Comments like this are probably our favourite ones to this day. Takes me straight back to being 5/6 years old & struggling to just track these things down. Glad we could help - this is a big part of what this video set out to achieve.
Started my morning with a nice cup of coffee and this video. Fantastic work from both of you and the entire population of Roam doing all this research!!! Thanks for sharing all of this with the world. Definitely interested in trying out the hunt for Raikou or Entei with Route 46 in Crystal after watching this. Looking forward to roamer week!!
Kind words man! Thanks for taking the time to view our video. It was a lot of work, but also no work at all - we just love these Pokémon more than any others. We are very proud though! 20 years later & we have something as basic as the non-ponedex method which corrects a lot of outdated/misinformed information from much larger sources.
Comments like this make the video so worthwhile! Thank you for the kind words. 🙏❤️ Please continue to share these tutorials with anyone & everyone who loves these games! This is truly groundbreaking information.
Shiny gastly was the first shiny I ever found in Pearl and used probably over 20 balls until I ran out. Saving that re-encounter for a special occasion
I can't explain how thankful I am for that video. It really motivated and helped me getting my first roamer Raikou, every method from here works and it's effective, I am sure. Great work guys!
I saw this video on my recommended earlier this week and decided on a whim to attempt to shiny hunt the roamers using your methods on my original Silver cartridge. I got a shiny Entei after only around 300 tries! Thank you so much for this guide, its made this hunt super easy! I'm gonna go for the other two roamers shiny, too!
Hey - thanks for giving our stuff a shot, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Since you have further plans, did you know about our lesser known sequel to this video, our latest poison methods should perform even better: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ubPS74aiMRo.html Should you have any questions either myself or Rich will get back to you, our commitment to this stuff remains ever-present.
I have no idea how I stumbled on your channel, but when I saw your all videos talking about Roamer Week and I just happened to discover them today, February 18th I thought why not, Ive got a fresh Silver file sitting there, I'll give it a shot. Ive always wanted to hunt the roamers and this provided me with exactly the information I was looking for. All I can say now is thankyou, because by using a slightly modified version of the No Dex West of Mahogany method, after 19 Raikou, 24 Entei and 20 Suicune, my 21st was a Shiny. I still can't believe it. It took 2 years of soft resetting my Crystal file in my free time to get Shiny Celebi, and now after 3 hours of work it has a perfect partner in this beautiful Suicune. Thankyou
That's such a cool story - we genuinely love to hear it. I'm messaging Rich about this one right now! Glad we could help. Share it with anyone else that may benefit from the information... 20+ years later & we finally have the answers.
@@HangarOfRoam Very happy to share! I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I found that was when I was effectively triple hunting blind with no pokedex data, if I saw a beast usually attack it to get it to run away, I think I heard you saying that randomizes all the beasts positions on the map? Then i'd use the remaining steps on the repel and maybe even a second repel to look and see if another beast had entered the same route I was currently on, and on 7 of the 55 soft resets, I actually found a second beast, including the one with the Shiny Suicune! It appeared after running away from a normal Entei. Thanks again, I'm definitely going to try for at least the Raikou on this profile now as well!
Minor correction, for clarity: if one flees, the others all move with an adjacent shift. Alternatively, the others remain stationary if you masterball or KO. Those are how encounters with one roamer affects the movement of the others. I'd definitely recommend that you consider the Rt.46 method if you're serious about trying for Raikou on the same save. Have fun man - as long as you're doing that, you're winning!
This was amazing! Took a few attempts to get the route 46 method going but after about half an hour I got Entei, and then THE next attempt got Suicune on the same route Entei was on (42 after being on 37). This is easily the best method I’ve seen on RU-vid etc. Good work guys!
Glad to hear it! At the time these methods were miles ahead of anything else, so you're right. But actually, it isn't the best method on youtube at all - we made newer ones that are even more potent 😅😂 Check them out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ubPS74aiMRo.html Appreciate the kind words though!
This is really well made and researched. I want to do a raikou hunt but due to bank shutdown I need to finish frlg one and deoxys in emerald. Either way I will gladly use this. The amount of detail this goes into is insane.
