This event was held in September of 2013 in San Fransisco. IMO this event was the pivotal moment when sailing entered the 21st century. A decade later, I feel very fortunate to have been there to see it all go down.
I had planned a trip up to watch in my McCovey Cove yak but they got so far behind so quick I got bummed then when they started racking wins I was afraid to go and jinx them, lol.
I like sailing and, as a matter of fact, I've owned a couple of small sailboats. I watched it on RU-vid and thought it was probably the greatest thing that I have ever seen. 🇺🇸
It’s funny how slow these things now look. I reckon an ocean-going Ultime could beat them around the course, as would an AC40, meanwhile the Sail GP boat are sooo much more nimble. The tech has advanced a LONG way
Why TNZ tacked early and not on Oracle face left the door open, then didn't go all the way to the boundary but tacked when Oracle tacked, bad air game over. There will be no 2nd chance
@@raypayne2228NZ as a country has won about as many times as the San Diego Yacht Club and a small fraction of number overall. Cute would be a better adjective.
Well isn’t it amazing that such a little cute country can keep winning /defending it then, don’t worry, I’m sure America will be relevant in it again….one day.
why are you even commenting then? It says right in the title which version of the cup this is. Why the fuck cares if they are catamarans, and yes there where foils if you actually watched. This cup brought foiling into the mainstream. Stupid comment by stupid people. Blocked.
no foils? Do I see something else than you? Those Cats definitely have foils. And it should be obvious to everybody that these are older recordings, as the description clearly says that its from 34th cup.
