Ooof! I just spent the day accompanying my young son to his chemo appointment (lymphoma) and sat down with a glass of wine to watch a few RU-vid videos and unwind. What do I come across? This wonderful and inspiring video about a beautiful woman who is also a cancer survivor. It gives me a bit more hope for my son. Thank you!!
So sorry to hear about your son. Thank you for writing such a lovely comment. That's so nice that you enjoyed my film, just then when you sat down with your glass of wine. Sending good wishes to you and your son x
I concure! I got doored a couple of years back, and did a flip over the handlebars. Landed on the road, broke my elbow 😩but the helmet saved my skull 🙂! Helmets are non-negotiable.
Dear Susanne, you are a real star and a source of inspiration for many people. Thank you for all your efforts and I hope you don't suffer too much. In other words, that there is a nice and healthy balance between effort and relaxation.
Wake up to the first day of the year and I watch Susanna on her Brompton , free and on the open road , what a joy 😊. And the sun is shining both inside and outside here , roll on 2024 . Peace and Joy to Susanna and everyone xxx
Great to see your latest adventure Susanna 🤗 The Netherlands looked so picturesque and civilised with some really fab (and quiet) camp sites. I thoroughly enjoyed your increased dialogue showing the daily highs and challenges of heading out in unfamiliar lands! I can only imagine the joy and satisfaction that you must have felt to be back in the saddle again to complete your planned trip of more than a year earlier....brilliant that you got to do it and to share it!! Your food looked as appetising as ever by the way and I could smell that pancake and elderflower combo from here! Looking forward to seeing what unfolds in Germany and I hope the knee trouble stayed away for you!! 🤞 Wishing you a fantastic 2024 ahead - where you will feel healthy and free to do all that you wish!! 😍 xx
Hi Miriam! aw thank you for the lovely message! aw it is nice to know what you think, eg about all the lows and mistakes, yeh I make a lot of silly mistakes, always haha. I thought I'd put a few in! It felt soooo good to be able to do that trip. I was just saying to Colin who commented on here how I pushed my train ticket back and back, hoping for the best, getting setbacks, moving the ticket and hoping again... Wishing you all the best for 2024 too, loads of lovely good bits good things good people good days good places good food good roads and blue skies and happiness xxx
This is so great to see! I live with complex mental illness which disables me a lot and cycling has given me back a lot of independence. I want to cycle through France to Rotterdam so this is inspiring!
Hello Susanna, yesterday Saturday I had the opportunity to watch several of your videos because I missed your trips and I enjoyed them very much, I was looking forward to your new posts and today Sunday 12/31/23 in the morning this one appears, it is wonderful, I love these trips and I look forward to this 2024 we are lucky enough to see more of your phenomenal trips, greetings and Happy 2024 😊✨💫👍🥂🍾🚴🚴🚴
Watching from halfway across the world, all your videos always bring a smile to me. All the detours were just happy accidents. Thank you. I hope one day I could join you on my Brompton!
Welldone Susanna, this is just what the Doctor ordered, a nice video featuring the sights and sounds of Summer:) Something to look forward to, it's been so wet in the UK recently. Glad your knee held out in the end and you made it to Germany. I think taking a break on a multi day trip can work wonders, sometimes it's good to get away from chasing progress. Best Wishes for the New year ahead. Sandy
Hi Sandy! Aw thank you for the lovely comment. Yeh during these dark wet winter days, I really enjoyed making this very summery film. The soundtrack of cycling in summer was what struck me the most, blackbirds singing in the evenings, and things like that, so lovely! Yes a longer trip is a brilliant thing, I love the feeling, the days stretching ahead, nothing to do but ride and eat and sleep and watch things go by, wonderful. I felt so lucky, dream come true. Thank you for watching! Best wishes to you too for the year to come!
