FInally! On with the neck restoration beginning with the removal of the old flaky finish, using no sandpaper or chemistry. We have several operations to get through, starting with off with the old- happening today.
Great video!!!!!!! I kind of liked the character of the doll eyes, but I'm glad you put the old cam tuners back on. They are a part of banjo history & a lot of players actually prefer them over the Keith tuners, stating that they offer a more vintage sound. Whoever played "Salt Creek" on the low tuned banjo did an excellent job!!!!!!! All the banjo tracks sound great!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing this restoration with all the viewers!!!!!!!
18:06 I’m not sure how Gibson makes their headstock overlays on their banjos, but they would typically use a piece of dyed or lacquered holly veneer as an overlay on their guitars. On unbound headstocks, you can often see the lighter holly wood on the side.
