Truth be told, the game won't probably see a large resurgence in players until something like the Illumanite faction is added. Even if AH gets a lot of these issues resolved, something fresh is needed.
And a major rework to how missions and planets are. There needs to be cities, new environments, space battles. They also need to make every weapon insanely good.
Def asking way too much however I do agree that they need to add something to the game loop. It’s fun as it is now but they need other mission types. I want the … I feel like I’m bored with this type of thing now let’s go do this instead
My big concern with this and future Major Orders is that lack of information regarding the supply lines. Until Arrowhead can implement something long term into the game, they should be including planet names that are critical to hold for major orders in the mission briefing. That way it shows up in-game and people know what planets to keep an eye on, without going to external apps/sites.
Right now, more than any new content, I'd like some of the major/annoying bugs and balance issues to be fixed. - Walking near a bile titan corpse is like playing russian roulette - Bots shooting through terrain/dead bots - Climbing up terrain sometimes doesn't work - Foggy planets where the bots know exactly where to shoot from far away but you can't see them - etc etc
Don't forget the Arc Thrower just deciding that, sometimes, it doesn't wanna fire when you release the trigger. Even if there's a horde of bots standing there spraying you with bullets and rockets.
@@ShinobiNeon Same thing as the stratagems. When you wanna throw the stratagem beacon quickly after doing the inputs, sometimes it switches back to your weapon so you shoot instead of throwing the beacon
Three points: 1. I don’t think AH should increase difficulty if we get through this MO “too quickly.” A lot of people are going the extra mile to turn around the recent trend and negativity, so giving us another failure or even adding to the grind would not help. We all want the game to be “fun” again, a quick victory (and new strategem) would help. 2. Understood that the game has a lot of problems, but it’s clear AH has gotten the message and is trying to fix things. What say we give them a chance to do so? I’m willing to give them another week or so, given the amount of work involved. 3. WTF is up with Sony/Valve? IMO, the delay in fixing the account access is intentional. As a result, the player community is not going to recover for a long time, if ever. Absolutely no excuse for this, and I think it’s fair to lay this at the feat of Sony. Hope other devs are watching. This has been a great game, even with all the problems. Let’s give the new leadership a chance and stand strong for managed democracy!
Honestly far as patch frequency, it's wild how quickly the community got spoiled with the frequency of it (not a bad thing), thinking to just about any other game ever we'd be seeing monthly style patches, I definitely think this'll be healthy for the game long term
@@johnnybgoode8104 so it’s a conspiracy they don’t want to fix it they want to lose more players and ruin the game. Tell us! You know the entire operation at Arrowhead right? Spill the tea fellow helldiver!
@@overtherenowaitthere IMO I think it's taking so long to fix it partly because the balance & dev team is sitting there saying its balanced when they don't actually play the game. They probably just spawn in enemies take pot shots at them a bit to get some data (or vis versa) and call it tested. Honestly I'd say there is a lot of disconnect going around in AH because the last MO's don't really seem to have taken into account the loss of players / the data on players are playing the game. I believe we lost Vernen Wells mostly because the missions types for defense are shitty / buggy causing players to not fully finish the missions / missions groups ( I experienced a bug with the rocket evacuation mission where it would stall at 7/8, no enemies would spawn and last rocket would never launch multiple times). The battlefronts on both sides of the war have been pretty much stagnant for weeks now (feels like months but I'm not entirely sure on that one) meaning its the same old planets with the same old missions, and a massive slog against the spawn rates. Personally I barely play anymore and unless a MASSIVE change happens in the next patch to make the game fun again I pretty much won't be playing the game (a sentiment that I feel is echoed by many other divers). So while there is most likely no "conspiracy", I do get the feeling that some of AH (balance team and possibly some Devs) are dragging their feet / pushing back against reverting / alleviating the nerfs done to weapons and buffs done to patrols.
