Thank god. For some reason my teacher wasn’t telling me at all how to check for duplicates but kept emphasizing that you need to check for duplicates. I was just using ctrl f until I got fed up and went to RU-vid.
To finish the table, how would you remove the duplicates now?? with a formula or anything equivalent? Without deleting each row by selecting them particularly...
Thanks! I was wondering... since there's a one-step solution to remove duplicates if there was a one-step solution to identify them without deleting them... but this is close enough.
If there are duplicate names in random row...sagar 5 times ....dhiraj 7 times...faruk 9 times....and so on now i want to give sr no 1 to sagar ,dhiraj 2 and faruk 3....and so on ....how can we do sir
It is going to be a little complicated formula. You will need to count only Upto the current cell. So if sagar is in cell 5 . Then count sagar from 1 to 5 row. If sagar appears in cell 9, then the count will be from 1 to 9 row and so on and so forth. The range of counting is upto the current cell, so you fix top of the range and the bottom of the range changes for each cell
Hi, that is realy great and simple. but the data i work with is more complicated. if you can help and mak a vedio on this question: How can I find duplication in time-interval (overlapping time periods) in the same room for scheduling in excel? for example I have reservation data arranged in a table as: *reservation1: start time: 8:00 am, end time: 10:00 am, in room:305 *reservation2: start time:9:00 am, end time: 10:00 am, in room:305 *reservation3: start time: 8:00 am, end time: 9:00 am, in room:305 how can I have excel see that there are "three" reservations in same room!!
Hello Nilanjana. Yes it may be possible in pivot, but then you will need to update the source data and then refresh the pivot again. In this way you get the duplicate information right in the source database and the changes and updates and quicker
Just a quick question - apart from first column the data in second column and third column was different. How to choose which one to delete. Deleting one by one could be time consuming. Isn't it ?
Although the order number is the same the quantity and value is different. So technically you are correct. These entries are not duplicates in the true sense of the term. You could go to the Data Tab in the home ribbon and use the remove duplicates option to get a list of unique values.
If I have 3 rows that are dups how can I return a “X”or “D” for row 2 and 3 in Col B or C but not in row 1 Col A / Col B/ Col C Row1 = test / / Row2 = test / X / D Row3= test / X / D
