I get tires mounted on the BC Forged MLEs that are going on the W210 Mercedes at my friend's shop Quick Everett's Garage, and finally find the motor I've been looking for to swap into the 1000SP!

IIRC, the AS 41 Case has less magnesium and higher aluminum content in the alloy than the OG 1600cc cases (used to be preferred for boring out for big cylinders/pistons), and is a "universal" replacement case, meaning it should have all of the bosses in place for bolting up the rear engine mounts utilized by Type 3's.

Let me correct myself: The AS-21/AS-41 case has MORE magnesium. It's a bit lighter weight, but considered stronger than the standard stock cases from back in the day.

You inspired me to get my "weird car" that I feel like I am one of like 5 people that like it haha and Ive also started my channel. I have to figure out a way to bag the front of this thing. I will hopefully use bag riders for that. Keep doing cool shit man. Stoked for you guys in 2024!!!!

I knew you would appreciate it. I wanted to bring it to rod run to share with you because we like all the same weird cars...k cars, escorts etc. But she was leaking some coolant and I didn't want to risk it. @@JohnLudwick

If you need more clearance I’d recommend type 3 specific dual carbs they are alot lower than the center mount . If you run that on a type 3 you have to cut the trunk access lid

teacher of mine used to own a auto union DKW 3=6 interesting engine , engineblock and head of the 896cc two-stroke engine was one piece , the crank and rods where a pressed together setup too so putting the pistons in from the bottom took some finagling

Man, that motor was a score! Certainly a better option than what I offered up, and closer too! Couldnt be the least bit upset, as much as I wanted to help you get that motor! Excited to see it in the Auto Union!!!

Also ask Chad D about his type 3 motor haha he bought my uncles square that was recently rebuild by a shop and boy oh boy did he find how much it wasn't rebuilt. But this is going to be a rad build dude!! Can't wait to see it under its own power.
