EXCELLENT!!! I’ve had the AIR 2 for over 2+ years and this little guy is really packing a punch as far as what it can do and it’s so small! No longer a professional image maker but a retired person hiking and mtn biking and sharing on social media.. this little guy is going to be fun. Thanks for the review. Mine arrives today !!!
Great video! I have the DJI mini 4 pro and Avata 2, both fantastic for different purpose!! The tracking and obstacle avoidance on the mini 4 pro is incredible!!
Nice demo. Informative & well presented. VERY impressed with the audio. Well done. Traded my Mini2 for a Mini 4 & these trix are what moved me to purchase.
Sweet, this is something I wish they would bring to the Air 3 as well. I know there is quite a few asking for it on the forums so we will see!! Good video Aldryn!! Awesom as always!!
Fantastic thanks i upgraded from the 3 pro due to the tracking features. I hike and in the mountains and trails those extra sensors are crucial less to worry about.
Another great video. I don’t think you hv done this yet??, but could you do a video on the Mini 4 Pro Precision Landing? Not just demo-ing the precision landing, but more importantly, explaining the tech that precison landing uses - such as the role of the camera, GPS, sensors etc and how it works together. Thks Bruce
Man this is freaking awesome you got some amazing shots, can you please put a little reel together and show us what it looked like on an up and coming video? Cheers so much for the demo 😊❤
Awesome video, very clear and super interesting. I’ve got the Mini 3 Pro and this is the first time I’m interested in upgrading 😅 but I have to say I find the active track too jittery, the camera tracks well but the drones movement is not smooth at all. I recorded myself in a bicycle for over a minute and struggled to find 5-10 smooth seconds to add to my video. I previously owned an Air 2S and the tracking was significantly better.
I can tell you from experience (I've had the mini 3 pro and now have air 3) the subject tracking is to jittery, I always use manual mode to get those super smooth shots
I've got the money for pro I've had it for about 2 months now and it's very smooth especially if you put it in cinema mode everything it does and transitions are very smooth not jittery at all
Thx for this helpful video tutorial on the 'Mini 4 Pro'. Would also be super if you gave some detailed instructions on how to set and handle the new WAYPOINT feature. This still sounds a little complicated to me.
That is a pretty cool feature! I noticed the recent update TO THE FLY APP is now adding Remote ID to all my drones, I even see it momentarily pop up on the Mini 3. I wonder if it is checking which battery I have installed. Have you seen this?
nice video! Hopefully, it comes to air3 soon! It seems like the new activetrack360 is similar to the POI mode since it can also fly around objects while tracking
Pretty nice video. What i love about the mini how quiet and easy to carry around. i sold my mini for avata and the fpv, but will get a other one eventually for when i go camping or other place the fpv is too loud for the crowd.
My Mini 4 Pro should be here tomorrow. Question, I have had some health issues and have not flown the Mavic 3, the first one, since last fall. Plan to take a trip and fly it and the new drone next week. Does the Mavic 3 now have some of these new features, and have you made a video about it?
Hi buddy. Great video. I have just sold my mini 2 and ordered the 4 pro straight away, which arrives Tuesday 😊. If i just want the drone to follow my motorbike at say 50m do i just put it into the air at the height and orientation I want then click track. Sorry if thats a silly question but i have never used tracking on a drone. Many thanks 👍
@@grossi46 You can forget all about the Mini 4 tracking you on your motorcycle. It may work for a couple seconds if you go really slow. But soon you'll find it way too annoying having to stop every time and/or ride back. Your (sold) Mini 2 would have done a much better job using follow-me (GPS) with Litchi or Maven. But if I'm wrong then let me know.
Thanks for the review on the new Mini 4. These new features are a game changer. Nice to see DJI app software catching up to what ive had to obtain elsewhere using 3rd paty apps such as Maven or Litchi. Why does DJI piecemeal the new tech a little at a time? Are these features things they forgot to add on the mini 3 that just came out last year? Are we to expect a Mini 5 next year? With only a 200 difference in price..why would anyone buy the 3? I actually feel sorry for the ones that bought the mini 3. I still sit here with my mini 2. Instead of upgrading each year I opted to use 3rd party apps , Mainly Maven to achieve these new functions that DJI is just coming out with. The mapping as well as tracking features have been available for Mini's for the last 3 years. Yet not with the Fly app or controllers. Too many restrictions within the fly app, and until they step up their programming I will just keep using the 2. The geofence is way off when using the fly app. At 10k on the side of a mountain, the fly app tells me it won't launch?...it does..and flies fine..just not using the fly app. Thanks again for another review. Any chance you can demo a area that actually has trees? ...all I see are bushes. ha ha.
I have pretty much watched all your reviews and value every one when making purchase decisions for my company. Any chance you have ever tested the 3rd party apps? Are you allowed to? or will DJI cut you off? Some of these 3rd party apps are allowing flight manipulation that far exceeds what dji is putting out. I just shake my head as all these new features as they are old tech.
