Truly, Skall might be the only person that can talk mildly enthusiastically to me about a water bottle and at the same time make me burst out laughing.
But what is the best magical enchantment for a water bottle? Is it more suited for one or two handed use? Where is the point of balance and center of percussion? Is it resistant to cuts or thrusts? What is the optimal capacity to weight ratio in a zombie apocalypse scenario? There are so many questions left unanswered!
For hot drinks, the Zojirushi bottle (also on Amazon) is worth every penny. It's extremely expensive, but it lives up to the cost; it insulates so well that coffee poured into it at 7:30 am is still hot at 4:30 pm, and its lock is so good that it never leaks in a bag, no matter how much it's tossed around. It disassembles for easy cleaning up top, stainless steel lining, etc. (No, I'm not an employee of Zojirushi, I just went through a lot of coffee mugs trying to find one I could toss in my messenger bag without worrying about leaks.)
Interesting enough i have had a coleman insulated coffee cup for years and the mouth mechanism is the same lol. Colemans has always made really good stuff in regards to camping gear.
For backpacking, i use a primus aluminium flask (you'll find it in orange, green and grey) its very very light and durable. It also has a big neck so you can fill and clean it easily and it has NEVER leaked once, could not recommend it more if you want a simpler and/or lighter bottle for hiking, backpacking and all that stuff. Oh, and i have the 1 liter bottles, so i cant say anything about the smaller ones but i guess they'll be the same
thanks for showing this Skall, I wasnt actively in the market for a bottle but I have been looking for a good one for literally years. I will definitely be picking up two on the back of this review haha
Great vid Skall, I think you could've definitely done better though, you didn't mention how much the bottle weighed or compared it to any of your other non-plastic bottles directly. If the bottle altered the taste of the water at all compared to glass, so on. Coleman could do better by including a glass slit that shows how much of the contents are left in the bottle, especially for that price.. I live in the UK so bottles with that many nooks and crannies on the cap are notorious for breeding mold that is difficult to clean off, it's not just about cleaning the mouth piece. Which is why I currently have an all glass bottle with a plastic screw on cap, nice and fast to clean, solid glass is sturdy for normal everyday use and you can see the contents/how much water is left, doesn't leak even in a bag because the threading is well mad and long. Obviously glass doesn't alter the water's taste, which is a big thing for me personally. Only drawback is that it probably weighs a lot more than this Coleman. However it does cost a tenth of the price and fits a lot better in an office space.
Boa Drago u know u might just be the saddest person I have ever encountered... 3 paragraphs on the effectiveness of water bottles and... to top it all off.... an anime profile pic! *sigh*
Weird. Bottles very similar to that one have been pretty standard in Norway for some time. The military even adopted them some years ago and everybody seems to have them.
Well the cap and mouth piece still have plastic components, so technically one could worry about BPA and stuff there as well. But Coleman is a reputable manufacturer as far as I know and they list it as 100% BPA free on the product site which should include the cap as well. It looks like a well designed cap, I'd probably have gone for this one over the klean canteen with the twisty cafe cap thing had I known it exists but either is more than fine to transport hot drinks in my opinion (oh and just plain cold water too I guess).
I hate metal bottles just because every time I drink out of one it makes the water taste weird but that's just me and yes I do wash the bottles I drink out of
The only way this could get any better would be if you were to get a pair of kittens. Your viewership would definitely expand, and I would watch the shit out of them.
Comes in 24 and 40oz models- roughly 570ml and 1.1litres. Yes, I had to use a conversion tool because who the heck measures water volume in ounces... o_0
The ounce is a curious case of being both a measure of volume and weight, and the right amount of cold water is both at once. That makes a pint = a pound; and a gallon = 8 pints or pounds, which is 1000 in binary; and a gallon is 128 ounces either way, or 10000000 in binary. In its own weird way, the old system does have a certain regular logic to it... The 24 and 40 ounce sizes have significance. If you start your hiking/camping day by taking a small portion of something fun from a "fifth" bottle (1/5 of a gallon, the 750ml bottle), you can put the rest in the 24 oz stainless steel size and not worry about breaking a glass bottle on the trail. If you take 2 such servings out of a "handle" bottle, a 1750ml, you can put enough in the 40oz stainless so that you and a friend are both fortified and safely stocked for a long day's travels and tasks, and still have something to come back to :)
@@animistchannel2983 Indeed, I commend you for putting far too much effort into that post. Anyway, personally speaking I've never had an issue reusing old 1litre squash bottles- they never leak so long as you put the cap on properly, and they're essentially free. This ~$30 bottle is rather nice I must admit, but it is $30 which is kinda crazy for a water bottle- I guess it depends how hardcore people are into their walking/hiking and such...
