Watching Capt. Laura for months has been a great inspiration to this old sailor. She shows the world that it's OK to be who you are, no matter who you are. You don't have to conform to the norms of society. And that if you don't chase your dream you will never realize it. I learned from her that no one is too young, old, or poor to sail. I post a lot on her video's because she is such a great person. A huge asset to any business. A natural born winner.
So nice to see a young person follow their dream, I've had the same one for many years now and am about to really give it a try (but on the West Coast). It's taken over 80 years to accomplish it but age is only a figment of everyone else's imagination. Smooth sailing and more cat purr's.
These are the stupid comments that encourage these young people to be foolish and put themselves in unnecessary danger. With your age you should know better than to sound like a teenager who follows childish "dreams" but not RESPONSIBILITIES
@@jon_s Holy Moly, Jon! Back off. First, concerning "responsibilities." You do realize that Lauren's RU-vid Channel IS full-time employment. She has sponsors and donors, plus she has a charter operation. So I'm guessing she probably earns more than I do. And she has a fairly large sailboat to maintain. To me, this is a BIG chunk of responsibility. You are correct however, there is an element of danger in being alone on the ocean and I am sure there will be frightening times ahead. This said I would never tell anyone they should stop living to keep living. She's doing good, obviously well accomplished, and I say leave her alone to pursue her heart's desire.
great clip, I like your first mate am sure he pulls his weight in helping out.. My wife and I are full-time liveaboards in the South Pacific. We love the life style. all the best with your sailing adventures
Just started making plans for my first solo voyage. Leaving port at Pensacola and heading to the keys followed by The Bahamas. I’m 32 years old and couldn’t be more excited. Lots of lobster diving, fishing, and sailing. Awesome video.
RU-vid recommended this video this morning, which is excellent btw. I think your channel is about to grow a lot. I'm from Missouri too so I'm interested to see how somebody from Missouri makes the change to the cruising lifestyle, which is very much something I want to do. I can't wait to get caught up on the rest of your videos!
When I was 22 I owned an airplane and flew it all of the US. I thought I was adventurous but compared to taking on the ocean sailing by yourself is 10x more than what I did. How I marvel at your fearlessness, determination and total sense of adventure. Continued safe sailing.
Very excited to see someone your age with really good sailing skills. I’m sure the electrical issues will get resolved. My wife and I while watching the video every time we saw the cat there was a big “Awww” from us. Best of luck on your adventures and your channel. Cheers
It makes me happy to watch you following your dreams. I really like how you manage to smile through the downs as well as the ups of boat life. Keep up the great videos. ❤
Great channel. I'd love to see more of the sequence regarding unfurling sails, using the winch and when. Also, the autopilot and how that works. Basically anything and everying you can put on camera when it comes to the functional mechanics of sailing. I'm sooo interested! Thank you!
Hello Lauren. Its my first time viewing your channel. I follow a few Boating and yacht channels but only two sailing. It was refreshing to see a down to earth person setting off on thier adventures. You seem to be a brave hearted and knowledgeable sailor learning as you go. Thank you for inviting us alongside! Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Blue Skys, Fair Seas and Tailwinds. Hello from St. Louis Missouri.
Came across your channel late yesterday, have finally caught up to your current release, loved seeing you handle all the trials with your engine, water maker, solar issues, no tantrums just disappointment in your face. Hope you get the last issues corrected easily and you can finally just sail. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your experiences. Take care, be safe and sail on.
I'm glad that I found your channel. I've been researching for several years and this is what I plan to do within 3 years. I'm 30 and finishing up my Bachelors in Florida as well. This is encouraging content. Maybe we'll cross paths some day. Cheers!
Hi Lauren, just keep doing what you do best. It is nice to see such a natural approach to your episodes, u like some of the other sailing channels where it is one big advert which is a major turn off. Your a pretty girl, a brave girl and you seems as beautiful on the inside as you do on the outside. Thank you for a nice episode x
Love this episode!!! I would say keep doing what your doing - good mixture of different activities to keep the video interesting - good variety of different tasks during the day - love it!