I just want the primary weapons to be fun again! Nerfing magazine count by half was the worst move ever in my honest opinion. Relying on random players to coordinate resupply drops can be a challenge. Most people rely on support weapons for bots, and only like 2 or 3 weapons are viable.
Damn I don’t use Twitter/X but I would have suggested why don’t we have a cryo support weapon like the flame thrower?Let it allow us to shatter enemies or an eagle-like gas attack but cryo to freeze a mob in place.Blows my mind we don’t have this yet.
They confirmed more 'throwers' are on the way. But you know how much time creating stuff takes? Especially with the things they are trying to get right now, people always complain but have no idea how much time goes into creating things for games.
Realistically it takes significantly more time in liquid nitrogen to freeze room temperature objects complete solid than you would think. I would be a minor inconvenience to enemies on hot planets, but only effective in cold conditions. On a related note, I would think Terminids should be more effective in certain environments than others.
The patch is better be good. I am waiting on solely this revert spawn rate and then it get's it's last chance to balance things to a more fun-approach again, no matter how good "meta"-builds will be. If they can manage that, I think a few people will come back. But the damage is done. Sony never revertet it's way. Stay crunchy.
@@JacobKelley-vw1pw it's not about making it all easy. I bought the game a little before the railgun nerf. It was insanely fun, just an absolute blast. But the constant nerfs have all taken a bit of fun out of it. Sure it's still a fun game, and it's still playable, but it is definitively less fun than it was. This is a PvE game, why on earth are they so obsessed with balancing weapons? And aside from that, it appears to be balancing from spreadsheets, not from things being broken in game. That's the problem, and that's what drives players away
@@theBishopp The idea that PvE games don't need balancing is so silly. People act like the player numbers are dropping because of this balancing mindset, but completely ignore the fact that if the Railgun hadn't been nerfed we still would of seen a declining player engagement. People act like being super OP is fun, which is true, but that's such a short-term mindset. While its beyond super fun for a little while anything too good in excess gets boring. People get tired of their favorite food if they have it for every meal. Eventually probably much sooner than we got with the nerfs people would of gotten bored having a automatic win button even at max level difficulty. The grass is always greener on the other side and no one is every happy with what they get.
The game is suffering from hemorrhaging from multiple stab wounds in the chest right now. A tiny band-aid isn't going to cut it. If the new patch doesn't revert all the nerfs and undo the awful spawn rate changes and actually make the game more fun to play (like reducing Automaton accuracy so they don't have pinpoint aim across the map through smoke and terrain), then it's not going to matter. We'll be below 10k players before we even hit July/August. I know that if the patch doesn't revert the Eruptor and Railgun nerfs, I'm quitting the game. I'm the only person out of my TWENTY-TWO (22) friends who own Helldivers 2 who still even plays at all. I've only logged in once or twice this week. I can barely bring myself to play considering how unfun the game has become.
Same dude. Used to play daily after work now it's meh. It's not fun. I don't have a decent to to load out anymore I'm over finding something liking it then it gets nerfed. Rinse repeat. I'm over it. It's boring now
The games in a really really bad place after the Sony debacle They need to get the available in those countries again And they need to do SOMETHING to pull all those players back
There's just not any new content for the game in a really long time. Sure a new warbond gives some new rewards for grinding but the mission and enemy types haven't expanded as fast as they used to and the playerbase feels it. It's stagnated with all the only changes being more nerfs to weapons players liked.
I am okay with the enemies we have right now, but some new mission types and environments (preferably somewhere once populated) would go a long way. At least having better weapon balance we did a few patches ago would help.