Hi Susanna. I just wanted to say thank you for making your videos about Brompton cycling trips. My wife and I do a Brompton tour every year, usually abroad but sometimes in Suffolk and Norfolk. I use your videos as inspiration to get out there and explore new places, We don't camp (yet) on our tours, but I really appreciate that you record your camping places and particularly your meals! Lots of ideas there. Thanks again. Chris
Hi Chris aw thanks for writing. Sounds great you guys heading off together on tours like that. I wonder where you plan to head next... Thanks for watching!
Thank you for filming and publishing these. Its a treat as someone from Holland to see the beautiufl blue skies and green trees now that its been raining for months. You motivate me to take a trip like this myself.
I am so glad to see you you back Susanna and watch the beginning of your adventure. What brilliant timing! Just right to watch while reflecting on my (much more low key ) past year ready to make plans for the new . My mantra is 'be more Susanna' ! You truly are an inspiration.
Glad to see you're back - somehow your films had dropped off my RU-vid recommendations, and I was worried that you'd taken ill again. I'm now spending a rainy Bank Holiday Monday binge watching the whole trip. 😊
Brilliant to hear from you Susanna. Take care of that knee. Looking forward to hearing from you through 2024 and beyond. Happy New Year xx from Rochdale.
What I have learned from my travels is that when we forget maps and see every time we are lost, we are actually on the path that life sends us on. Its allowing for life to run freely. My best experiences came from that..... so inspirational Susanna!
This summer I rode across Europe as well, and am having trouble remembering just how wonderful it was in this miserable British January weather we're having. Thank you for this wonderful travelogue, I can almost feel the sun shining on my face again and the wind beneath my wheels.
Always good to see you cycling and smile even when driving wrong. When 'cycling by numbers' we always try to remember only the last digit of the two. Works well as long as there are no waypoints with the same last digit on a junction. In that case we get off our tandem and reward ourselves with a little break and a look at the map.
Susanne! You look radiant and full of energy, very good for the upcoming new year. I saw a few structures that I loved, like the church bell tower. Did the donkey look adorable or was it a dwarf horse? and the camping areas full of peace. Today I was in my kitchen grinding coffee to take the last sip before going to sleep and, believe it or not, I thought about your stops in the countryside to enjoy a coffee. Then when I looked at your channel you had posted a new video. It's good that you know you're fine. A warm hug from the tropics!!👋🏼 Feliz año nuevo!!🎉🍾🥂
Hi Carmen!! thanks for writing! oh sounds lovely grinding fresh coffee there, glad to know you are also someone who thinks it is nice to drink coffee before bed haha. Happy New Year to you and yours!
The same for you and your entire family and long life for your father!! Since I was little, my grandmother got us used to drinking coffee before going to sleep and we slept like little angels😂🤣. You know I want to send you coffee from PR but I don't know where to send it. If you privately send me a provisional address, I will be happy to send you coffee from my island. Or give me some ideas and we'll do it as you say! Que estés bien y un fuerte abraso tropical😉🥂
here is a meter of snow outside, the Irish stew is simmering on the hob and there is a new video from Susanna to watch. A very nice way to go sliding into the New Year (Guten Rutsch!) as we say here. Susanna, I wish you and your husband all the very best for 2024 and look forward to seeing many more of your adventures. 🇮🇪 + 🇨🇭
So pleased to see you back on the bike and looking so well. A real boost to my mood as I've been a bit down as my wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She's due an operation in Feb and afterwards she'll be told what they find and what further treatment she'll need. Were ignoring it at the moment and planning bike holidays for 2024. Wishing you a happy new year and continuing recovery. Thanks for your efforts on the videos, I enjoy every one.👍
Aw Colin thank you for writing. I am so sorry to hear this. Bravo you and your wife for focusing on what you enjoy. You are strong to do that. God it so reminds me of me, planning and stuff - I had my Eurostar ticket, and I was literally packing to set off... and then as all the cancer scans and tests and an operation etc etc unfolded, at each setback I kept moving the ticket to Amsterdam back and back... I had maps all over the sofa through it all and was planning things and dreaming kind all the time, well not all of the time cos sometimes I was just sad and afriad and black, not gonna lie, but a lot. When I burst out on my bike just for those little rides I did during chemo near London omg it felt so great. Cycling and being outside made things so much better. I treasure it all so much. Being able to do things. Anyway. I hope you and your wife are having a nice morning and I hope it is sunny where you are and send best wishes to you both xxx
Very sorry to hear about your wife’s breast cancer diagnosis Colin. Wishing you both well as you embark on the next steps of the journey with it all. May you both have lots of lovely adventures in 2024 with whatever unfolds. Sending you both love from Dublin! ❤
Many thanks for your really great travel videos with the Brompton. Now that I've also got myself a Brompton, I'm rediscovering slow travel. Stay healthy!