Found Entai on accident SUPER early during my first run ever in Crystal. Totally cheesed it with save states, but my lord even catching it with cheesing felt like a chore😂
You know no one ever believes me when I tell this story but as a kid my first ever shiny encounter was raikou and my first ever shiny captured too however since it was on the gbc I couldn’t keep him forever and that’s always bothered me, I few months ago I picked up a 3DS and managed to get crystal before the e shop closed and I’ve been dreaming of that raikou since then but to know it wasn’t a false memory and to also have a real shot at finding him again it’s an itch I can’t scratch and I want to say thank you for putting together this guide for us and I can’t wait to track him down again I’ll reset my game if I have to, bonus when I started I soft reset for cyndaquil and I currently have a shiny typhlosion that I’m very proud of. Again thank you and I’ll update this comment when I track him down again. My coworker and her boyfriend are gonna go nuts when I show them the beast trio shiny on top of getting ho-oh and Lydia while I’m at it. Again thank you
Lets go Hayden - stoked about the enthusiasm dude! This is what I always banged on about live ahaha, enough people bought the games that there's a good portion out there who saw one of these things shiny whether they realised it or not. Also make a point of checking out our newer methods in case you haven't seen them, this is even more effective than anything in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ubPS74aiMRo.html
I haven't watched the video yet but from the reddit post, all I need is Pokemon March, a repel, lv 17 and soft resetting without their pokedex entries??!!! I'll definitely hunt em then
Hangar: "Hello, my name is Hangar and I've hunted 8 roaming Pokemon so far". Also Hangar: Gets two roaming shinies on the same day this video releases. LMAO But seriously guys, this is legendary. A massive accomplishment for the whole Pokemon community! Probs to you Rich and Hangar!
Glad we could help & thank you for your comment. This video is our greatest work. 🙂 Share it with anyone who would benefit from seeing this information!
Always so cool to see this much work go into such unique hunts. Kudos. Curious to see if this applies to VC Gen 2 games as well? I'd assume there's different algorithms involved between the two. Sorry if the vid mentioned it and I missed it lol
I recommend: *HAUNTER, GENGAR* or *JYNX* to help *CAPTURE* these pokemon. Alternatively, you could clone & use masterballs. All learn Mean Look & sleep inducing moves & can all have a guaranteed outspeed with the 9/8ths gym badge (Whitney's) bonus. More details here in my now *out-dated* Mahogany Method Tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o1uSbt75ks8.html#t=03m20s Obtaining Pokedex entries, to hunt with the Rt46 Method can be a problem if you only have one system. You can still obtain them with this glitch in English Gold/Silver: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mWfWCM9GTo4.html If you're interested in the history of this hunts & want to go back even earlier, you can find my first & original tutorial of the Mahogany Method tacked on to my first shiny roamer; Crystal Raikou, a one-of-a-kind shiny for it's time: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yOY_4b2OqDI.html & Rich's Crystal Entei at Cherrygrove during some of his earlier experimentation: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Lq63TX2DVws.html
so i dont understand, is the non dex method or the uhh, "winnie hut jr" method the best one because of how easy it is or just a method, and the other ones are better statistically
Thank you for your comment. That method is basically something which we made because it's easy to do - the best use case for it isn't even shiny-hunting, it's actually for people doing a normal playthrough just looking to encounter them for the first time, it has even been successfully used on the Professor Oak's challenge as a new optimised approach. Shiny-hunting is a secondary function, seeing use in a "multi-hunt" approach (where people stack up a bunch of games/consoles), or if someone has a self-imposed insistence on hunting them dexless. Pound-for-pound, It's not as effective as our other methods, not even close. If you want the best, statistically, you won't find it in this video - we ultimately released a less publicised sequel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ubPS74aiMRo.html - these two methods are the most effective we have ever come up with statistically. In that link you will find the *Rt.38-32 Poison Method* which is a catch-all for just about any hunting scenario, and the *Mahogany Release Method* which you'd only really use to maximum effect in Gold/Silver with the roamers unreleased, targeting all 3 of them.