@psycho - yes, that exactly. It’s not an MMO. When the game first launched, I imagine that they had extra content in the pipeline ready to be deployed. And then a whole lot of different things happened. So give ‘em a minute, it’ll sort itself out and people will come back for a bit and then do something else for a bit and then come back. That’s ok :) doesn’t mean the game is dying or that the developer is going to give up on it
@@ThePsychoRenegade Personally I can understand not having new content like missions or enemies quickly. The problem though is that the game didn't become boring only due to repetition, it became boring due to balance issues. I feel that leaving the game to take a break and wait for new content is massively different than basically being forced to leave the game because the devs nerfed your weapons (with so few actually being particularly good), and the enemies got buffed (amount of enemies, damage, aim) instead of bugs getting fixed (corpse mechanics for certain enemies, enemies shooting through solid objects, enemies being able to tell where you are when they pass over a mine that was layed down ages ago and you aren't near it, etc.).
Kind of wish there was a 64-128 player mode where the whole team goes all out war over automatons and the bugs. Artillery, tanks, infantry, gunships, etc. Would be a helluva experience.
player base keeps declining purely because of the stupid "well if everyone uses it it must be nerfed" mentality. i bought a armor piece in the shop and for a while wasn't able to buy a new warbond, finally I got the super credits together and bought the warbond with the adjudicator and the eruptor and then boom both get nerfed into the ground. It killed all my motivation to play and i havnt touched the game since
You guys are prophets! Exactly what you said might happen just happened; Angel’s Venture is under attack. Losing it would slow down our MO progress by at least 5%. 2:24
Hear me out. - Eagle strategem that drop a 500kg-size playload that creates tremors for a few seconds - Eagle strategem that shoots a single projectile/playload that can peirce high-armor parts like orbital railgun. - Or something like an area denied playload like gas or static that cover larger area than the orbital ones but last much shorter.
We have 2 of those. 110mm rockets, incendiary. Tremors may be useful but it would be hard to take that over air strikes as it’s dps that’s usually lacking.
I think you might be reading into the “not the patch to rule all other patches” comment. He’s probably just saying this upcoming patch will be the general size of patches going forward
I think a massive drone that spawns small little drones that shoot at enemies is a cool idea. The more people use it the more small drones are produced and making it extremely deadly to anything in it's proximity before it runs out of ammo for the small drones.
I think the thing about the communication as to the state of the galactic war, liberation bonuses, and certain weapon stats is based on how Arrowhead likes making games that have a flavor of linear progression and specifically a Dungeons and Dragons type storytelling/gamemaster experience. Having certain mechanics operating behind the scenes is one of the things they really seem to like because it gives the type of player they’re after a deeper connection with the game world as they try and figure out what’s actually happening, what weapons and strats really do work in what situations etc. I think this game is designed this way on purpose. Sure, your average player might never watch RU-vid videos or peruse Reddit for this kind of info, but for those of us that like digging deeper it’s a really huge part of what makes the game fun. Like Arrowhead says, “A game for everyone is a game for no one.” 8:13
Well they COULD disclose things that armor have actual hidden stats. White gives you less range to be spotted in winter/ice maps, red outfits draws MORE aggro to you, etc.
@DutchGuyMike since when was that an actual thing lmao, I rummage through the sub reddit and all sorts of content online and have never heard of armor color itself having effects
Fair enough; I play lots of different games and I love the idea of a game for everyone. In this specific context, however, I’m pointing out that one of the reasons it may be like this is because of Arrowhead’s philosophy of making a specific type of game for a specific audience. HD2 got way more popularity than they were expecting and part of that is because it’s not a COD clone. But yes, in-game comms could be better. They actually just sent a communique in-game about the need to defend Angel’s Venture because of the liberation bonus mechanic. I think more of that is great. But there’s still an element of not disclosing everything that makes the game interesting to me. All of this is just my opinion.
Personally, the thing Twinbeard mentioned sounds like they're slowing down "for now" rather than forever. They've mentioned several times before they want to get back on track and get things in a better state. You don't do that with kneejerk reactions. I have seen ALL of these signs through other live service games. They are simply having them call (Change in command, publisher intervention, balance and gameplay worries, etc...) call at once. This is good. They're learning quickly.
you and everyone else but somehow people miss that and claim we just want *OP* things, it was funny to laugh at them now it just sad that they believe what they say.
