Thr blue hands are my major reservation. They make the whole thing look cheap. Either do heat blued hands, or maybe not at all.

I bought this version and I love it ! I also have the other 38 mm Bambino (version VII) and frankly I love them both and I would buy a third one if they ever decided to make another 38 mm version. Since the Bambino version I had was the white dial I was very happy to have the "champagne" version now. The small seconds ? Nice addition, I like that it is different from the other 38 mm watch (version VII). The strap ? Just as it should be, a good leather strap for the right price given the total price of the watch. In my opinion they did a fantastic job ! I wonder what will be next in the 38 mm size !!! If Orient reads this blog: please, please I would love to see the classic monarch (manual-wind only would be best !) watch coming back, but this time in a 38 mm size; with arabic numerals, power reserve indicator, and a thin strap piece, it would be a really nice addition to the 38 mm series !

The ORIENT ”Bambino" (RA-AP0002S10A) was a better execution of a small seconds, it has JLC Master Control vibes. This new release does nothing for me.

I own regular champagne dial small seconds (40.5) and I absolutely adore that watch. I wouldn't even remotely consider swapping it to any of these (38mm and small sec works, but not with roman numerals for me). Absolutely agree on white being the best looking. For me, blue hands work best on white dial. In terms of value for money, and considering I own and love my bambino, they are not worth a peny above 170 usd. Straps are only meh, 30m, mineral...but they are very well made, they have a ton of charm, they look way more expensive and they are super comfortable. Plus original designs and from a non-greedy and reputable brand with history. Highly highly recommended, but only for 100$ less than the msrp price.

Okay: I have the 2nd generation, 2nd version. I’m getting the impression that Orient didn’t want to do just a smaller version of Gen 2 v2, because that really wouldn’t be enough to encourage current owners of the original to make the purchase. The seconds subdial does have the advantage of increasing the retro vibes that the original had. So i do plan to keep an eye out for this one.

I purchased the 38mm Bambino that came out earlier this year with the cream dial, and yea, the strap was garbage. I paired it with a Vario Italian leather strap with the cream stitching, and it now looks like a $500 watch.

Bambino’s can be addictive. I also wonder how is the Chinese politico-economic situation is going to affect their watch industry. I know for a fact a lot of US manufacturers are already moving to Mexico. I suspect Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailannd will pick up the manufacturing of watches from that region eventually.

I had the 40 (gen 2) et I have now the 38 with cream dial and the 38 Bambino are so much better than the old one. 40 is way too much for a dress watch (in my opinion). Good move from Orient ! I would love a 38 with roman numbers but without the small second.

I usually dig small second subdial, and think it looks OK here. Also like the dimensions of this piece. And I usually don't like white dials, or gold plated watches, but think both of them look better than the others in this instance. Weird. Think I'd like the black (usually my favorite) more if the subdial wasn't silver. But overall an attractive line of watches in my opinion.

Negative on the gold plated comments. If you have a darker complextion the gold watches will work fantastic for us or if you have a tan it will work great for you too.

They look too blue in these pics. Makes it look painted. The blued hands should look almost black most of the time, like real heat blued hands.

Indeed, I sold off my Bambino v2 gen2 as I regretted buying a mineral glass watch, and domed too. It made me so careful of wearing it, so worried about scratching it, it was easier to just let it go rather than changing the glass myself. IMHO, a Cadisen or Starking offers a lot more value, with a high-beat Miyota 9015 and sapphire of course (with real leather strap, not the fake one given by Orient), and I like their looks too (although many may prefer the Bambino look). I think if one wants a low-price Orient, just get the Kamasu 1, Kamasu 2, or Mako 3, fabulous watches. If one wants an Orient dress watch, save more and get an Orient Star.

If you invest in a crystal press for very little money, mineral crystal is perfectly fine... because replacements are super cheap. Good luck finding a good quality bubble domed sapphire glass in exactly the right size for cheap!

It's designed that way to balance the dial. Cartier and many others do the same.

I still don't understand what people like about bambino. It has the worst dimensions for a dress watch plus mineral crystal, i also hate raised double dome but it's personal

@@Horologique I Don't hate Orient, i have Ray II and love it, also i respect what you are doing. Let me give you an example, imagine if you scale the image by only with or height and breaking aspect ratio will it look natural? Same is about this 38mm version, if you make a smaller diameter watch it needs to be thinner as well otherwise it will look chunky and what really upset me is that it's totally possible to do, just by changing the crystal and case back it becomes 2mm thinner... I had this experience when i bought 38mm skx it was terribly chunky and raised from the wrist because of the same thickness as 42mm version

Love it.but no sapphire,no deal. Believe it or not,i recently had a direct hit on my seiko mojito and i have to pay forty euros to change the hardlex crystal. Mineral crystals are a no go for me ...

@@Horologique nope.the domed moneral crystals are a scratch magnet and expensive to replace.(From the official dealerships).seiko has zero respect for its customers these days.the crappy clasps and the hardlex are unacceptable.cheers
