Those riffles are where I catch all the darters here in Indiana, great job and thanks for sharing.

Wish there were more darters in Nebraska. We have 4 species but there all becoming less common because of farm and city pollution. Glad we have the stonecats though.

3:03 LOL its hilarious when youre on an outing with a friend and that happens to them xD also I have a question, do you use an add-on mic? Ive always wanted to do videos similar to this but my built-in gopro mic barely picks me up when Im talking :/

No I just use the GoPro audio. I’m always surprised at how well it sounds. I have a hero 8 black. Whenever I switch to my phone it’s terrible because I have an iPhone 8.

Hi, I subscribed a while back and I have been watching your videos! I live in Nebraska and I have caught some different fish in a creek and river, with a net, there’s these small shiners that live in the creek there’s thousands, I think they are sand shiners, but I’m still not 100% sure they could just be fathead minnows, I have 2 in one of my tanks. I also have caught this tiny catfish in a net in a river and I kept it for one of my tanks aswell which I’m not 100% sure on the species it’s not a channel or blue or flathead, it has to be either a stone cat or a madtom or just a baby bullhead cat, I have bullheads in a tank to and that’s what makes me think it could be a baby bullhead because of the tail and the body shape but than after watching you catch stone cats it looks like it could be one of them, do you have a Instagram that I could maybe message you and send you pictures for you to maybe help ID them? Thanks!

I’d rather not share the exact location but you can find these guys in larger turbid urban streams all over Omaha. Check fishmap.org or iNaturlist for locations were people have caught these fish.

Is that a type of madtom?
@Nebraska_Fish

Yeah, I thought maybe it wasn’t but it’s in the Noturus genus which is the madtoms.
