Was not expecting a Bernoulli drive, somehow it made it seem even more futuristic haha! Just like a bigger minidisc, shame it didn’t work properly though. The video card upgrade made a big difference, HD Windows has never looked this good. I know it isn’t the typical Mac content, but it’s still fun to take a look at these types of systems!

We bought those for corporate IT desktops since they were cheap and disposable.

on UT99, the command "timedemo 1" is what you want for an FPS counter for realsies. but what I think you have going on with that Compaq is just a lot of bad luck. I have a hunch that the BlueSCSI might be the thing causing your issues on that machine, doing something wonky to the chain. some SCSI drives are kind of sensitive to what it's sharing the chain with after all. I didn't get a good look but if there's two IDE channels, drop an IDE DiskOnModule of about 8GB on the primary one for boot. That should be more than enough oomph for 98 to run from with UT99 if you ever want to take it to run at a VCFed event with LAN party activities happening. Likewise, I'm going to be getting my Dell L1000r set up for just the same sort of abuse when I can get around to it.

UT is what made me build my first x86 PC (an Athlon 2800+ system)…because it wouldn’t install on the used 486 I had before, even though specs were met. And I hope you bought a WinRAR license! :-)

Weird question, but did you change the BIOS settings after installing the IDE SuperDisk? Often the PC won't recognize the correct capacity-reading capabilities of the drive without this. Recently I installed a 5.25" floppy 302k floppy drive in a circa-2000 Windows machine, and without changing the BIOS manually to tell the system it had such a drive installed, it wouldn't work correctly. I wonder if this "built-for-superdrive" PC had a BIOS setting specifically for the SuperDisk.

Maybe the Bernoulli is some sort of Unix format?

Maybe the issues with the Bernoulli are a SCSI termination thing?

You know...based on what was shown of UT, you might be a little CPU limited...The built-in ATI was DEFINITELY underpowered, but I feel like the Matrox was limited by the CPU...but it might just be me.
