This is what a great man of God is ,he just clarified what it means for women to cover their heads,not any correction about the church in particular,moreso he already noticed or probably there had been a lot of complaints about overzealous ushers In deeper life and their holier than thou attitudes,he should be applauded for not concealing it and blurting out the truth, meaning he respects God more than what criticism humans has to offer. This is a balanced message! Mahatma Ghandi was attracted to Christianity by the character of Christ but an usher turned him back at the door! That was how we lost such a great soul to Hinduism. Imagine the impact it would have had on India today if the usher had shown him some love and welcomed him the way he was.

The teaching is very clear. This issue came up in 1992. There is no ambiguity in the message. The message is that when you are born again, as a lady you know that you must cover your head while praying or prophesying. But, it is not necessary when you are in your house, or market, or school, or place of work to cover. But even if you are in your office and you want to pray, you must cover your head.

Yes, there's a lot of hypocrisy amongst christian sisters because of the way they dress when they are in the church. But this does not mean that those who have already known the truth about dressing should not dress modestly as godly christians. I am highly blessed by this message.

According to 1Cor 11 the Bible is very clear that Hair is given as a covering not a hat or a scarf. Wonder how people miss such simple scriptures

I think you were quite harsh to say that he was addressing "hypocrisy" in Deeper Life. It is not hypocrisy to ask a lady to cover her head before entering into church, it is rather obedience to the Word of God. The Word of God admonishes female believers not to appear in the Presence of God with their heads uncovered. At a point in this video, during 4:01 to 4:17, Pastor Kumuyi said that a sister who is born again knows that she should cover her head when she comes into the church. So the Man of God is not encouraging the unscriptural practice of going to church with head uncovered. What he is simply counseling us against is the idea of rushing to cover a female's head as she enters the church without knowing whether or not she is born again. We should let her enter the church just as she is. After she listens to sermons and becomes born again, when next she wants to enter Church she will cover her head. Salvation first before adherence to the commandments of God. We should not try to make them adhere to God's Commandment of head covering when we don't even know if they are already saved or not. That is the Man's point. Don't misinterpret his message, please. And it is quite unchristian of you to refer to Deeper Life as hypocrites just because you do not share our religious beliefs. We are all members of One Body in Christ regardless of denomination. Let there be unity in the Body of Christ.

its painful because, many of this ideas originally was not from pastor Kumuyi, it was over sabi leaders in that church that act like they know it all. and because of this many are made to belief that dressing in a certain way is what equates to holiness. this same people are malicious, can't even follow peace with others, etc but they believe dressing is the ticket to heaven, that mentality alone is a shame and its of the devil. And when someone leaves the church, they see you as a sinner, how on earth does leaving a church makes you a sinner? infact when we think deep on many of this things, we realize how satan has cheated the body of christ to focus on the things that are not what matters. what then, is the difference between us and the scribes and pharises of the bible days?

This is the reason why it is dangerous to tell people to dress in a particular way without thoroughly educating them about the spiritual power behind such a doctrine. Many people in Deeper Life Bible Church do not know the significance of the Women’s head coverings. The great shaking has begun, and many shall fall away from sound and precise spiritual truths. Why are many people excited that Pastor WF Kumuyi is now changing some of Deeper Life’s doctrines? He is obviously bowing to pressure from within and from outside the church. .Pastor Kumuyi is not God. People should go and study their Bibles and get to meet with God, one on one. I pity this generation.

Pastor WF Kumuyi is correcting a lot of erroneous believes and practices amongst his followers due to religiousity , hypocrisy and ignorance of proper application of the Word of God. The commandment of God stands and it's unchanging even if man changes. Headcovering is not a recent doctrine. Saints like John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Jonathan Edwards, John Knox, the Apostle Paul, Martin Luther, etc., taught it. You have no excuse if you ignore and label it as hypocrisy, pretense or false teaching. You will meet God tomorrow and he will find you wanting if you disobey. I pray God remove every blindness from us all and save us for Heaven, Amen.

I attended a service many years back where the late Arch Bishop Benson Idahosa said he had told Daddy Kumuyi that he was one of problems of the body of Christ in Nigeria because of the doctrines of the Deeper Life Church. I am so happy that Papa Idahosa's admonition is yielding fruits. Thank God for the new mummy Kumuyi - it's obvious she is godly woman indeed. The Church of Jesus is matching on. Praise God!

He only said don't prevent unbelievers from entering church because they are not covered. It is so disheartening that some people are twisting this preaching to mean the man of God said head covering while praying does not matter. May God help and have mercy on us in Jesus name. I am not a Deeper Life Bible Church member. Born and grew up a Baptist married into the Redeemed Christian church of God. My confusion is why we Christians find it difficult to follow scripture and abide by sound doctrine. Is high time we stopped rationalizing the word of God

Dear Poster, this is not a recent caution or correction made by the pastor, this correction was made during the Global Crusade in Abuja , and that was even last year. he said all this during his teaching from the book of timothy, which talks about Modesty

In church the heads should be covered always.

I think we all need to examine our hearts and take the word of God in the right perspective. The church has NEVER taught sisters to cover their heads 24/7. I have been a member since I was a Youthouth. I was at the first Sunday service in 1982. Some members have always misunderstood and misapplied the word of God, according to their past religious background and personal preferences. As such people grow in the church heirachy, they tend to impose their preferences on others under their leadership. However, some sisters actually cover their heads most times because of dust and some others, to be able to pray anytime the Spirit lays something on their hearts to pray about without needing to look for a covering. When we have heart conversion, we neither disobey the word of the LORD, nor condemn the guiltless on matters of no eternal value. I believe this correction and others like it being made by our GS are necessary for those who wrongly think everything everybody does in Deeper Life is what the church teaches. For those who have always properly read their Bibles and understood it, the teachings are always the same.

I pray that this will give those of us who are coming up as Gospel Artists will be allowed to display our God gifted talents as women in Deeper Life Bible Church not only those who didn't cover hair please

Honestly I had the experience of this in kaduna a woman that I used to call mama junior invited me to the deeper life church as i came in about six persons were sitting where I sit then after prayers when I open my eyes it was only me left in d that long seat so I was discouraged after service I left never come back.

Actually he didn’t say that. What he said is that you should take care of your hair and should not be covered all the time while at home incase of head lice. I’m also member and he said this about three years ago so nobody should misinterpret.

The question is, did he mislead the member years ago with his doctrines that led the church on that path? all the same thank God that he is correcting himself. What he said does not mean that they should not be dressing well as they use to do, and he is not saying that dressing any how is good, but if you dress well make sure you are a good Christian not just dressing well, and that Bible did not say you should not be covering your hair as a lady but cover it while praying or preaching, not every time you will be covering your hair, understand, dressing well dose not make you a born again But being a born again makes you to be dressing well, Born again is like the tree then dressing well is the fruit