I hunted on route 38 with the Pokemon March method. Worked out great, saw all 3 dogs, caught Suicune. But now I've not encounterd anything. Done around 40 soft resets and still nothing. Am I doing something wrong?
This sounds strange. Hard to say from your description, but if you're still intent on shiny-hunting them then I am going to suggest you check-out our latest video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ubPS74aiMRo.html Those are our most effective methods and they came a long way. This video you've been watching is an important part of the journey and a great knowledge-base however.
Not sure what’s wrong with my game but I’ve seen eiten but my Pokédex says I haven’t found it and also says I haven’t caught the other two legendary dogs which I have
I have a question about the Mahogany method. When the dog is at Route 43 and I am at route 42 or 44 what should do I do in this case? Trying to encounter in one of those routes by going back and forth of Mahogany?
Absolutely... This is what I did myself. You can see an old VOD on this channel, where we caught both shiny roamers together. Just make sure you only run into one of them & then soft-reset.
Thanks for this video! Its a great help since I started my shiny hunting journey for all the legendaries and a few other extras in gen 2 through crystal. I’m closing up on having to shiny hunt entei/raikou. So in the case of going to blackthorn city to hunt them, do I encounter which ever is closest to the encounterable routes or should I focus on one at a time when shiny hunting them? I really apreciate a response to this so I can get started on them 😁
Thanks for your message... I'm not too sure where the talk of Blackthorn has come from. The time-stamp from 31:15 covers hunting both Crystal roamers at the same time. You will want to use the Rt. 46 method which involves going to Mahogany (maybe the confusion?) But yeah, the most effective way to hunt Crystal Roamers together is actually to prioritise dex checking for one of them (you will still encounter the other occasionally, so take a masterball for when this happens, since the position of the other roamer will move if it flees)
@@HangarOfRoam sorry! I meant Mahogany/ R. 46! Didn't notice the mistake xD Thanks for your reply! I'm actually on a gen 2 journey shiny hunting every legendary/interact-ables in the game (and a few extras) (Gen 2 is my favorite) which I started basically when COVID striked hard in March. I'm following a list in the order I'm encountering them using two copies of crystal. So far I got shiny sudowoodo, suicune( I got farther ahead in one of the two games), celebi, and all 7 odd egg babies. Next is the electrodes in the rocket hideout ( I figured why not), so after that I'll have R. 44 opened up with pokemon March restored to finally start hunting Entei/Raikou using the R. 46 method. Thanks again for the reply, its a great help. I'll most likely keep rewatching this video over and over to keep me sane during that hunt xD
So what happens if a roamer spawned on route 38 and I tried to encounter them at route 42 and I don't get any encounters but the roamer still remains at route 38. Do you keep searching in route 42 until you eventually encounter it or teleport and reset its location?
That just meant it randomized to it's own route unfortunately. It's a rare circumstance, but happens. In that specific scenario, you would bike back into Mahogany Town and Dex check, if it jumped to route 42, then bike to rt. 44 for a 1/4 chance. If it jumped to 37 or 39, go into Mahogany, then in-and-out of the gatehouse and dex check again. Anywhere else, Soft Reset and try again.
thats great, thanks a lot, i found the roamers already a few times in not much time. But i have a question on how to catch them without a masterball. I have a Gengar lvl 39 with 109 init. so its faster then the roamers. but my problem is that they always use roar as their first attack when they wake up and my pokemon is gone. is there any tactics to prevent that?
Unfortunately, Roar is something you just cannot outright prevent in Gen 2. You are using the Gengar correctly, Roar just goes through everything. I only insist on using regular balls myself because I like to stay true to how I played as a kid in many ways... I was always saving my masterball... Saving it for what exactly? 🤣
@@HangarOfRoam HAHA yes! i always told myself i will safe the masterball for one of the dogs. but then the dogs came because of your tactic, but i just couldnt use it.