As much as I love eagles.... We need our own gunship that comes and orbits us or a location for a minute or something. That functionality is already in the game on extract if you leave the zone when he comes down to land. He will hover and cover you until you come back
I would go as far to say longer patch time is good. But if something is urgent theyll probably fix it asap (if they can) just cause theyre planning on slowing down patches doesn't mean theyll make the community wait for a hot fix... cause hot fix and patch are totally different updates
One more comment; I think the biggest issue with the number of players that play consistently isn’t that people are mad about spawn rates or weapon nerfs, it’s simply that they’ve exhausted the content. I’m weird I guess, but I have zero issues with the spawn rates or weapon stats, I’m level 74 and have absolutely everything unlocked and I’m capped on all currency. The thing that would drive me to want to play more is new content that I can earn. 14:50
Yeah, totally. And I get that 100%; a ton of us have been playing non stop for like 3 months and you definitely can get burnt out. That happens with tons of games. This is the longest I’ve consistently played a game like this and I still love it. I might be broken haha.
Personally, this next patch is Arrowheads last chance for me before I take a significant break. Every patch they've had since launch has been mediocre at best with some minor exceptions. Im fine with patches taking abit longer but if they don't deliver, its going to drain peoples inthusiasm more than ever.
They could add an extra stratagem slot on planets or sectors that in the major order. This would incentivize the divers. The mechanic already exists on suicide + on certain planets just you have one less stratagem.
Arrowhead needs to do something and fast. Until recently, i would get off work around midnight and jump on to between 250k-300k players. This morning was like 36k, thats bad. I decided to just play Stellar Blade and FFXIV until they either restore the slugger/eruptor to their former glory or add city/urban maps. My main problem is they nerfed by favorite weapons and i dont like the ones that are "meta" now
For running Laser only build, the Laser 360 eagle strike would finally fill the gap. I think it would be awesome with high risk, like the cluster bomb. If not in cover, you need to duck or get cut in half. It should be able to destroy bot fabrications and bug holes if lined up with the laser beams.
I think an attack helicopter Called the "Kestrel" could be cool, like a mix between the pelican and Eagle. Maybe a "Kestrel close air support" where it hovers from far away and fires an autocannon and rocket pods at specific enemies. Maybe an ATGM as well?
We're losing 15k players a week, at this rate, we'll be at 10k in about 4-5 weeks. Its crazy how popular it was, at almost half a million and now we're gonna be less than 10% of that.
Oh yeah, that makes sense. My newborn little brother doubled in size in about a month. This means that he's on the right track to weigh a thousand fucktons by the time he's seven years old. Because that's just how statistics work, isn't it?
lol, well the infant analogy aside, yeah I wouldn’t expect it to bottom out. It’s definitely on a curve, and as I said in another reply, it’s mostly content driven at this point. There’s over 12 million people that own the game; they’re going to cycle in and out. Most of them aren’t vocal in forums like this or discord or Reddit, they just like playing games, and when there’s new content in their game, they will come back.
It’s also super normal for a game like this to generate a ton of players right after launch and then to level off. When the game launches (or there’s new content) a lot of people will play all at once, but as it gets older, people will play consistently for a couple weeks and then do something else for a while and then maybe come back for a few weeks. Take a look at the numbers for Baulders Gate, you get a similar situation there.
i find it sad that there are *players* celebrating the lose of players. we get it AH was not ready for this spike of popularity. Then the ones copping this a "*normal*" decline of players? we're in *MONTH 3* of the games life that beyond pathetic to try logic this to normal.
@@black_ghost1215 definitely not celebrating the loss of players, my friend. Simply stating that the game is not in fact dead. Other games are similar decrease in player count. Doesn’t mean the game is in trouble or dead.
