Out of all the ideas I've heard, the one that I think would have worked best would have been to give Powder a job. One that makes her feel like she's contributing in a meaningful way but that doesn't put her in direct harms way. Maybe pair her up with Little Man too, so she doesn't feel alone and abandoned.

I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the story, and what I assume will be a different perspective through an older Vi.

@@RhetoricalThrill The writers wrote Silco to catch people who live by Kneejerk reactions. This continues through out the whole show. Silco says something and hesitates... What he said by that point sounds really bad, and the kneejerk crowd are so busy with their own outburst over what he just said, they miss what he says next which places it in context taking his whole statement from maniacal and psychopathic to well thought out and reasonable, if sometimes ruthless. EP3 while on the crosswalk Vander falls for this trap right along with the kneejerk crowd. Vander says to him "what is all this (military build-up etc...) for?" Silco replies "For Respect..." and then hesitates, then continues "For opportunity, for all the things that the Topsiders have denied us" Vander only keyed into the first thing which sounds very selfish and scoffingly replies "You had my respect, the lanes respect, but that was never enough for you" Silco wasn't wanting the respect for HIMSELF, he wanted the Undercity's people to be respected by the Topsiders as equals and peers. So they could have the opportunity to experience what both societies have to offer. As it is the Topsiders can come experience what the Undercity has to offer, but not the other way around.

@@Hawkido I can't really go into details because that would be spoiler territory. I believe what Arcane does is masterfully showcasing how much of a difference framing and perspective make in telling a story. I'm one hundred percent sure that, if framed differently, Silco and Sevika could be the heroes and protagonists of a story. Don't we all know the typical tropes: The freedom fighters, fighting an oppressive regime that's denying them basic rights and treating them like second (or third) class citizens. Often killing the people left and right and that's alright with us because they're "bad guys", right? I mean their goals aren't so different from what Vi said in episode 2. She even proclaims that "Some day this city will respect us." - incidentally the same thing that Silco wants to achieve - and nobody thinks of her as a villain. And while Vander is not wrong when he says "Nobody wins in war.", just keep giving in and appeasement to the oppressors may be an even bigger loss than that you'd have to accept when fighting a war. All that being said, I don't think I'd go as far as calling them "The only major characters with conscious integrity in the whole show". There's some pretty questionable stuff Silco does as the show continues. Some of which I'm not sure is in the best interest of the Undercity. Also I can think of several other characters who act in good faith and with the best intentions (and who are sincere about them too). That's part of the beauty of the show: Every single character has very believable motivations for their actions and none of them are moustache twirling one-dimensional evil.

@@midnight1672 You misunderstand the meaning of integrity. The sword that keeps its edge while slicing the throat of an innocent has integrity, because it does not yield to external forces that would change it. Integrity does not mean GOOD, it means keeping an (ideal/characteristic/quality) against that which seeks to strip that (ideal/characteristic/quality) from the subject. Vi, Vander, Jayce, Victor, Heimerdinger, Ekko, the Chembarons, and Mel all give up on their ideals due to external forces. Ambessa's ideal is still hidden, and Powder doesn't really have an Ideal.

Sevika is an underrated character, imo. She's actually quite honorable too, even though she's arguably evil.

@@RhetoricalThrill yes x2 There are some details you're happy to recognize if you played the game before, things you might understand a little bit better or earlier. But it's really nothing important for the storyline, nothing that makes the experience of the show any less great. The game itself doesn't even have a story, it's a round based 5vs5 game where the goal is to just destroy the base of the opponents. You can pick different characters to play, and some - not all - of them are characters in the show. So you recognize the outfits, or the weapons they use (VI for example has a massive gauntlet in the game), the skills they have etc., but that's really all there is.

@@RhetoricalThrill I'd go as far as saying it actually improves your viewing experience if you do not know the background of the characters and go into it with no preconceptions. People who know the lore may not know how story progresses, but they kinda know how it ends. Plus: I'm not sure how willing Riot is to let beloved champions die, so not knowing who is and isn't a playable character in the game keeps the tension up. And since Arcane doesn't really treat champions special or gives them more attention, distinguishing between the two without knowing the lore isn't really possible.

Yeah she sounds like a 19th century person who when someone comes to her with information about new discoveries, she is like "Oh electricity? What a fad, we already have steam. Stupid inventors and their useless ideas, they should rather get a family and be useful and make more children for factories."

A very good point. I think a lot of the danger comes from science and tech that gets developed too quickly, people lose sight of safety over greed. But forward progress is required, even impossible to stop.

@Lodrigues1 I don’t think I’d go that far. But knowing humans and how they are, I guess I just have concerns for how such a thing as literal magic could be abused.

While you're absolutely correct that science has brought countless wonders and immense benefits to the modern world, she's also not wrong that many scientific advancements have swiftly been co-opted for harmful purposes. Some recent examples are the internet, social media, and AI. All three have yielded massive benefits to humanity, but all three have also quickly been used for dangerous/harmful purposes, too. All she was saying is that it's naive for them to assume their new inventions/advancements will ONLY be used to make the world a better place, and NOT also be used as weapons that make it worse.