Well, i do like bottles that don't spill what's inside. Still, i wonder why it has so many locks, not that i'm gonna carry acid or my own pee inside it.
I was not in the market, but I have buy 3 bottles for water and only one is half decent, so this recommendation is certainly helpful, I'm going to buy one.
@@RyuFireheart i learned the hard way that a glass travel water container does not end well. can't imagine how it'll go with a double walled vacuum insulation.
The perfect water bottle can’t be metal or plastic..Metal leeches Zinc. Plastic leeches chemicals like estrogen..The perfect water bottle must be glass..
"It fits very comfortably in the mouth...and that's not something I ever expected to say on this channel." Was already trying so hard to ignore the potential innuendos and was doing quite well, up to that point. Then I totally lost it 😂😂😂
This is an excellent bottle, the seal is good enough to keep carbonated beverages fizzy, and will keep ice cubes even in a hot car all day. Unfortunately, I've had 2 of them and both lost their insulating ability over time. My only guess is that the vacuum chamber leaks, so no longer vacuum insulation. After that you immediately feel the outside surface cold and moisture condensing on the surface. Ice will be gone in an hour.
I agree that stainless steel is a great material for a water bottle, but I don't care for fancy lids on a normal water bottle. I'm quite happy with my Klean Kanteen with standard screw top.
Coleman's has been using the same basic steel thermos shape for like 40 years, it's just the cap that changes. Guess if you hit gold you don't move to a new mine.
Guy Ender I mean ik it’s purely trivial but if I hit gold I would expand and make a bigger mine to increase my gold yield, moving to a new mine or waiting for it to run dry is stupid :/
I've seen this "Push to Drink" mechanic a couple times now, but that "safety" would actually be quite usuable. I've never thought I'd be, somewhat, excited to buy a Coleman product, but I guess that's just where we are.
Nice bottle but too much going on in that lid for me. Easy to clean or not, it's still full of small square areas, tunnels and small structure parts for cleaning. I clean my bottle each use. For people that don't like a lid full of crevasses and mechanical parts, there is the Coleman Fuse which is the same bottle with a simple screw on lid. Even cheaper since the lid would be less money to manufacture.
i was looking for a review for this Coleman Freeflow before buying it.. I wanted to make sure that autoseal cap was easily cleanable (i had another type that wasn't).. you showed that :) Thanks for the review.
Hello! is there any way to lock the bottom to keep it opened so that you dont have to push it every time you want to drink? or it ony locks when it is closed? thanks a lot!
I have a stainless steel bottle that's seen me through thick and thin. It's been across the country, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back, is all dented but still indestructible. But even I'll admit, the cap sucks. For one, it just opens the whole thing up, making it easy to spill, and difficult to use while walking, to amusing results. Occasionally leaks if you don't screw it on just right. If only I could get a custom made cap for it. I've had it too long to get rid of it.
A custom fancy cap like this one would be hard, but machining a new cap should be possible by measuring the thread and diameters I guess? I've got no idea what skilled people would charge for that but you could always ask if it matters enough to you. Machining is kinda dark magic to me, I know enough that many things are possible but how to actually do it boggles my mind at times. And if you do want a fancy cap on it like this one, I suppose a conversion piece between bottle and cap isn't impossible either but would be even more expensive: two threads to put on it + you'd need your cap in addition to it.
A good bet might be amazon.co.uk at least until brexit happens when they might not be in the shared single market anymore. Shipping will still be somewhat high most likely but if its shipped from the UK probably significantly lower than from the US or Canada. The german .de one can work too at times but in my experience of not having an amazon in my country the .co.uk one usually has more items available and english product titles are a bit easier to search for. Another good option might be to check the websites of whatever outdoor activities stores you have and search for it there to cut back even more on shipping costs. Or potentially Coleman itself might list authorised resellers/distributors in your country, if so that would also be a good starting point.