I don’t use any third party apps. Nothing wrong with them, I just personally don’t use them. If I’m piloting my drone, I personally only want to trust the manufacturers app and not a third party.
Impressive feature as is the drones ability to avoid obstacles. Having said that, i noticed there is quite a visible contrast between the green bushes and the sun bleached grass. I'm curious how this drone will react if the grass was a similar shade of green to the bushes.
Just wanted to confirm firm as so many other drone owners mentioned about 120 max altitude in Europe, what is it in the US? Can confirm from the setting if its also 120 feet or higher , this is really critical to me , thanks for the detailed video
Always nervous about hitting a tree. 😅👍 Quick question, how do you get the "Trace" and "Parallel" options while you're tracking yourself? Kelly purchased one and we tried tracking him, but after hitting "Go" there are no further options. Is that a setting or maybe an update? (I thought he updated to the latest firmware.)
@@FlytPath Hmm. Maybe not. He did choose the radius distances in the settings, but I don't think he drew on the circles. We were stumped. We'll try that tomorrow. Thanks. 👍
What device is recording your audio in this video? I see that you're talking into the DJI wireless mic pinned to your shirt, but what is that audio actually recording to?
I don’t see why it can’t come over to the air 3 and Mavic 3. Hardware is the same I believe. Mostly just dependent on the 360 visions sensor’s. I would assume a future firmware update.
Good question, that huge remote is a problem for any sports tracking and has been ever since the Air was discontinued! Maybe they can use a beacon like Skydio at some point.
@@driewiel no GPS follow-me like the old Mavic 1 (and maybe others since ?) but doesn't it use GPS to see which way you're heading ? EDIT - yeah I checked a review and they clarify that it needs GPS (and movement) to position itself using the new "circles". So if you put the RC down it will likely stop moving.
@@Twobarpsi Active-track all looks nice. Great feature. Can do things follow-me can't. In realty hardly anyone uses it. Takes too much time like when you're on a bike trip. Can't watch the screen while riding. Try use the touchscreen on a bumpy road,. They all fly it manually for that reason. Less hassle. Simple GPS follow-me would be much more practical for many situations. My $135 drone (with unfortunately poor quality video) does a perfect job. So why not a $1000 DJI? People who tried GPS follow-me using Litchi/Maven/Dronelink much prefer it. DJI makes the best drones. Still doesn't make a DJI Mini a true hiker/biker selfie drone. It just ain't their thing.
I've had every mini including this one. Every single upgrade was pretty huge imo. Mini 2 brought adequate low light vision so you can actually fly at night, as well as dual band. Mini 3 pro is heaps quieter and faster, as well as obstacle avoidance and massive camera upgrades. Mini 4 pro, we both watched the same video I assume. I have loved mine for the 2 days I've had it
DJI should make a small RC (like the MC) to use for this option where is follows the RC and you can control the f'lypath' on a small screen same as you do now! (thank me later!) ¶ ; - )
Your vids are generally always good, I'm just not interested in another drone (and I do realise you you tubers financially gain from these vids via click rate etc so I mean no offence).. My mini 3pro and Mavic 3 CLASSIC are all I need and both very capable machines. I'm not into collecting every new drone DJI makes and thereby enriching the company.. I mean you tubers will ring out the same mantras for the Mini 5/6/7etc etc... Happy flying.
In the video you always move in a straight line, what happens when you move and turn in random directions, maybe there will be an error so youtubers don't talk about it
@@FlytPath If the camera is behind you, and you choose point F (Front) so that the camera moves in front of you, of course if you go straight the camera will do it, but if while the camera is moving towards point F you will If you turn back, will the camera move back according to the new identity?, or another example, you are letting the camera follow your left side, suddenly you turn right, so the camera will continue to move on its own. to keep your left direction or not, thank you for your information
All great. But useless. At least for me. Go on a bike trip 100 km a day. You're not gonna go through all the settings blah blah and spend an hour on a shot. Try use the touch screen riding a bike. Impossible. And with sensors in your head nobody is gonna rely on the obstacle avoidance. I myself much rather have a simple GPS follow-me drone you can put in front or next to you and use the sticks to fly it around obstacles. And of course it should update homepoint automatically so you don't have to race back like an idiot. It's ridiculous a $1000 DJI doesn't have GPS follow-me at the push of a button. What the hell are they thinking? Now don't get me wrong. DJI makes the best video drones in the world. But user friendly hiker/biker selfie drones they're not. That is why the new hover X1 is a big hit. It's so easy and quick. Can get 20 shots by the time you have the Mini 4 in the air.
@@FlytPath I'm not bashing DJI Mini drones. I would probably be very happy if I had one. It's just that for me the active-track seems way too complicated. People who had Litchi or Maven tend to prefer the much simpler follow-me. Of course with active-track you can do things you can't with follow-me. Such as follow other objects, circles etc. And maybe obstacle avoidance doesn't work with follow-me? That I don't know.