I cannot wait for the next balance patch. So many of the primary weapons feel underpowered and useless right now, especially on the higher difficulties.
What do you mean counter attack / defnense mission? The major order says to liberate Varylia 5. Not hold it. The victory condition is not hold Varylia 5 by the end of the timer. As soon as Varylia 5 is liberated the order should be compledted, no matter how many days are still left
Is this before or after they fix Damage over time? Also that's just Napalm or Gas... so unless you make it a cluster thermite munition, it's just clutter.
We already have a way to nullify enemy reinforcements. Just force them to call them somewhere you aren't going to be at. 380mm strike excels at this. Just throw it at a random base or POI, and you have 5 seconds to leave and get to your real target. As long as you don't trigger a drop before the mayhem, you can sit and watch dropships fly away over there, before you go in on that stratagem jammer knowing there will only be a handful of guards. It's why helldive is actually super easy, if you want it to be.
Yeah, but most of those tactics is only possible with a pre-made squad of friends. Randoms don't really communicate or team work all that well, and Helldive is impossible sometimes even WITH that - ever since that Patrol patch a 6 felt like a 9 and a 9 felt like a 6 and so on and so forth. The last Helldive missions were like 5 Tanks, 7 Hulks, 9 Gunships. This is not normal, and ever since that Patrol patch spawns and reinforcements have varied WILDLY. I made several posts about it but was always ridiculed until the devs confirmed that the system is broken and is NOT working as intended. Perception FTW!
They need to give us something no locked behind an MO or whatever. Like now if we lose Angels Venture the SEAF training facilities just disappear? It’s like we failed that last one by a hair and didn’t get shit, we might fail this one cause people like fighting just one enemy instead of both, it’s just kind of annoying. Like they barely give us shit and all the drama that happened, it feels like they are just locking all our awards and I’ve been playing since the beginning but it all feels just annoying now.
Besides the patches coming and new content, what I'm also wondering is when the illuminates are coming. Because, funnily enough, as much as I want to fight them (run from them) now, the suspense is part of the fun. Would not mind if they only come out by the year anniversary. This also could be a good thing for the devs and players as it allows us to become more invested into the bot and bug conflict by having them consistently changing and adapting to us. F the new bugs. And boy, imagine the bots and bugs are at their strongest. Then, bam. Illuminates.
They need to make it clearer about how the team contribution number works. We also need merch for it. If you took money from a million people, then restrict them from playing or their friends from playing, you will kill your game, duh.
If at least the weapons from the latest warbond get fixes it can make me and many others play again for a bit. It feels like a while since new content was added because people did not have new toys to test and have fun, we had a meh pistol and a pretty nice grenade with reskin armors.
Some kind turret/strategem weapon thats like mini ICBM with laser pointer thats more powerful than a 500kg but also you have make sure it doesnt get attacked while you use something like the Quasar beam and fire rate as the single use laser pointer.
Honeygain is a bit sus, you effectively become a VPN node, with all the risks that entails. (Like being blacklisted) Honeygain's clients appear to be mostly above board, but bad eggs slip through and you could find yourself involved in something nasty, like distributing or being a C3 node for malware.
I feel the bonuses however I did noticed that the SEAF bonus actually shoots at the bot drop ships however the accuracy of it needs to be a little better
I still play. And I play solo. Training. I'm not that good so I work in impossible. I went from dying almost immediately. To winning campaigns. Or getting close and dying lol. There's progress. With a new balance. I hope to be better.
Losing Vernen wells for not one but two useless bug front planets we will re lose in a week is so encouraging, thanks bug divers for being useful as always
oh wow im so hyped for this update surely it wont just be another fucking bond pass that i either have to grind extremely for or to just out right buy for new content that will become the meta for the coming months untill the next bond pass comes out
The fall in player numbers is natural. Some people will be back when something big happens but I dislike the framing that this because of this or that nerf. There was no way that the game was going to hold like half a million players. People don't play games like that. The people left reflects the actual community size, not the hyped up bandwagon. New people are still coming in and old people are still leaving, that's how a healthy online game works.
