Hi Amanda! Looking great, amiga! For your blood draws, try drinking a little water that morning. Water doesn't affect most tests, as long as it's plain water. Hang your arm down while the phlebotomist gets your draw supplies ready and gently squeeze and open your fist. I drew blood and worked in a lab for 9 years, and these were tips I'd use with my hard draws. Also, never draw from a foot because it can cause dangerous clots. You're looking so healthy and strong! Keep it up! 🎉
Im going to try timing an hour prior to more water, I had the gallon the day before and had some in the AM but I didnt pay attention to how much. Part of the issue is my veins also roll when they try to stick them OR they get just a tiny amount of blood then it trickles out and hemolyzes, ugh! Thanks for the tips, someone else mentioned asked for a peds butterfly, ill try that too!
Hi!! I'm the crazy mom with twin spider monkey one year olds and I homeschool my 6 year old. Your vlogs have been my perfect mini mental breaks to clear dishes or fold laundry to. Thank you❤
Lol same but I have twins who are turning 16 today 😢❤😢❤😢 a son who turned 5 years old today . And three other kids ( 2,10,13) I work full time out of the house and homeschool as well. The only alone time I get is the shower where I'm usually listening to her or dr berry and neisha.
I dont know why that didnt even occur to me! Ive had issues even when I was a kid (looking back I had symptoms of scleroderma then) when I wasnt a lbs overweight. I also drink a TON of water the day before and right before to help but gosh it never does :x
Love watching those workouts ❤ you go girl thanks for the inspiration ❤. It's lovely to see you happier and being disciplined but gentle with yourself ❤
Amanda. I learned at a very young age that cheese is a binder. Found out by eating a large block of cheese over a weekend and then couldn't go for like a week.
It contains a morphine like substance and morphine can cause constipation. I also have issues when I eat cheese. I recently stopped eating it and lost my last 4kgs which brought me to what I weighed in the early 1980s.
I so can relate to what you said about guilt related to food or to something your supposed to do an don’t. I’m doing Ketovore. I exercise daily an I don’t know things just click now. For years I self sabotaged a the cycle of guilt was constant. Now I made what I do my lifestyle an I enjoy exercising an being active but I just love feeling strong and healthy. Thx Amanda watching you has inspired me. PS you are looking fabulous
AWw Thanks Anne! Looking at things like a lifestyle, not a "im going to temporarily do this but will go back to the way things were after" approach makes it SO much easier!!
Hi Amanda! I watched and subscribed when you first started and I’m glad to see that you’re still determined. You’re looking great and your attitude is infectious. I just restarted on carnivore after what had been 3 successful months followed by over a year of false starts getting back on. Today is day 3. Yet, I feel so committed. The food-voice in my head isn’t as strong. I tell it to go away, redirect it, rely on Jesus as my higher power, and I’ve also been drinking a lot more water. I haven’t been measuring, maybe I will. Also, I need to get out there and exercise. I’m a resistance trainer, not so much into cardio. My ankles are weak, makes it hard to walk long distances, and I recently recovered from a partial tear of the gastric tendon in my ankle. That made things hard for a while. And now that tendon is tight. I only have 3 veins in my left arm that work for blood draws. And I used to be a fainter 😂. My veins only roll when I’m anxious, so I had to learn to sit still and be patient with the procedure. That doesn’t sound like your problem. There were a lot of good suggestions here: pediatric and butterfly needles, extra water and pumping your fist. I hope that you find a solution. Thanks for your vlog, keep going, woman, this is a great community!
I think the amount of water helping you feel better is fantastic! Sometimes I wonder if you’re eating enough food though! I know you’ve said that your breakfast keeps you full, but it’s so easy under eat while feeling full on carnivore. ❤ That has stalled me before. And you’re SO active, much more so than me! 😅❤
Ive been struggling with eating more SO I ended up ordering some Equip animal based protein powder to help get more protein in. Im concerned with all the movement and weight lifting I am harming myself not having enough building blocks in my (protein)
@@CarnivorousMe1 I have been using that as well recently! It’s been super helpful & I’m so glad you’re trying that! I’ve had zero issues from that product, I’m very pleased with it. I ordered their collagen but it has t arrived yet- that could be useful too since it has a decent amount of protein. Heck, even just one more egg in the morning could help also. You’re doing an amazing job, seriously! 🤩
Amanda I have the same issue with my veins, they roll and are deep!! I find that the really experienced ones do it best so I always Ask for the one who is the best drawing blood and use the butterfly needle,,it makes a huge difference!! Good luck❤️
I have similar problems with my blood draws. I had one done a couple weeks ago that took three sticks - the last one being in my hand as well. Then I had to have a thyroid panel done about a week later. They just went right to the hand since they only needed one vial. No fun! But I can't stand fishing - they'd have to peel me off the ceiling!