So I'm really confused on Route 46 method. You first say to go to the gate connecting Routes 29 and 46. Save near the door where it goes to Route 46, then SR. Why would I SR if I've already saved before starting the hunt? That's the part that isn't exactly clear to me
@The Confounded Gastly The clarification I need is when you guys are discussing setting up the Crystal Raikou hunt. If I'm entering Route 46 and get a roamer, couldn't I just encounter a roamer, SR if not Shiny, then keep popping in and out of the gatehouse till it hits Rte 46 and I'm in it? Or would that be part of the route blocking?
@The Confounded Gastly So basically what I'd be doing on Route 46 after getting set up is save in the gatehouse (in the location specified), enter Route 46 and 'dex check to see where it is. If I get lucky and it's on the routes mentioned in the video, then start the hunt. If I get unlucky and it's on say Route 34, then SR and try again?
It just isn't that simplistic when performed correctly. I suggest you re-watch the Route 46 method section. So there are 2 parts to the method. The gatehouse is a start point, if that initial location fails, this is when you Teleport from Rt.46, to Mahogany creating a block (as in the video). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L0hiY3PgLR0.html - I also suggest you skim through a more extended gameplay demo of the method.
Just started watching the stream you linked me to. So you used Fly at the beginning because of course you didn't get it the first time on Rte 46 lol. Then the second time you used Fly because it was on Rte 30 (basically nowhere near you), and that resets the chances the higher-odds routes having it? I originally watched the video we're having this conversation in at like 12:30 this morning, which may explain some of my confusion
@The Confounded Gastly So just started watching the stream you linked me to. So basically, the first time you used Fly, it's because you didn't get it on Routes 29, 30, 45, or 46. The second time you used Fly immediately after reaching Mahogany was because, as luck would have it, Raikou decided to go to one of the routes you were looking for the first time. Since the roamer should now be in the general area you want it to be, you keep 'dex checking on specific routes/Mahogany depending on where the roamer you're targeting is currently located? And should it ever stray outside the desired routes, enter the nearest building to reset. Then encounter the roamer, and if it's not Shiny reset, rinse and repeat.
How can you claim to be the only person to have captured all 3 roaming pokemon in gen 2? The game has been out for 20 years. There will be many, many people that have all three. Also, I got all three roamers on gen three easily years ago on fire red to complete the dex. Pretty sure it's a common thing. Claiming to be the first in 2020, lol wut?
As Rich pointed out, I am pretty sure nobody has hunted all 3 before. Either way, it is a moot point. The methods to do so effectively just didn't exist prior to this video being published - that is what should be celebrated.
@Ghosthunter Rich Not really, it's very likely based on a multitude of factors. The volume of games sold in over decades, from the substantial number of people actively seeking the shinies, others accessing code in the cartridge to uncover secrets, to the average kid stumbling on anything by chance. It's great these games are still going but to claim that after 20 years to have discovered a way to catch shinies is ridiculous. 🙄
I always wanted to be there when Moses brought the divine tablets down from Mount Sinai. Thank yall for your grind, passion, and sacrifices to bring this to us. There's nobody operating on this level. Onward and congratulations.
Spent like 6 hours just looking for them changing route and finding nothing, I had an idea how they changed route to begin with, but I tried the soft reset on route 38, second reset within a minute and found one, this video needs to be recognised
Good job dude, I'm very pleased that we could help you. Thank you for the kind comment. Yes, I agree, this video does need to be recognised. It is the best information that has ever been available for these Pokemon, a whole 20 years onward. RU-vid's algorithm keeps it pretty well hidden unfortunately for everyone involved.
I'm on the VC Crystal now. Going to try a method. It's 01:22 and I'm sleepy and got confused listening to this while nodding out, so I may rewatch before I start. I've already gotten 8 badges and caught Suicune, so I hope a method will still work for me.
Appreciate the guide! I'm using the no-dex method on my gold version, just going to see which one I can get! Encounters seem to be pretty reasonable too.
So, If you first encounter them and encounter them multiple times their stats are exactly the same? Meaning if a shiny one flees It'll always be shiny. I messed up in trying to shiny hunt and have Entei in my dex entry and already saved. Do I have to completely restart the game to even get the chance to even do the hunt? I just curious if there's any remedy around this or I have to fully restart.
