots of different baby desserts and cake, scones etc. Yummy 😋
Great video. Hope you feel one hundred percent fine now! I am vegetarian, not vegan but we have plant based cream cheese, mayo, cheese crumbles, etc. Being a US southerner, I would have to include (vegan) pimento cheese, pineapple, and the traditional cucumber. I would also do grilled asparagus and/or green bean with a lemon/mayo spread and a chickpea 'tuna' salad. That would be five totally different sandwiches. Throw in the tomato pesto that you were served and that would be six. Yummy.
So true grack love is for everyone.... I love extra your amazing keep hoping over the top gurrrllllll!!!! You shine so bright and I love it being authentic is sooooo the way to be xx
agree 100% with what you said about veggie stuff!! im vegan and pesto is hardly even vegetarian as it has cheese with rennet in 😭 really puts me off doing an afternoon tea. where's the vegan cream cheese, vegan cheeses, chickpea tuna, jackfruit fake meat, falafel, tofu, and even egg for vegetarians?? especially when you're paying so mucb!
Grace! When you go to New York, you should take a bus to the Woodbury Commons which are about an hour and a half out of NYC. You will blow your mind at the amazing selection of stores you can shop at! I’m not sure if you have outlet malls in the UK
have you been to the pump rooms afternoon tea in bath ? we had a weird and wild mix of allergies and they catered to us all perfectly, including full explanations of where we had our variations (like - the standard afternoon tea would have this thing, we have given you this alternative thing because it is similar in this way)
I did the veggie tea at Bletchley park and it had more variation than the Ritz. My friend was eyeing my sandwiches with envy. It is hard as a vegetarian as we get few variations of quorn here in US. I eat fish thankfully or eating out would suck. Comptoir libanais at Duke of York Square had great variety for me. I can't tolerate soy so love Quorn.
I feel like this is so random but you seem to be so great at just living in the moment and doing the things you love when you want to, not saving them up for a day that will never come! I would love to get to that where I can see spending my money as a memory bank, but I just worry. Do you have any tips?
I’m pretty sure the hook on the back of the door is for your coat, jacket cardigan etc and the low down one by the loo will be for your handbag so that you have ready access if needed. As a vegetarian of over thirty years, the choices available for vegetarians in restaurants and cafes has always been awful and sadly it is probably better now than it has ever been. When I was young and going out to eat in the early/mid 90’s, many places didn’t have a vegetarian option at all, for many the only option was a cheese salad and the ones that gave a choice, it was normally between vegetable cannelloni and mushroom stroganoff with rice. Though I will say that it slightly irritates that me that often if I eat out or order in, the vegetarian options are are all spicy…and personally, I don’t always want spicy food. I find the lack of imagination when it comes to vegetarian options mind boggling as you can essentially make a vegetarian/vegan version for the vast majority of meat based dishes, instead of making almost every veggie option seem like a last minute thought.
You were very lucky not to be shimmied out as they are very clear when you book, your afternoon tea slot is for two hours - there are other people booked in the later slots - just think how annoyed you’d be if you’d booked at 19:30 and couldn’t get seated as someone else was delaying leaving. Also surprised you didn’t have much of a tea choice - I’ve had afternoon tea at The Ritz three times and have always had a choice of about 25 different teas - ditto refills, although I’ve never wanted refills (carbohydrate overload) And to answer your question as a vegetarian, unless I’ve been to a specific vegetarian restaurant, you get used to things being restricted and unimaginative (and I wouldn’t choose to eat in a Gordon Ramsey restaurant any longer). My worst experience was a lunch, booked with friends for a specific event, it was a set meal .....the vegetarian option (I believe I was the only vegetarian who’d booked) was rice and peas .... and not even good rice and peas. Through choice for a meal if there was a lack of a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, I’d go to an Indian restaurant as, by and large, their vegetarian choices and food are exceptional
Two suggestions Grace! You need to slow down and show us more of the food and variety! Is that for one person or two? Does the birthday cake come with the other cakes. Are all those sandwiches for one?! Also, Please please do the Cadbury world one/ M and S ones for a more "average person" option! Thank you.
Hi Grace, I’ve enjoyed your videos for a few years now. So glad I discovered your channel! I’ve seen where people have sent you gifts. And would like to send a gift to you myself. I’m a 30 year veteran of the hotel industry (specifically front desk) and have written the book with a humorous slant about my experiences. I’d love for you to have a copy. Do you have a PO Box to which I can send a copy? Very best regards, Kimberly Annington.
There's something so capitvating about your vlog presence. Btw idk if you’re into nyc vlogs but if so, you might like mine! I’d be sooo grateful if you swung by and took a peek. 🙏 Stick around if you like!