Ditto! I literally clinch my teeth and squeeze the crud out of the lab chair with my other arm when they start fishing! The absolute WORST is when they saw in and out ugh! Others have mentioned asking for pediatric butterfly, they normally use a butterfly (not a peds one though), im going to try that next time and hopefully it works. Maybe give a try too?!
Yes, I am a very difficult draw. I hate it when they have to 'fish' for a vein. We have tried many different methods. What seems to work some times is guzzling two bottles of water an hour before the lab draw.
I drank the gallon the day before and I had some in the AM but next time ill try timing an hour before too. The fishing is the WORST, i dont like needles but dear lord sometimes I have to keep my hand from flying up to smack them when they are doing it :X
Amanda, I totally get the vein thing. My mom had the same problem. They are just tiny veins that roll every time you try and get blood. Every time she needed a blodod draw I would cringe because I ew what a struggle it would be. Good luck as it was just a lifelong thing for her.
you are doing amazing!! I had blood drawn today she did not tell me to make a fist just straighten your arm~ first time that has happened ~ the techs used to have so much trouble getting my blood but this past 2 years its been good and I do drink water that morning
Great vid! Wow! You look great! Btw I have tiny veins too my whole life (60 now). Drink lots of water before labs to plumb up your veins as much as possible, and ask them to use a pediatric butterfly needle, it will get it every time. I always tell them first thing and ask for the pediatric needle, otherwise they poke me to death, and then the doctor usually ends up getting my blood in one time successfully.
Ooo They use butterflies but ive never asked for a peds one, ill do that next time! I drank an entire gallon the day before and some in the AM, it NEVER seems to work for me. My dang veins roll and they like to go "fishing" for them :X
Looking great! Great deadlifts. I love lifting weights. I am jealous that you can do lunges. I have weird joints and my feet point out so it is to hard to do lunges. I can squat though deep with heavy weight.
One difficult blood draw patient I had, would avoid taking her bp medication on the am of her blood draw, it definitely helped getting the blood on the first stick. Drinking water immediately before a blood draw, doesn’t really help.. that goes to the bladder, drink more water the day before. Sorry for the stress:(
If you are allowed olive oil, one tablespoon every morning and one every evening will help with many things. Less itchy dry skin, less hunger, less acne, and also.... Less constipation! 😊 Dr. Pal (on RU-vid) told me, and it works.
Im finding a bit more lean is going to be better, I ordered some animal based protein powder that I am excited about to up protein without increasing my fat!
Watching Dr. Berry's live...they just had TWENTY VIALS of blood drawn !!! $4000 worth of testing!!! Can't wait to hear what their results are. Imagine you getting 20 vials!! Back of the hand draws are awful. Could you 'request' a really special lab tech to do your draws?? Ummm, maybe someone who does children?? Prior to a surgery the surgical nurse even numbed near a vein on the back of my hands...did both hands...I am an old lady with obvious veins and they slip around. Anesthesiologist came in and told me to 'cross your ankles' and zoop she slipped the needle on the outer edge of my hand/wrist area (by wrist bone)...didn't feel a thing.
My veins are small so they say. Using pediatric needles works best. I end up having to go in my hand too. It's worst when you have to fast and abstain from water before testing. Dehydration makes it worse
I thought there was a recommendation to drink 50% of your body weight in water. They say the hard, pellet poop is a sign of dehydration. It makes sense you need different amounts of water depending on activity and body weight. Not everyone needs the same amount.
Just a comment on your commenting/responding, Amanda... It seems to me that you have learned so much on this journey. Not just diet and exercise (which I am equating with new lifestyle!) but also how to listen to your body, respond, research and process the information. AND how to graciously respond to, I trust, well intentioned "advice/counsel". Your antidepressant withdrawal issues had that good outcome: you no longer are as likely to be pressured into a course of action based on the comments section. You know to stand your ground, pause and consider and then plan a course based on your best knowledge of yourself and the science/mechanics/wisdom you have at the time, and being able to adjust FOR YOURSELF, though maybe with the help of those who know you best/well like Scott and whoever is your trusted healthcare provider (provider just seems the wrong moniker there, but you know what I mean, I trust!). But still responding to your comments section, not defensively or snarkily, but graciously. Well done! It is a joy to watch your physical changes as you "firm up" but also to see your resolve, your confidence "firm up" without getting "hard". I applaud you! Keep living those examples you are setting (that was not to give you more pressure! Meant to encourage you that, as you live it, you ARE setting examples, and good ones. Thank you!) Journey on, and thanks for taking us along. Blessings!
I drink so much water so they can see the veins, then when the water helped, it was like my vein was on fire when they drew blood out. Too much homocysteine? I do not like having blood drawn. Have to go in soon. Yuck🤢 love ya! Have a great day.
If people were intended to go carnivore, why did God create such amazing things to eat like fruits and vegetables?? I am not trying to be snarky, I just want to know.😕