Yes, once you encounter them for the first time and the battles end, then you save, their stats are set and will always be the same from that point forward. In otherwords, if you find a shiny roamer and then run and save it will always be shiny. The reverse is true as well. It makes them one of the easiest shinies to capture because of it. Unfortunately there's no way to reset them except in Gold or Silver if you use a coin case glitch. Probably easier to restart the game over since you can access them so early (post 3rd gym badge).
@@RichieL1991 I would start over in Crystal if I wasn't so far into the game. Plus, It's a game where I got so lucky with 40-50 resets and got a Shiny Chikorita within less than a day. Would it be possible if I traded over the Entei to my Gold/Silver game and did the coin case glitch?
@@Vikingkingist I think if you're doing the coin case glitch, it would reset them completely, meaning you could find them in your game to get their entry, then coin case to reset them for shiny hunting. The coin case glitch does take some time to do however!
@Donglo's Stream Archives No sadly does not work in Crystal. I was referring to your bottom comment about your Gold/Silver game. You could hunt them in that game!
For those who are like me and are wondering how to register the roamers to your pokedex before you encounter them - you just trade them from another game first. DERP! 😅
You smashed it guys!!! Btw when I was checking if the stats were rerolling, I kid you not I nearly shat myself when the special and speed was the same two times in a row, but then it was different after that. I was so scared 😂
Im not sure if im doing something wrong but im on silver version, i have all 16 badges and have not encountered any roamers at all. Using the rt38 method spent several hours today with zero success please help
Hey, sorry to hear you’re having some trouble encountering them, and thanks for reaching out! We can definitely help. We're going to need more information, so here are some basic problems other’s have had, including even Rich and myself on certain occasions: - In Silver the dogs aren’t automatically released through the storyline like Crystal. Have the dogs been released from the Burned Tower in your save? - The DJ Ben Pokemon Music channel only features Pokemon March on Tues., Thurs., Sat., or Sun. If you’re using it on Mon. Wed. or Fri., it will lower encounters - The first member of your party cannot be higher than level 40 - Can’t be saved exactly on RT. 38, must be inside the gatehouse. Being saved in Ecruteak and going straight the gatehouse won’t be as effective either. - Soft-resetting is necessary - sometimes people think that going in/out of the gatehouse will speed things up, but this will just route-block them. Please let us know if any of this is helpful! If not we will reassess and try to learn more information from you.
I believe it's because of my first party member. I dod go double check burned tower and I did confirm that the roamers are released. Mt whole party is 60+ I'll have to get some under 40 in my top position
It was definitely the fact that I had my L60 dragonite in first place of my party. I switched for my L38 sneasel and now I'm getting encounters. What are the odds of encountering a shiny???
Nope, not at all! If you're not looking to shiny hunt them, then you could use the non-dex method to find them for the first time. Once you find them once it registers their Dex location (but then they can never be shiny), and you can hunt them with a Dex method.
A soft-reset is a button combination that will reset the game... In these games if you hit A+B+Start+Select together, you will return to the boot-up & be able to re-load from your last save.
@@HangarOfRoam thank you so much Hangar!! I have been trying to catch my first shiny Entei ever and you have been such an amazing help through my journey !!🙏🏼❤️
You don't have to do the release with any Generation 2 Roaming Pokemon - Gold, Silver or Crystal. This is the single biggest piece of misinformation flying around.
Just wanna say, this was an awesome guide. A bit to get my head around but once I had it figured out I caught all 3 within a couple of hours. Never managed that during my playthrough when I was a kid. Great work.
I’ve finished the game, so I can not use the method that has to be done before the team rocket tower. Which method do you suggest? I have already captured Suicune. Raikou is in the pokedex as I encoutered him but not catched, and entei is still missing.
The Route 46 Method is our preferred method. It sounds like on that particular save the only roamer which is still actively huntable is the Entei. If you have seen them & saved, that's it... Unless you do the coincase glitch (which is only possible in English Gold & Silver).