She was there before summer (when the Elder trees were blooming). I know those campsites (Natuurkampeerterreinen), they can be busy during summer holidays.
Aw thank you for watching, and writing such a lovely comment BTW I just watched your gorgeous film Penintensya Road to Aparri ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_dES7qVN66E.html&authuser=0 and it is beautiful... I just love how all over the world, we are on bikes enjoying life and friends and the places where we live, you and your friends in the Philippines are awesome, remember that 🚲😎
Lovely video as usual Susanna! Rather sadly I was delighted to learn that I am not the only one to head off in the wrong direction 😅 Happy new year to you and yours 🥂
I've did the same journey twice, along approx the same route. The Netherlands are a delight, I found the cycle system easy to navigate by writing down the nodes that I had to go thro, notebook and pen, required. I accessed Friesland by the causeway further North, both times, its a classic. Good to hear from you again, cycling is the best therapy for all of lifes horrors.
Glad you liked my country. For people who want to use the causeway in future, it’s been closed to cyclists unfortunately, because of renovations. It will be reopened, so make sure to do your research:)
Hi Susanna, how good it is to see you back in action, the Dutch countryside looks lovely it really does lend itself to cycling, looking forward to the next episode,so for now here’s wishing you a very happy new year, atb Colin P,👍
Wonderful ride Susanna! Will be watching these with extra attention as your route will be on my way to visit Scandinavia in the summer! Looking forward to the next ones. All the best.
Susanna, Thank you for sharing these wonderful gems with us. Your videos never cease to fill me with joy. It reminds me that life is beautiful. I'm excited to get back into bikepacking again this year!
Just discovered your videos, I’ve got two Brompton’s and my dream is to tour on one of them ! Feel totally inspired watching you on your travels, such lovely chilled films to watch and good to see a real version of touring were it doesn’t always go perfectly. Please keep making more films of your adventures 🙏🏼
I live in Köln and am a Brit. Completely admire you have just found your channel. I’ve cycled sections of the Rhein cycle path with friends. It more leisurely three middle aged men and a stop for lunch, but bit by bit we’ll cover more of it. Bravo!
oh that sounds good, leisurely with lunches, good for you! I am working on the Germany film now, coming soon. By the way, I found that in Germany campsites were few and far between, along the route I was on in north Germany. Wonder what your experience is
You win a gold medal for looking so fresh for a 430am start ! Fab video and now even more excited that there is a sequel! So glad to see you back on the small wheels again - ride well :-)
I really enjoyed this video! And I had to laugh when you got lost in the streets of Amsterdam, because I once got "stuck in a roundabout" when I was there by car. For around two hours, no matter which route we took, we always ended up in that same roundabout, it was unbelievable 😀 I look forward to more videos from you!
Killin me Susanna😂 I did a similar tour in the Netherlands last Summer and had the exact same issues getting lost on the routes! I would go half a km down and start looking for the sign. Then stop and pull out phone. It's not just you! And you are making videos the entire time. Bravo!
Happy New Year, Susanne. Thank you for your videos, so lovely and inspirational. Just love your outlook on life and your positiveness. keep posting and here's to the the best of life for 2024. But only 3 gears! Gosh I struggle with 21!
great video. Have watched almost all of your adventures now and I'm looking forward to your next instalment of the trip back to Sweden. Keep cycling and sharing your adventures!