I think that is just normal for people to move on at some point. I have maxed everything and whilst is cool to have a game or two the absence of a "chase" doesn't motivate me to play. I hope the devs take their time to make great stuff but trying to "force" a high playercount is just not possible imo
To fix the assault rifle rover, what if they swapped it's armament to the sickle? So infinite ammo and cool down same as the other one, but a different type of projectile - could alleviate the rover mag dumping on an armoured enemy and wasting its ammo
I know it would be unrealistic, but they should just give the standard rover infinite ammo. Otherwise it will always be inferior to the Rover, no matter what.
@@Spectacular_Insanity I’d take the ability to give it a specific gun from my loadout and tell it to only shoot specific types of enemies. Throw an eruptor on it and tell it to only attack devastators see how far you get it would be so nutty with how accurate that thing can be.
@Omni0404 what I’m trying to convey is that it would have nearly the same functionaility and damage output as Guard dog if both had heat based weapons that need to cool down, making them redundant. The only way to change that is give it higher caliber rounds and targets medium enemies, that way you have rover for clearing chaff enemies and standard guard dog for devastated, hive guards, etc. or just set it so both have toggles to change targeting of enemy types
If the patch that is coming next isn't going to add anything meaningful, whether it be the balances or the spawn changes and some new things, then i really think it's going to be make or break. I, for one, am kinda bored of playing the same maps with very little variety or having to deal with annoying enemies with weapons that dont feel good to use and seem to do nothing helpful. Right now, i think the reason we have been failing these major orders is because of the issues and the overall feelings, which twords everything that's been going on you can phisicly see the change in enemy spawns and with weapons that have been made incompitent, the only reason to do anything in the game right now is to make your own fun. Whether it be high kill counts or bugs or try not to get extremely frustrated with bots. The last two kill missions would have been easier if they had said that they changed the mulitplier from four to one and say they fixed it to not have a modifier but still have a small modifier.
It really sucks that at the moment most of the player base (the minority specifically) stopped playing the game because the devs are gate keeping new content. Communication is also a huge major role in bringing players back- and without any teasers on upcoming patches we can't be hyped up for anything.
''wow thanks for letting us know that you are changing the patrol spawns for solo players! what else can you tell us about the other upcoming changes?'' devs: its a secret, just wait a couple weeks and you'll see me: ok ill just stop playing
Man Arrowhead cannot find their way out of a wet paper bag. What a massive fumble. They had the potential to be as successful as Fortnite. Cant wait for Shadow Of the Erdtree to save us all from this disappointment 🙌
Maybe they shouldn't have touched the guns. Why take the fun out of the game. Gun nerfs are stupid for a PVE game epically on the back of the game box it literally said spread democracy with overpower weapons.
Sure the Sony drama majorly affected the game, but the devs have been killing it internally with radical weapon “balancing” and increasing enemy lethality.
I have been subscribed to you for awhile now…no idea why it just let me click subscribe again when I clicked to watch this video of yours that was literally in my notifications…
Yeah this game will die fast. The lat major update was the Polar war bind which was terrible and now their going space out the updates even more. Jeez they struck gold and didnt know what to do with it
I think the bonus is fine and actually super cool, its the lack of in game information that is not okay. They need to show more info on the map like and not just hide it in the modifiers tap and stuff.
People need more in game rewards, skin for killing millions of bug, things like that that keep give a reason to players to play, not a warboud for 10$ a month that give 3 weapon and useless armor, i loved this game, but is a scam
It's the "cool guys don't look at explosions" meme. Some people like seeing a cool explosion as they go into the exfil cut scene. The problem comes in with people miss timing the calldown and blowing up themselves or teammates and causing the loss of samples and exp.