Sailing alone around the ocean is really insane!! But im enjoying wathcing this video having your lovely cat with you. Im so proud of you lauen, keep it up and xplore the world! God be with you! always
Just binged the entire series. And subbed. Looking forward to more adventures and trial. Never thought about Rudders having bearing, now we know they can go bad! I saw that water manafold and said it needs to be replaced. Great way to "build" a new one! Owning a boat means knowing how to work on a boat.
Be safe and enjoy the trip, you will be on my daily prayers. I love the solos, sailing, biking, hiking, flying, etc, i see coffee, ocean, a book and listening good music…. Love it all… thanks for sharing.
You are living my dream! I am so so happy for you! I have told a few people of this dream of mine and everyone has said it cant be done, so its so wonderful to see a solo female sailor...I love seeing this all through your eyes. I think it was a great episode, just keep being you. Enjoy your amazing life and just keep documenting it. Hello from Australia!
You’re so freaking cool. I love your chill vibe. At first I couldn’t decide whether you were foolish and naïve or confident But then seeing your understanding of Sailing and all the systems on your vessel I realized you Knew what was going on and we’re completely in control. Have fun!
Your Channel just came up on my RU-vid this morning 🌄 *WOW 😳 I'M SUBSCRIBING BECAUSE I'M SO IMPRESSED JUST YOU AND YOUR CAT JUST SAILED FROM FLORIDA TO BAHAMAS ALONE!!!👍👍👍☺️* When I was younger, I was much the same, taking adventures alone. *GOOD FOR YOU*
Amazeballs! Gratz to you and your fluffy friend on a safe crossing. Just bought my first sailboat 2 weeks ago and plan on crossing next winter. looking foward to more of your videos.
Great video. Made my day!! Thanks for taking the doldrums out of my routine day as a pediatrician and making me think about the possible!! I've never sailed but always dreamed of doing it. All my best. Dr Steve
Hi Dr. Steve, sailing is a fantastic way to relax and connect with nature. I can't recommend it highly enough for staying mentally/emotionally fit. A really good way to start sailing is to take lessons at a local sailing club and also rent their boats. (Club memberships often include use of the boats too.) There are sailing clubs nearly everywhere, including places far inland like Colorado and Nebraska. They're not just on coasts and bays.
You might be the coolest young lady I have encountered. Tough, sweet, and very intelligent. Best of luck. Not sure what a patron is but I would like to support more. 😊
Love that your doing this. As a 20 year commercial fisherman (lobster) there's nothing like being in the water. 3rd episode I've seen and your quickly becoming my second favorite to "sailing zatara"..
Love your channel! By the way, make sure your batteries are OK - not bloating or leaking, corrosion on the terminals, ect. They may not be able to take or hold a charge if compromised. Many people neglect their batteries...
Your amazing lady, it takes a lot of confidence and guts to go solo, so much to do and learn, l have nothing but praise for you and much love from England . YOUR A STAR
Watching from nz , great to see the confidence you have and show , , i always enjoy the ladies showing the way , and that sailing is a real thing and can be enjoyed by just about everyone
Lauren, I have just binge watched all your videos. You are one impressive young lady. Your fortitude and determination and of course immense hard work is a tribute to you. What is your story, how did you acquire so much knowledge and sailing ability, how did you acquire your boat etc? I guess you are early/mid 20’s, I have daughters of a similar age, one loves sailing sadly the other not. I personally really enjoy the work projects as much as the actual sailing. Stay safe.
Hi Lauren, Just been watching all your episodes up to this one and its great to see how you handled all the issues. Not sure what camera your using but my only advice would be to get a better mic something that handles wind better than your current one as the wind does wash out your voice alot if your talking. It's great to see how your cat is handling being on water too.
It's been so long I don't get hooked to a video like it happened now. Your video was awesome, you are very inspiring. I'll definitely follow your journey from now on. Thanks for sharing and all the best for you two!
That's funny, I have a dog(Greyhound) and cat, I was going to give my dog away when I go sailing, but keep my cat, as a kid I lived on a boat and we had a cat
Amazing sail - glad to see you made it across just fine despite battery charging issues. For a moment I thought you're going to turn around. Good luck!!!