@@HangarOfRoam thanks! Got Entei quite easily. Now I’m struggling with Raikou’s speed. He keeps on running away. I guess I have to bring my Gengar directly to level 39 for highest speed possible
@@davideeralti1663 Oh, I didn't realise you were just trying to catch them... Raikou will always be a pain, even if you outspeed it, if it selects Quick Attack (1/4 chance), it will always flee before you can do anything. If you get frustrated, you could just dupe a masterball.
So a question I want to clear up is when the shinyness is determined? is it when i encounter them or release them? so lets say i encounter a shiny via the non-pokedex method, Suicune for example, and save will the other 2 remaining roamers (Entei and Raikou which i have not encountered) not be huntable?
Yes they absolutely are still huntable so long as you have not run into them. I did this myself having both a shiny Entei & Raikou running around in Pokemon Crystal. This misconception about the release is massive & hopefully we can help to change that. Personally I prefer the methods which don't include the release.
That cracks me up - this is what it's all about ahahaha The enigma - I love the thought of people stumbling across these videos we made after having not picked the games up since they were kids. Everyone has their own experiences with these dogs one way or another - even those that never saw them again 🤣
@@jonahjohnson5821 Holymoly that's crazy. And to think... It wasn't even possible for most to get involved as little as a year ago. This video really has changed everything. Congratulations, man.
Mean look is actually one of two moves I know of that prevent pokemon from fleeing. Spinarak and Ariados have a special move called spider web that does the same thing. There are other options than mean look, and more pokemon that are viable for keeping them in battle.
Heads up that this is technically the "old video"... But anyway - you also need to outspeed them, remember... Ariados is very slow from what I recall. Whether they flee is dependent on move order. You have to get the trapping move off before they are due to move. So, actually if the AI randomly selects quick attack on Raikou, it will just flee regardless of your pokemon's speed or what you try & do because it is predetermined to move first on that turn either way. I like the idea though. I hadn't considered that move at all. Tangential thinking goes a long way with these things. There're normally multiple solutions & ways of doing things. In fact, that shows in the advancements we've made since this video was originally made (some of which aren't even on RU-vid)... This is just what was convenient at the time.
Hey, a question. So once you encounter a raikou, entei or suicune in a playthrough and they were not shiny and you saved, are you completely stuck and must restart the game in order to get their shiny versions?
Correct. You can no longer find those Pokemon as shinies. However, you can reactivate the slot if you sre willing to set up a lengthy glitch on an English version of Gold or Silver using this other video I made: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mHFPLXgBHok.html
Should I be trying to see each one if I'm catching all 3 in gold/silver? Like what if one of them is shiny but I run into one of the non shiny and reset?
Put simply: As long as you don't save after having seen one of them, it could still be shiny. So you probably only want to see one each reset if that's how you want to do it. Also consider using our newer even more effective methods here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ubPS74aiMRo.html
Wow, that's really cool. Back when I first encountered the dogs and realized they ran everywhere. I had a method of hunting them where I would simply swap between route 35 and 36 using the Cut tree. I go to route 35 and if not there, then I go to route 36 via the Cut tree to see if it shows up there. If it doesn't I go back to route 35 and repeat until they appear. I don't know about route blocking, but I eventually got it to show and later on, I simply incorporated route 37 since I figured 3 routes back to back were better than 2. Though, looking at this I can see how much more time consuming my hunting was (also, as I stated, since I had already encountered them at the time I had essentially removed my chance to encounter them shiny). My biggest take away from this though, is ironically not a method to hunt the dogs, but a method to hunt a rare pokemon. If pokemarch doubles encounter chances (which I have never known), then I'm going to use this to hunt Lucky Egg Chanseys.
wait so if you encountered entei, raikou or suicune and they weren't shiny, then they will never be shiny? If that's the case, then how are you supposed to have them in your pokedex as you need to encounter them in order to have them in your pokedex. Cause in my crystal cartridge, I haven't encountered raikou yet so I can't see it on the pokedex. But I have encountered Entei, does this mean that I cannot shiny hunt Entei?
