I am in CA and sold my property in the same county but in a different city. I had to pay $10k but I did get it back when I filed my taxes. I'm not sure if my situation is the same as yours but maybe you can get some or all of it back as I did. Congratulations and good luck!

You are so right about the fees/payments at closing. When I bought my place and I saw all the extra payments, I said to my agent "looks like everybody gotta get paid. The city, the county, the state.....damn" 😡😡 Congratulations!!! It was a long road but you made it! 🙏🏾👏🏾💃🏾👏🏾

I understand you were not expecting to pay the Maryland tax, but your agent earned her fee.. She volunteered to reduce her fee(again), maybe she should have listened to the advice you gave Jay about knowing her worth .
@@herrpartyhisplan6548 I 100% agree with you. She should have told the agent there was no need to reduce her fee just because she is responsible for paying taxes. Taxes have nothing to do with the agent or her performance. Hopefully she looks out for her in some other way.

Congratulations! I bought my home in 2004 as well. How did you feel signing those closing papers after 18 years? For me, it was a sense of relief. This was a long journey but we made it. 🎊 🎉

Be careful…if you haven’t been filing taxes in MD but received rental income, the sale may trigger an audit because it proves you haven’t lived there but possibly had income.
Why should the 1st buyers agent reduce her rate because the appraisal was low? FHA lenders usually will not loan above market. Too bad for the 1st buyer who was probably a 1st time homeowner. Affordable housing is very hard to purchase. Congrats on the sell.
Clearly she didnt reduce her rate...and clearly they kept missing their closing date so not sure what your point is? The art of negotiation is real. They didnt want to negotiate so i stopped entertaining them.

Congratulations! That's a lot of taxes to pay, considering you already pay the access taxes on the property. I hope you're able to get someeof that money back when you file your taxes.
Congrats on the closing! The lawyer should always give the buyer a HUD sheet a day or two before closing to know the breakdown of your costs or any money coming back to you. This way you can prepare your payments before go to the closing. Also, if you want to offset your capital gains with a 1031 Exchange. You can may be able to purchase another similar property and if you buy it in a certain amount of time then you don't have to pay the taxes.
Yes...the first time we thought we were closing I received it ahead of the date...that is why I asked for it the second go round. No 1031 exchanges for me....I don't want anymore of America's properties...I think the exchange is just a cute way for them to keep people's money tied up in something as they chase the carrot dangling in front of their face...LoL