Love to see the ins and outs of the journey. A solo sailors way of passage making. Check ins, sail outside from, and anchor too destinations. Pros and cons of each place. 😊
Lauren if you come back to Florida and need a boat slip, we have an extra one, we are in Key Largo, Florida. The slip has water and electric hookups and we have an onsite dumpsite for your grey and black water holding tanks. This slip is yours for as long as you need at no charge to you. This is a huge condo/ boating community in Key Largo, we have a huge pool, on site showers, laundry facility. tiki bar with live music on the weekends. Very strong internet signal at each slip. Shopping is very close. Me and my wife were living aboard our Privilege 615 catamaran sailboat in Key West for 8 years, but my wife wanted a change so we bought a condo here and we are really enjoying it. We didn't quit sailing, we just downsized, our new boat is a 2020 Corsair 880 Sport Trimaran, it's wicked fast and a blast to sail....
Way to go Lauren! Doing what makes you happiest, that's what's important, and the cat is safe, no worries. I just discovered your channel, very cool, thanks for sharing this adventure!
Just found you and I’ve enjoyed watching this episode.your cat is awesome too, I had one that looked a lot like him.I hope you can keep doing many more videos.Be super careful out on that boat all alone.I always like to see the water going while you sail and behind the boat too,you were really clipping along.Just be yourself and be real, like your calmness and your voice is pleasing to listen to.I’m a cat lover so that will add to me watching you two 👍Thanks for sharing your life and adventures with us !!!
Imam full of admiration for you, doing it all alone, congrats! No advices needed on what i want to see, keep on going like you are, i love it. Ofcourse subscribed. Fair winds!👍❤️
❤ you are a true ROCKSTAR! Very inspiring ~ I just found your channel here because I’m interested in taking off on a solo adventure like this myself! Wish I still had my cat Leo with me… Looks just like your cat! ✨🐈⬛⛵️But he’s always sailing with me in heaven! Thanks again for sharing! Happy Sails!❤
Amazing, one brave soul, free spirit, when I look at the great ocean and how it's so overwhelming, makes me think of the greatness and mighty power of God!!!
😮😮😮❤❤❤❤❤That’s my home town NASSAU!! I really hope you had a great time. And hope you got that CONCH SALAD. Wow you really made me miss home. But glad you did 🎉
You are a great role model for all the people out there who have dreams of owning and living on a sailboat ⛵️ and the incredible amount of work and money that it takes you've got yourself another subscriber and probably patreon keep up the beautiful smile and cheerful attitude and always stay safe
Having Sailed the Caribbean sea as a youngster, I have a hands on appreciation for what you are doing. I am 64 yrs now and all I have to say is, enjoy the moment... It goes by fast.. And be safe. And what ever you do, don't assume anything. It is dangerous on the water.. JCS
Just saw this video. How wonderful it is to see you pursue your dreams with such enjoyment and confidence. I am now a subscriber and look forward to catching up on your channel. Thank you for sharing.
I think it's amazing you are sailing by yourself. But I hope you get all of the issues fixed on your boat before you start sailing again. Be safe. Your twin sister is on Expedition Evans. .looking forward to following on your journey.
Living my dream! You are just missing the Rottweiler pup! I will be there soon!! Enjoy and thank you for sharing and showing people they can also live dreams !!
Hello, I'm from Venezuela, coincidentally today I came across your video and I liked it a lot. Your love for the sea, travel, sailing, the cat. I love what you do and from today I will follow you and see your content. Kisses from Venezuela 😘😘🤗🤗😇😇
Good for you! My retirement is a 45 footer. I've sailed all over the GoM and out to the Exumas. Stay safe and may you always have a breeze at your back!
WOW!!!! Good for you Lauren!! U. R. So confident in what you're doing. I love your cat 🐈 he looks like my cat teddy. The same color markings and my cat is a tabby. U. Rock Lauren 🤟
Lauren, congrats on making the crossing. You may know this but just in case. When making longer passages, be sure and strap your dingy down so that it can't swing with the waves. If seas build up, it can chafe on the davits or the back of the boat and damage your tubes. Also, be sure and remove the plug when you hang it on the davit. Rain can fill it up and damage your davit. I learned that one the hard way.
You are the best I'm so glad I came across you channel.you doing what I want to...happy sailing i hope everything turns out okay on your future sail and channel..stay safe...