Correct... You cannot shiny-hunt that Entei since you have encountered it & saved. You will need to find an alternate means of getting the dex entries. Traditionally you would just trade them in from another game, which is how I did it... If that's not possible you could always coincase glitch on an English copy of Gold or Silver, that way you can do it all on one cart - this *won't work on Crystal* however. See some of my other videos, if you wanna learn more about coincasing the entries... Alternatively & possibly the best option, you could always use a save backup tool like a GBxCartwriter to pull the save off & modify it on PC/emulator to have the dex entries... You could then rewrite that save to the cartridge. This option is great for versatility & as a general tool. Edit: I'll give you a heads up. We do actually have new methods on the way again for these, so if you do plan on shiny-hunting these - definitely subscribe to the channel & hang around. Hopefully we'll have a sequel to this video in the coming months.
@@HangarOfRoam well I only have the crystal cart. I wanted to hunt them before I did ho oh cause I need them for ho oh, but I don't mind hunting them in a another game or in crystal vc so that I can (more easily) transfer it to the newest games. But could I hunt Raikou with the non pokedex method or (because it's only raikou) would that take too long.
I keep trying to apply these methods to gold roaming hunt but almost every reset ends in another reset. I'm clearly doing something wrong but after a few days of trial, error, rewatching these videos I'm still failing to encounter roamers on regular basis.
Hey thank you for your comment - we will try our best to help you! So first, I am going to ask if you have seen this newer video, and the FAQ attached to it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ubPS74aiMRo.html The methods in that new video work slightly differently but are arguably a lot simpler, utilising poison-black-outs. If you still find yourself confused, we could consider setting up a more direct communication, happy roaming dude.
@@HangarOfRoam Hello, thank you so much for the updated video. I will watch and apply what I learn. The text doc is also a big help in the general visualization and order of operations. I'm coming to terms with how active this hunt is compared to a poorly set up weeenie hut jr method in the gold postgame, which I tried for about a week and 130 encounters. Time for something different. If I have any other questions or concerns, I will be sure to comment on the updated video. Thank you!
im on Virtual Console Crystal. Im trying to 1st encounter Entei with no luck.. ive been trying the Route 38/Ecruteak Gatehouse soft reset method for what seems an eternity. Is it possible for Entei to be in some other route across the map and will never spawn on Route 38 no matter how many resets i do? Im thinking that every time i reset the game, Entei is in Route 34 or 46 and will never make it to Route 38 from this save point?.. im frustrated
I have... a concern, with the masterball method when you meet two roamers on a same route. In my crystal I got both Entei and Raikou roaming and I do plan on hunting both shinies. I’m focusing first on Entei, and already there have been a few times encountering both Raikou and Entei on a same route. I masterballed raikou so as to not lose the encounter with Entei. But what if, by sheer bad luck, after I masterballed Raikou, I encounter a shiny Entei? That would mean I would lose Raikou as well and not be able to hunt it after, right? Should I still try the masterball method when they are both on a same route?
Yes this does mean that you will lose the Raikou & won't be able to hunt it. It's up to you to decide on whether you want to use the masterballs. I myself originally did this hunt a year ago without masterballing, to get both shinies in the same file, roaming at the same time.
I like the sounds of Weenie Hut Jr method. But it kinda defeats the purpose right? Sooo I feel like a weenie 😂😂 but if I was to do it, it would be that way 🙈 This is such a good video to follow though, you guys should be proud!
@@nomeyy Not at all! The Weenie Hut Jr method is a fine method, just not what we would recommend. The difference is you have to learn Rt. 46, in the description you will find an unlisted video of Rich finding 29 Crystal Raikou in one hour. You will find about 19 per hour with the Weenie Hut Jr. Method. The Weenie Hut Jr. Method is super easy, which is the great advantage! However, the Rt.46 Method does personally represent something closer to what I consider to be the true joy of these hunts! As for the name: Me & Rich were just memeing - poking fun at ourselves as much as anything! All of this effort, different methods, complexities - then a simple option such as that was right under our nose. But it is *100% called the Weenie Hut Jr Method* from here-on-out 🤣
